I've got one, and my feelings are mixed. the build quality is typical CZ excellence, and it feels good in the hand for a small pistol. It's quite thick for a carry pistol, but I'm sure that it could be done. My issue is that I've had it to the range 2 or 3 times and it has functioned less than reliably. First time out I was getting ftf's on every magazine, every couple of rounds in fact. Did some research online and others were having similar issues. theories included recoil springs, magazine springs, or magazine feed lips. I broke down the pistol, cleaned and scrubbed everything that moved, lubed anywhere there were 2 or more pieces of metal touching and rubbing against each other. I also got different types and weights of ammoes in hopes that it might be ammoe finicky. So next range trip it functioned much better, there was only 1 ftf out of 100-150 rounds. And it occurred using the same type of ammoe I was using on my first range trip. So it may be a new pistol needing to be cleaned and lubed and broken in, or it may not like Remington UMC. Either way I was let down, since my CZ75 & 97 are as reliable as a hammer. When the Rami works it's a pleasure to shoot. I hope that it becomes a reliable workhorse someday, because right now in a life and death situation I would not trust it.

Have you gotten any permits lately? Sergeant Hollar is great to deal with and goes out of his way to be helpful. Last year he contacted my references the day I dropped off my application. I had my permits in about 5 weeks, this year it took 6 weeks.

Can't go wrong with the Springfield or Ruger. I also hear good things about Rock Island 1911's. take the belt off and spin all the accessory pulleys; alternator, P/S pump, tensioner, and idler pulleys. A bad bearing will be quite apparent. If all run quiet and smoothly, replace the belt.

I have a Forester now. Much better ground clearance than the Impreza, and the best all wheel drive system of any vehicle on the road.

I high-centered my Impreza a few years ago in a 3 or 4 foot drift.

I was told at LGS that the 10 round magazines would not feed reliably and were all returned to Ruger. I handled the .45, and it felt quite comfortable. I think I want an M&P .45 though.

Figured I'd bump this rather than start a new thread. I was at a LGS yesterday and was looking at an npap that they had on the shelf. It had a normal stock. I checked Century International's site this morning and found that they have a Warsaw Pact style stock that fits pap style rifles for sale, for $60. Linky

I'll probably go tomorrow. I've been going the last couple of years. It's nothing like I imagine the Oaks show to be, but it's still fun to drool over guns that I want.

I really like my Citori, although it may be a bit above the 8 lbs. you may have to shop around to find one for $1000. But if you can find one, you'll like it too. Mine has the 26" barrels for hunting, only because I couldn't get 24" barrels. It's well balanced and carries well all day. For me it points well and fits me. If I can ever get to another shootout at Clinton, you're more than welcome to try it out.

I highly recommend the CZ.

In the after photo, the very bottom most point of the stock is nearly even with the bottom of the pistol grip. In the before photo, it's higher up. I should have taken my own before photo, and some measurements. But it definitely feels different.

(Shakes dust off thread) Well, finally got around to trying something. I read a thread on AKfiles about modifying the buttstock where it meets the rear trunion. Basically, the stock is removed, and with a rasp remove wood at the bottom of the stock, tapering up to the top. this effectively drops the rear of the stock, or raises the receiver depending on your point of view. Here's some pics. Not mine, didn't think to take a pic beforehand. After Haven't shot it yet, but feels better. I have a much better sight picture with what feels like a much more natural cheek hold. I don't have to stretch my neck so far forward. Will update with a range report, hopefully next weekend.

Can ammoe be purchased by anyone, or is it like buying a rifle from CMP? Do I need to belong to an affiliated club and shoot competitively? Nevermind, just read that there are requirements.
