    NJ NICS

That's a bunch of crap. The Federal and State records checked by NICS are all computerized and are the only ones checked. The storm had nothing to do with it. That is 100% accurate. I am fortunate enough to have dealer associations with four major wholesale firearms distributors. NONE of them have a single thing worth selling in their inventory. I not only do transfers but I sell firearms also and I currently have no less than 15 firearms on my "Wish List's" in various places with no predicted delivery date at all. I have other relationships and recently ordered a barrel for a 10/22 from one of my direct suppliers and they quoted a delivery of July. The whole system has gone nuts. There is so much panic buying and price gouging going on right now you have to be crazy to even think of buying anything if you can find it. Somebody I know sold a Sig 516 Patrol NJ Compliant for $3,800. Sig's web site has that firearm listed for $1,666 MSRP and six months ago you could have easily purchased that firearm for $1300 or even less.
  3. Actually you cannot legally block, pin or otherwise alter your own magazines without an FFL which specifically licenses you as a "manufacturer". At least according to the ATF agent that went over my federal license requirements. Specifically she was instructing me on what I could or could not do once I received my FFL.
  4. Perhaps you are right, other states will not follow suit, just my opinion. I agree about PA however my wife's ex-husband lives in NJ and has a PA carry permit and does not have a NJ carry permit. I would love to know how that happened. "I should only carry if I travel in bad areas? I don't think I'm taking that advice." I am not offering you advice, I am stating my opinion. I wish to have a carry permit and want the laws to change because I believe it is my constitutional right. Now I go to PA often but I guess not often enough. The fact is I spend 95% of my day not even thinking about carrying a firearm and not needing one. I would like for my wife to be able to carry one however.
  5. It is legal. As stated, "Under The Firearms Owners Protection act, U.S.C. 18 962A, State law is preempted and a person not otherwise prohibited by Federal law may "lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or directly accessible from the passenger compartment...." And so on. So essentially, if PA did in fact still allow FL permits and you had one, you could legally transport the firearm to PA where you "may lawfully possess and carry such firearm". Unfortunately it's not an option any longer. Reading the PA law it's quite clear as "TheLugNutZ" states, you now need to be a Florida resident. Count on this type of thing happening with all states that recognize reciprocity. What you can do however is apply for a carry permit in PA. Some counties allow non-resident carry permits. But it really only matters if you spend a great deal of time in PA and for some reason you travel in some bad areas.
  6. So I would love to get excited about this and get on board with you guys but I am still not getting it. So you received your Florida permit, Ok good. So what. Are we going to pack up the guns, and you are still transporting in NJ to get to PA so you need to lock them up and make sure they are unloaded, travel to PA, pull over to the side of the road, put on a holster, load the gun and then what? Drive around PA for a few hours carrying? Then we can stop at the PA border, unload the gun and lock it back up for the drive home in NJ. Wouldn't you rather just go to a range or a competition and shoot? Even if the federal government passes reciprocity, which is not likely at least not now, NJ will never allow it. Remember, the state can pass any law they wish which trumps the federal laws if the law is more restrictive. Oh and by the way, looks like your FL permits are useless in PA, at least that what is being reported. It seems that PA is not accepting FL permits anymore. I might do it anyway, but I am not sure why.

    Nics update

Same exact thing for me. Put NICS in on Monday night around 7 and got the call at 1001 Wednesday morning.
  8. Before I had my FFL I purchased a very special SIG that I wanted for a long time. A 226 X6 Scantic. I had it transferred to a reputable large dealer in N. Jersey. When I went to pick up the gun one of the principals in the business opened up the box and the very first thing out of his mouth after "wow" was "do you want to sell it". I said no and he still threw out a price which would have made me a tidy profit. I didn't sell the gun BUT had I would that have been illegal?
  9. Straw purchase has nothing to do with who pays for the gun. I just ordered a shot gun for a client that purchased it for his brother as a birthday gift. The bottom line is the brother will be present completing the paperwork and getting the NICS check. And that is the only person that will get the gun. Who cares who paid for it. Since you lost your buyer sell the gun on consignment if you can't or won't return it. If your FFL won't sell the gun for you under consignment transfer it to me. I will list it on gunbroker for you, legally transfer it and happily take my small cut.
  10. You should cease all activities that require your FFL. Gun sales, consignments, transfers, gunsmithing, ammo sales (need a special license for this), manufacturing for profit (another special license for this.) not sure what you mean by personal. You can sell your own firearms FTF. Give it at least a month from the time the state police contact you to notify you that your application has been assigned a detective. You will need to submit a new set of electronic fingerprints. Yup another 60 bucks and a few weeks of waiting. Some people I spoke to said prepare your FFL package and when the state schedules your site inspection then submit your ATF application. Count on the state process taking at least 90 days. The Feds can take 30 to 45 days. With your federal package you need old style paper fingerprints. That may be easy as it was for me or your local police may give you a hard time. Make sure your site is ready for the state. Alarm system that reports to a regional center and make sure you have a signed certification from your alarm installer. They should give you one. A good gun safe is also a must and you must submit a written letter from your township zoning officer that states it's ok to run the business. The state is also a real stickler when it comes to your bound books. I ended up ordering them on line. And you must have two books if you are doing gunsmithing. The ATF was much easier.
  11. I am a relatively new FFL in the Central Jersey area, Cream Ridge, and my bank PNC didn't give me any issues at all with my bank accounts or credit card processing. They hooked me up with one of the portable CC processing units, goes on my tablet. Very cool, works well. Your pricing is right in line with mine but I do offer discounts for multiple transfer's. Something you probably should do. Took me several months to set up my relationships with some distributors. If you can raise some capital a few of the distributors have vendor programs running. The pricing is very good and you get a few extra guns thrown your way for free depending on the package you select. I am working on a 20 gun Glock package right now. Will get several guns free if I can manage to get the package. I have a Ruger package also on my desk right now. That is a 10 gun package and if I pull the trigger on that I will get excellent pricing and a free 22/45 Mark III. Whatever you do, do NOT conduct any business before you actually acquire your State Retail Firearm's license. Don't even take deposits!!! Some people actually wait until they get the state license before the FFL. The FFL takes no time compared to the state license. Once I got through the entire process I still had to wait 30 days for a court hearing before issuing the license. In this state it is up to the individual county to decide how to issue the licenses. In my county you must appear before the judge before he will sign it. Some people have reported that in their county the court signs the license and put's it in the mail. I wasn't that lucky. Do yourself a favor and buy the "New Jersey Gun Law Guide" by Evan Nappin. This will keep you out of trouble during the process and when you are in business. Evan WARNS you many times, "DO NOT get your FFL before you have a State Retail Firearm License". I was issued my FFL just ahead of my state license because the ATF called the NJSP to find out if my application was signed and forwarded to the court. There is a time limit under which the ATF will hold open your FFL application while you wait for your state license. If your FFL license application is about to expire you can request, in writing an extension while you wait for the state license but that is a whole different process. I was fortunate because my state license had just gone to the court when the ATF made their inquiry so they issued the FFL ahead of the state license. But I was told that it was rare for that to happen and the ATF will either close the application and make you reopen it again, or force you to submit a request for an extension. Some lessons learned, hope it helps. By the way I know this information to be true because the first time I applied for my FFL I mistakenly took the advice from an on-line service I paid for that guides you through the whole process. They state in their directions that you should not forget to obtain your state license before conducting business under your FFL. They never said get the state license first, in fact they stated that you had 30 days to make the state application after getting your FFL. That was not true. So when the ATF came for my site inspection and asked me for a copy of my state license, well game over. They refunded my application money and made me re-apply after getting the state process underway. Fortunately they gave me my case file number so I didn't have to resubmit fingerprints and all the other supporting documents. My mistake cost me over two months.
  12. I can't agree more and again to PK90 thank you. This will be waiting until tomorrow since Champion is closed today.
  13. Thank you, I was not notified of the change probably because I only officially received my State License on Friday. The packet from NJSP was sent to me in December.
  14. As of this past Friday I have received my State Retail License and have my FFL. Putting everything in place to start business I attempted to make my first transfer yesterday. I am registered with the State Police for NICS and have my NICS packet from them. I attempted to fax the form to them only to find out that nobody I can find supports calling 900 numbers any longer. An exhaustive search of the interenet, calls to phone carriers and on-line fax providers, complaints to my Verizon support personnel and visits to neighbors with other services have proven fruitless. Can't call NICS of course being the weekend. Verizon land line service announced on in December it would no longer support billing for 900 numbers. Does anyone have an idea how to send a fax to a 900 number? After all the work and effort to finally get everything in place to get stuck on a fax number is just plain stupid. If we were part of the federal NICS program and not a POC state I could contact NICS directly over the internet, simple and free which our tax dollars paid for. They should rename the state program to a POS program.
  15. Anyone ever come across 15 round compliant magazines for a Sig X6 in 9m?
