  1. We have them on our site in our warehouse inventory. Www.plumstedarms.com Under long guns menu option, select manufacturer Stevens and you can narrow the search by model. We are in Cream Ridge and all firearms are available for pickup so there is no shipping. Forgot to add for best pricing create your account. If you are a CJRPC member let me know and you get another 5%
  2. If you want to start with a little less stressful match try Steel. CJRPC has their monthly steel match the first Sunday of the month. You can shoot multiple guns and you need less equipment. The rules are easier and you can get use to competition without knowing anything about it. The first Sunday match is open to members and non-members, registration is 0830, $8/gun for non members. Always a lot of fun and everyone is willing to help new shooters get involved with competition.
  3. On a more serious note when I did my AR build I sent my trigger kit out to Bill Springfield at www.triggerwork.net. He slicked up the trigger kit and reduced the pull. My trigger pull is amazing and smooth. I also highly recommend you purchase the anti rotation pins for the AR trigger. I didn't at first and of course I had a pin walk on me. In my case it only caused the gun to jam. I have heard it may cause the gun to go into full auto.
  4. Oh come on I see the blemish, they put magic marker over the serial number
  5. Fortunately we have a bank with a brain. I know stop laughing. Our bank offers "Virtual" credit card's. I can create a virtual credit card, grant only Champion's merchant number to charge it, and limit the amount of the charge to $15. That's the task for tomorrow at the branch. Champion also offers "account" options where you can be billed for your charges. I may also take that route. But first I need to get on the phone with them and have a little conversation. Vendors with credit cards on file with Champion, watch your accounts.
  6. Just received a text message alert from our bank, on the credit card used in our business exclusively to process NICS with Champion Communications. Seems somebody is enjoying themselves down in Florida on our corporate card. We use this card exclusively for one wholesale distributor in IL, and Champion Communications (NICS NJ) in guess where, Florida. The card is shut down and our bank will make good on the charges but WTF is up with Champion. I could be jumping to conclusions but it sure looks like a problem with them to me. No doubt I will be on the phone with them tomorrow and will also be making alternate payment arrangements. No more credit card for them.
  7. That makes even less sense that Cheyenne would fax in paperwork on a Saturday when they can phone in the request instantly on Monday, when they know they cannot do a transfer on Sunday anyway. That's just plain stupid and from a customer support standpoint it sucks. You should have insisted they wait until Monday to process your NICS.
  8. Sorry to say but you should have just waited until Monday. Last Thursday all NICS were still being done by FAX and you are probably still in line with the remaining backlog of faxes. If you waited until Monday it would have been on the phone instant. I told all my customers late last week that I would hold their NICS until Monday and submit on Monday this way I would not fax any requests any longer and be waiting without knowing what to tell my customers.
  9. FYI, Use the federal system free. Point of contact state fees, read this: http://www.nssf.org/PDF/NICS_POC_States.pdf
  10. Completed 4 NICS checks so far today. No busy signals, no issues, responses back in 1 to 2 minutes. Friendly operators also. Good sign for day 1. I was expecting a long wait time and busy signals. Not happening.
  11. With little or no fanfare NICS went back on line today as promised. It was a pleasure submitting checks and getting a response in a minute or two. No busy signals, no long hold times, response inside of a minute or two, pleasant operators. Now if the country can find a solution to the ammo supply problems things may finally return to normal.
  12. That's correct and what I said, you are not required to provide your SS#. It may be beneficial on NICS end I don't know. I have not run into any problems with those that don't want to submit their SS#.
  13. $30 pistol $25 long guns $20 receiver, other $15 NICS Close to you in Cream Ridge And by the way, if you come back and use me for other pistol or long gun transfer's the price goes down to $25 for all future pistol transfer's. "Customer Loyalty Discount".
  14. Same exact process. Actually you are not required to provide your SS#. That is optional.
  15. How are you doing that? I called the number a short time ago and still got the recording we have been getting for the past six months. The number is not live yet how did you get set up already?
  16. Lucky you I guess you will find out Monday how it works. Keep us informed.
  17. I guess whatever arrangements you have with them for payment (cash on account I guess) will still work. I am only repeating what she said.
  18. Much to my surprise and that of my fellow FFL holder's the NICS backlog is rapidly being cleared out, in preparation for Monday I guess? I received a call this week from NICS clearing all of my pending NICS checks some of which were only a couple of days old. I was told by the NICS agent that the phone system was going live Monday. Instead of speculating and wondering about the procedures I contacted Champion Communications. Here is the response I received from Melissa at Champion for FFL's that are already registered with them to send faxes. You will dial 877-743-3000 and it will prompt you through the steps you will enter your credit card information and at that time you can get a pin so that each time you call you will not have to enter all the credit card information all over again. According to her you must be registered with them already and authorized to send faxes. I am guessing you must call from the authorized number you have for faxing in the information to obtain your pin. So call from your fax machine!! That's the procedure to follow on Monday. I wonder how long that line will be busy Monday?
  19. Vendors Forum on the main page. Direct: http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/50993-custom-glock-work/
  20. If you check out my vendor forum you will see a full lineup of Glock Ghost packages and pricing if you are interested.
  21. Even an FFL gets to have some fun. Here is mine. 6.88 inch slab sided bull barrel, thumb rest grips. I also have a 22/45 Mark 4 with a threaded barrel, custom comp and dot. Great competition pistols.
  22. Your ATF form 4473 must have the NICS response code on it. When you sign it take note of the number it's really easy or ask your FFL for a copy. The response code always starts with the year followed by the day of the month then by a 5 digit sequential number. Example. 201314700087 is a valid response code. The proceed was issued on the 147th day of the month (today may 28th) in the year 2013, and this was the 87th response code issued today. To find out how long it's good for add 30 to 147 and you get the 177th day of the year 2013, June 26th
  23. Submitted May 15th, three checks, Received May 28th, three checks 13 Calendar Days Interesting, wasn't NICS closed yesterday in observance of Memorial Day?
  24. Good question but incorrect assumption. No, when I fax in a NICS request it ultimately goes to the NJSP, not NICS. In this state I as an FFL never have direct access to NICS, we deal through the NJSP, the middleman. New Jersey is a Point of Contact state (POC) which is a state that assumes the responsibility of compliance to the Brady Law. The Brady law simply expands the role of NICS (FBI's Crime Database) to firearm purchases. Please review Post #13 of this thread. Again NICS is the FBI's system and the State Police contact NICS when they actually process your request. Because of their quoted "Backlog" of requests a fax request sent in by me to get a background check sits in a pile waiting it's turn to be processed. Once my form is actually picked up and processed the last thing NJSP do is contact the FBI's database, NICS, to complete my requested background check. Prior to contacting NICS they perform a check of their own databases for state related background information. The law states that a NICS record is not considered "STALE" for 30 days after the request was initiated. That is 30 days after the NICS database was accessed. So for example, your FFL faxed in a request to NJSP for a background check on the 1st of May and a proceed response was received by the FFL on the 15th of May, that means the NICS database was contacted by the NJSP on your behalf on May 15th. That is how the NJSP is correct when they insist that they are not violating federal law by considering the NICS check "Not Stale" for 30 days from the day they contact you with the proceed response. Because it's the same day that the NICS check was initiated (into the FBI's NICS database). To put it into prospective and give you even more insight into my frustration as an FFL I have purchased and run a fairly expensive software system which has been adopted by the ATF to run my firearms business. Of course I still must maintain a "bound book". Many FFL's use the same system. There is a component of that system which allows my computer to contact NICS DIRECTLY to perform a background check in seconds. I cannot use this component of my software system in New Jersey. That's because New Jersey petitioned the ATF to become a POC state so they can do the background checks and add additional checks that they feel is necessary. Here is the kicker to that. The ATF federal laws also "suggest" that states provide their legal databases to the FBI to be incorporated into the NICS system. Again, the law "suggests" that states do this. New Jersey does not do this therefore the federal database system, NICS, has no knowledge of NJ violations and mental health issues. By keeping NJ's information in NJ the state has guaranteed that they will always be the middleman in the background check process, and of course always generate a revenue stream. Because the federal NICS system is FREE, well not free you already paid for it in your taxes. There happens to be a bill on Christie's desk that would require NJ to submit their records to the national database which hopefully will be a prelude to NJ dropping it's role as a POC state and allowing NJ Licensed Retailers to contact NICS directly thus eliminating this entire mess. That probably won't happen however since the NJSP has been insisting that they are developing their own E-NICS (electronic NICS) access system for NJ retailers that they claim will allow us to access background check information instantly. Another redundant waste of money since the FBI already has a system that allows for instant access. Just another bridge to nowhere.
  25. On a brighter note can the NICS problem be trending in a positive direction? Today I received NICS proceed responses that are 8 NICS business days old after accounting for the holiday, Sunday's and the day I submitted the request. And I noticed that the person providing my responses was obviously new at this, and a voice that I did not recognize. I am optimistic.
