    which 9mm?

Excuse the pun but don't all Glocks simply look alike? How can one be any uglier then the next? The only thing that bothers me about a Glocks looks are the seam and mold marks, usually seen around the trigger guard.
  2. You don't know? Best to turn off all the lights to simulate a real power outage and try it out on the gun. Better a dry run then in a real emergency when your LIFE might depend on it. (ahhh, you just ordered it, I over looked that, sorry, my bad!.)
  3. I pay in excess of $12K in property tax here in NJ while my brother pays about $2K down in Delaware. I've already started the conversation to move with my wife but she has only two people left on her side of the family and won't move away from them.
  4. Good for YOU! Lots of people would be jealous of that wait. WELCOME!
  5. I think it's a matter of perception. Today people see videos on the news almost weekly now of Cops caught on camera beating somebody unjustly. Rarely do people get to see the good side of what Police do. Plus in the old days, a Police Officer would 'walk a beat" and get to know his neighborhood and neighbors too. A relationship of sorts was developed. Today that relationship building is gone within the community (for the most part - some communities still try to achieve this). Then there's the mindset of most Cops too. You're either an LEO or your not and if your not, your either a perp or a potential perp. I will agree that the regard that the general public has of Police today is not nearly as good as it once was and some people (who are not the bad guys) still fear the Police for a variety of reasons. It is what it is and today, thats just how it is. Then you throw in speed and radar traps forced upon the Police to generate revenue for towns and that also adds to the distrust and dislike for the Police. And just because we the general public cannot legally use our cell phones while driving, why should the public get upset when they see the Police using theirs while driving daily. (And PLEASE don't try to tell us it's all for official duty etc. - That's BULL and even Grandma know that. ) Plus Police hand out courtesy P.B.A. cards and window stickers so their friends and family can avoid getting a ticket, now certainly the general public should just overlook that, right? Get the picture? There's a reason for everything if you just look for it. Please don't shoot the messenger though as these are just given reasons, not my personal opinion of Police.
  6. Check out youtube reviews of the PT1911 as I did myself (considered this pistol) but the reviews are mixed at best. Also there's a review in one of the magazines I get from a month or two back and that review too was mixed. Finish was so-so.
  7. I feel after watching the video that the Police acted appropriately and within reason. Why? because the perp was obviously NOT obeying verbal commands and two, was not brought down by a "stun gun" and lastly, then turned and became more threatening towards the officers. Good shooting in my opinion and nothing less then what that perp deserved. End of story. Now the jackazzes who filmed it with their "colorful" commentary are another story altogether. Just goes to prove that anyone can be a star on places like youtube. Hope they themselves learned something from watching this video. Two shots, five shots, it doesn't matter because you shoot to "stop the threat" (so corrected thanks to Jon below) when you pull the trigger. (Didn't I hear someone yelling "halt" after the fifth or eighth shot??) (And I thank God that the K9 officer chose NOT to put his faithful dog in harms way from a pipe bender.)
  8. Somebody bumps into me with their bicycle, I expect an appology. I'm just sayin' (Cop or not) I agree we weren't there so we don't know but that incident likely set the tone for what followed.

    which 9mm?

If you're going to consider a Glock, make sure you also hold and try a Smith & Wesson M&P too. Ask for the "Pro Series" in 9mm. Comes with either a 4.25" (night sights) or 5" barrel (fiber optic). Consider the 5" barrel if you intend to game.
  10. That same light is sold under a host of different names. Seriously I doubt it's light output is as advertised too. I'd be cautious of going "too cheap" on a light lest it be all plastic junk. Does it say it's aluminum? Also check out the next section down for a light thats on sale.
  11. I think you are right, but then again bumping into the suspect with a bicycle seems like quite an unorthodox way of initiating an interview, doesn't it? We don't know if the bicycle tag was intentional or unintentional either. Only those involved know for sure.
  12. So THAT'S what happened (and where) Harry's went to. I passed by there a few weeks ago and was going to stop in but saw they were closed up. What strip mall are they now in?
  13. Wait, we're talking about "Campus Police" where they are GOD on campus. What do you think?
  14. Ahhh, now I understand. Temple University Police. The video shows like two guys. Where's the riot?
  15. I lived on South Inman Ave. down the street from ABBE Lumber. "Give em' Hell from Avenel" I was also an Avenel Fireman for several years too.
  16. 56 Harry, lived in Avenel for about a decade from roughly 82-92ish.
  17. Welcome to the forum! I lived in Woodbridge Twp. for many years. Grew up in Colonia and lived in Avenel after marriage.
  18. I went with one of these for my HD weapon. I myself don't see the overwhelming need for a laser light in a "close quarters" HD application and for $59 bucks, this will more then serve the purpose. It's a CR2 single battery light (comes with a duracell). http://njgunforums.c...270#entry415270
  19. No there's also extra paperwork (customs forms) and sometimes extra fees involved too, depending on the Country of destination. I normally would charge $5 extra for all the extra trouble and paperwork alone. Best thing to do is pay a visit to a post office and ask them or go on line and visit www.usps.com and read about international shipping. You also need to put down a declared value and many "buyers" ask you to declare the item is a gift so they don't have to pay import taxes and duties but that is illegal from your end. https://www.usps.com/ship/prepare-international-shipments.htm?
  20. Thanks Parker, I like the SL version but was actually leaning towards the L model for it's case hardened steel receiver. Looks like maybe I'll consider a 12 gauge with 28" barrels.
