  1. I know that this bill is a stretch, but could it be possible that this bill goes through?

A800 would remove the "Justifiable Need" and replaces it with an approved Safety Course as well as a Use of Force course. It changes the $20 - 2 year fee with a $100 annually fee. And finally it stiffens the laws for crimes committed with firearms.

ITS A TRUE COMMON SENSE BILL...That's why I'm skeptical.

Here is the link for anyone that wants read it. http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2016/Bills/A1000/800_I1.PDF

  2. I just sent this email to all the legislators and I attached a PDF of the survey along with it.

    Dear Legislators,

I am writing to you as a law abiding gun owner here in the state of NJ. Currently new gun bills are being proposed which will have no effect on crime but will only hinder law abiding citizens from protecting themselves under the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America. It will not only affect law abiding citizens but it will also have no impact or even a negative impact on public safety. I have a attached a survey conducted by PoliceOne. It was conducted by current and retired law enforcement officers, mostly of whom were field officers. As you can see by this survey, if any new restrictive gun laws are passed which affect only the law abiding citizen, will be a hindrance not only to the general public at large but to also local and state law enforcement.

I hope that you, as our elected legislators, do the right thing. Do not pass feel good legislation to appease the public. But pass common sense legislation that will actually help to reduce crime, enforce current laws and do not let violent criminals out of jail early. Crimes committed with firearms should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and no plea bargains should be permitted in such crimes.

I hope that you actually read my email and review the attached PDF so that you will see that law abiding citizens and law enforcement have a common interest to help reduce crime.

Thank you for your time and attention.

    Sincerely,

  3. This was my message, and I sent it to all members....stole it from the NRA website.

    Subject: no more frivolous laws!

As your constituent, I strongly urge you to oppose any legislation to ban so-called "assault weapons" and "large" ammunition magazines.

A previous ban on these inanimate objects was in effect from 1994-2004 and had no discernible effect on violent crime. In fact, a study of the ban mandated by Congress found: "At best, the assault weapons ban can have only a limited effect on total gun murders, because the banned weapons and magazines were never involved in more than a modest fraction of all gun murders."

Tens of millions of Americans choose to own semi-automatic firearms with ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds for the same reason as law enforcement officers: they are effective for self-defense. One never knows how many rounds he or she will need for self-defense or defense of others, or how many criminals may attack. Thus having a firearm that allows its lawful user to discharge multiple shots can often be the difference between life and death. In fact, a number of studies have shown that firearms are used for self-defense hundreds of thousands of times to 2.5 million times annually. This amounts to guns being used 3-5 times more often for self-defense than to commit a crime.

Rather than expanding previously failed legislation that won't curb violence, but will affect law-abiding gun owners, I urge you to support legislation to enhance school security and improve our nation’s ailing mental health system.

    Thank you,

    [my name]

  4. This is what I have been sending.

    Dear Congressman:

As you know, Congress is shockingly considering GUN LEGISLATION that will make enemies into millions of its citizens, breaching a trust long held. I urge to stand for individual liberty and trust in the citizenry, just like our Constitution affirms and clearly outlines.

I urge you with the greatest commitment to VOTE AGAINST the AWB and any other legislation that purposes registration and banning of so-called "Assault Weapons." These firearms are in tens of millions of households, held by good citizens, keeping the peace, and preserving their liberty. The percentage of criminal use of these guns is infinitesimal and statistically insignificant.

More importantly these proposed laws registering and banning this broad category of guns will have no affect on crime. As we saw in the CT massacre at Sandy Hook, criminals will steal their guns, ignore ALL laws, and in the end probably use other destructive devices to kill people (buses, cars, poisons, homemade bombs, etc).

The only effective solution to these killers is an immediate armed response, just like civilian Nick Meli in a mall in Clackamas, OR. With his Glock, he foiled a mass shooting, saved lives. An armed civilian stops these mass killings! ARMED TEACHERS ARE THE ANSWER, NOT criminalizing millions of good Americans. That will cause much greater problems. But this isn't about guns or greater public safety, or stopping the killings, it's about people control. This is much more ominous.

The fingerprinting, registration, and guaranteed future control of an owner of this type of firearm VIOLATES the Second Amendment. It is a glaring manifestation of an overreaching, out of control government...the very thing which our founders feared and wished to prevent. This destruction of the 2nd Amendment will have a domino effect. Other rights will also be attacked, weakened, and outright eliminated. In the future this could lead to civic unrest, deadly confrontations with law enforcement, and more.

This or other "assault weapons bans" will be unenforceable as well. In the end, only the criminals and the government will be armed. Is that what you want? In determining the course of this country this might be your most important vote ever. Firmly PRESERVE GUN OWNERS RIGHTS and accept no compromise. I thank you for your past support in this area; it's time to do it again as the anti-freedom forceS are always on the march. I will watch your vote will great interest and gratefully support you in future elections for your defense of our Constitution.

    Sincerely,

    Hector Casillas Jr

  5. My email to him.

I am 100% against more gun control. I will never vote for anyone who supports gun control even if I agree with everything else he stands for. Our laws in new jersey are already strict enough and making them more strict only effects people who obey laws. The 10 round mag idea is a horrible one. I already had to order custom 15 round mags and making them illegal once again is just insane. The killer in Colorado rigged his apartment with explosives so if he didn't have a gun he could have just blown up the theater. Also in my opinion using that horrible event to push your own agenda is heartless. I don't even think the bodies were cold before the anti 2nd amendment crowd was all over the news

    Thank you for your time
