  1. taxpayers made billions???? right. meanwhile savers suck on 0% rates to keep the banks intact with mark to fantasy accounting. and jack lew just happens to be the best man for the job too. if only Abenomics hadn't hit stall speed the bubble was doing quite nicely. guess they didn't print hard enough. best wishes(all in good fun) LOL I've come round to being a long term deflationist. SImply because of the open door immigration policy if nothing else (and open door globalization policy in the other direction for big corporate jobs). Labor simply cannot get any traction except for artificial means such as minimum wage or unions. However pricing labor above its economic value is just a stopgap strategy...finger in the dike.
  2. The cold callers usually say they're calling for the FOP and the scam is, they get a donation of like 10% of the gross (maybe net) proceeds of the boiler room operation. I make a small donation to the local police and fire and EMS just to show my support, I have the decals but don't scrape and replace every year or worse yet tile them across the window.
  3. Apparently Citibank (read: US Taxpayer) has paid the up-front cost in exchange for their annoying logo everywhere. So this project stands a better chance of making money than the DC thing. I think you have to be a "bike person" to like this.
  4. Just seems suicidal mixing more bikes into NYC traffic.
  5. The bikes reportedly weigh 45 pounds. Probably ride like a Mack truck.
  6. Was in Manhattan last week, driving around, it's hard to avoid noticing the Citibike rental stations have been rolled out in some pretty prominent places. Let's see how long this monument to Bloomberg nanny state ism survives. The NY Post had a good article the other day, here is the money shot:
  7. something doesn't match up between the pictures of Dan Dodson and that other website...can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it's the picture of the little african american baby. Oh nevermind: "Along with two other couples, Michelle and I co-host one of Trenton’s biggest annual private parties. With another interracial couple (BTW – I’m white and Michelle is black) we host Trenton’s annual Loving Day cookout commemorating the 1967 Supreme Court Case: Loving v. Commonwealth of Virginia which legalized interracial marriage in the US."
  8. Yeah I remember Mike Lowe in Dirty Jobs was working in a swamp somewhere removing an invasive species of trees by drilling into the trunk and pouring concentrated roundup into it.
  9. We like Guntucky because it's so far over the edge, and because we just got through watching all 4 seaons of Justified. Also like the new Dog&Beth show that's on right before is good. The one last week was a real eye opener. Now I understand why NM is a blue state, never thought there'd be a MLK Blvd there.
  10. There's a new series on CMT about the Knob Creek Gun Range (famous for its machine gun shoots) that started in the last week or two. Typical scripted reality TV, but it's about guns! Began on 4/21. Sundays at 10pm on CMT (FIOS 221/721). DVR it, all these reality shows have too many commercials.
  11. Not only that but your "old fashioned values" are a threat to "confidence" in the financial system!
  12. TRENTON — A woman shot in the head on East State Street Monday night was the wife of high-ranking Crips gangster Paul “P Funk” Jiles, police sources said, and city officials now fear the possibility of retaliatory shootings. http://www.nj.com/mercer/index.ssf/2013/04/sources_woman_shot_in_head_in.html#incart_m-rpt-1 Great news for anyone with jury duty coming up in Trenton. Last time my wife served, they told her not to wear her jury badge in public and maybe it would be better if everyone brought a sandwich for lunch. Well that was actually during a gang trial. Trenton needs a "green zone". I guess the block with the capitol bldg and state house is essentially it.
  13. +1 work harder, millions on welfare depend on you
  14. if you've never been a pledge you might not get this (kind of project mayhem-esque) Yale DKE pledges chant "no means yes, yes means anal" in front of women's center.
  15. U-ship ... I hope Jarrett shows up with his trailer LOL http://www.uship.com/shippingwars/ How about these things like PODS, Pack Rat, etc? Congrats on the move!! The last one out of NJ, turn off the lights!!
  16. How about walking dead? Andrea shoots herself in the head with Rick's Colt Python. Then a split second later we hear the clink of the ejected brass. D'oh. It's ok we'll clean it up in post production :-)
  17. LA Confidential has become a favorite, only recently discovered by my wife and I (both love it). Any movie with LAPD carrying and shooting Ithaca shotguns is ok by me. The time period is very special too, early 50's, not all about music for a change. Agree with all your choices but will have to look for Way of the Gun, don't remember seeing it.
  18. Great video. Hadn't seen it before. Thanks.
  19. OK well not necessarily most accurate but whatever. Heat -- Michael Mann --brings me to Miami VIce, season 2 , episode Prodigal Son. Shootout in the WTC courtyard, When Sonny shoots down the helicopter, and the ending when they go running to catch the Eastern AIrlines flight back to Miami out of Newark Terminal B. Brings back memories. Airport security in the old days! OK not really a greatest shootout but one of my favorite episodes of Miami Vice. shootout ending Also the episode Phil the Shlll where Stan Switek shoots the TV saying "This one's for you Elvis" IMFDB is a great resource: IMFDB Miami Vice Season 1
  20. So the latest trick in Mercer county is, you get called for jury duty (say, week of April 8th). Friday afternoon you call in, great, your number is way high and you're excused Monday, and judging by the numbers they're asking to show up, you may not get called all week. Saturday April 6th you get a notice in the mail that your service is not needed now and will be rescheduled for another time! Just happened to my wife.
  21. I think the key to happiness is to learn how to care for a grill...not saying that i know how either! But my Target "special" top of the line Amana 3 burner (actually a SureHeat 27) has completely rusted to shit inside. The burners haven't gone yet cause they're stainless, literally everything else inside has rusted out. I'm restoring the cast iron grills to get another year out of it, scrubbed them good and used plenty of vegetable oil to make them usable. That is the art that I have to learn, how to care for the cast iron grilles. Before I invest in a better unit for next year. Luckily the Target grill was on clearance (75% off) so I really can't complain. But nothing of any quality comes from a Target or Home Depot that is for damn certain!
  22. That article looks like ctrl-C ctrl-V from every other gun control article. The vote on the UN arms treaty told you everything you need to know about how dead this issue is for Obama/Reid/Pelosi. They'll milk it for $$ but they know they can't deliver and won't risk political capital in a losing cause.
  23. Interesting thread on a coin collector forum about an "incident" with the postal inspectors. Pretty scary. Thread
  24. got to remember to be more outraged when drilled for marketing stuff like you guys. Dicks asked me for DOB today, didn't occur to me to refuse, but she got it down wrong anyway. Probably for their marketing profile. Sucks. Too much info out there already. Ever see those sites like peoplefinders.com ? You can stalk anybody you ever knew .
  25. I love the excuse...budget cuts. Learned a long time ago in corporate life, when somebody cuts your budget you "fight back" by cutting essentials like data center maintenance contracts, stuff that is literally the most mission critical stuff. Cut back the stuff that hurts the most and the fastest. As we have seen our own Dear Leader doing. Meanwhile Airbus is moving a plant to Alabama..is it possible the tanker deal is up for reconsideration?
