  1. Florida had a carjacking problem with rental cars leaving the Miami Airport identified as targets by the license plates. The Florida solution was to announce that the carjackers could be shot by the victims without any legal penalties. Problem stoped. I also remember a similar solution to the same problem in New Orleans. Dave Zawicki
  2. correction...the rear sight was a REDFIELD 75... NOT A wINCHESTER 75. Dave Zawicki
  3. My Mother bought me a Winchester Mod-75 target model on my 14th birthday from Bambergers Dept Store in Newark Nj. The orginal rear sight was a Winchester 75 with a globe front sight and a bunch of inserts. I used it all thru the NRA junior program progressing thru all the stages. One hole 5 shot groups prone at 75 feet indoors on the East Orange YMCA indoor range. I still shoot and enjoy it 63 years later. Dave Zawicki
  4. Glocks can be a little bit of a challange for the new shooter due to the trigger/saftey arrangement. First, decide what you want to use the pistol for....IDPA,bullseye,causal plinking, self defense than make a decision on caliber and revolver vs semi auto. from Roseland
  5. took class 7-20,received permit today 9-7. DAZ
  6. I was a member of a once thriving outdoor 25 and 50 yd bullseye range in the Meadowlands that had been in a remote section of Seacacus since the 1960’s. Over the years new houses and Condos were built closer to the range and after a legal battle we were forced to abandon the outdoor 50 yd turning target bullseye range with about 40 firing points due to noise and safety issues. ( Cherry Ridge is the only 50 yd outdoor range remaining in north NJ ) D. Zawicki
  7. Revolvers required more care under battlefield conditions to keep dirt out of the action, individual soldiers could not repair revolvers in the field because many parts had to be fitted when replaced, and cylinders became warped due to improper closing and ejector rods were easy to bend... 8. The New Jersey Arms Collectors Assoc. has maintained an active Rifle Range in Allamuchy Township for more than 50 years. An attorney purchased land adjacent to the right side of the 100 yd berm and built a house there about 4 years ago. He claimed to have found a (some?) bullet on his property and claiming they came from our range had the Township declare the range unsafe and it was closed. We are still hoping to continue to use the range, it has not been abandoned. Our existence pre-dates the creation of the Planning Board and the adoption of any zoning ordinances. By NJ State Law, we are 'grandfathered' in for Noise Complaints. In 1973, a bill was signed into law that Exempted Ranges in existence prior to 1973 from Local Noise Ordinance Complaints. Even though we are temporarily restrained from using the range, as it exists for safety issues, we shall continue to maintain the property for its intended use until such time as we sell or abandon the property. As such the property will continue to be posted as an active Rifle Range. The attorney has since sold his home and moved. Dave Zawicki
  9. As a member of a Army pistol team in the 60's, we used to keep a .50 cal ammo can with kerosene for cleaning weapons . A stiff parts brush, the can of kerosene and you could get rid of the hard crud that formed in the pistol from a 2700. I still use the method for detailed cleaning followed by a rubdown with a good gun oi Dave Zawickl.
