I know legally I can walk into a gun store & buy a rifle & shotgun everyday & a handgun every 30 days if I have a p2p but does there come a point when you get a knock on the door from the njsp asking you why you have X amount of guns? I would imagine they have no right to do that but in this day and age who really knows????

Can't say about nj but in NYC Each precinct was different but make no mistake, each precinct had a quota. Usually set by the commanding officer of that precinct. It is NYC so it was more heavy on parking summonses than anything else. For example, one precinct I worked in you had to write one book of parkers (25) 3 moving & 1 red light summons a month. Like I said, each precinct was different but generally around that amount. I remember a buddy of mine left & went to a PD in rockland county & he was fascinated that they didn't care about writing tickets at all.

Not to sound like a guy wearing a tinfoil hat or anything, I would like to have a little ammo put away in case the SHTF. Don't worry, I'm not hiding in my basement, just would like to be prepared. So I guess that would fall under the HD category right???

Hey everyone. Just wondering what the difference is in ammo. Since I got an FID card it's the first time I have been around guns and ammo that hasn't been issued to me! Before this I went to the range twice a year, was handed a couple of boxes with a hundred rounds in each of them, shot them from 7, 15 & 25 yards & then went home. We didn't have any choice of what ammo to use so I never did any research into it since it didn't matter. Now I go to buy ammo & there is 20 different brands/varietys of ammo for say a 9mm. Can anyone give me the basics of what is good/bad/differences? Thanks in advance!!!

I can honestly say I do not know anyone I ever worked with who would break the balls of a jersey cop doing work in NYC. I do remember one time jersey cops chasing a car over the gwb into my precinct & they were treated very well by every cop they encountered in NYC. Saying all this I haven't been on the job since 1998 and from what I'm told and what I observed myself the standards do not seem to be getting any higher.

And kpd pipes, just because it says it in the movie doesn't mean it's true. For one, frank Lucas, the dea, Ritchie Roberts or the Essex county prosecutors office had nothing to do with any cops in NYC getting locked up.

Why would any of you care if the NYCPD is Keeping tabs on Muslims in NJ? They are a lot more competent than the Feds. First off, disclaimer, I was a cop in NYC. In saying that, by sheer volume of how many cops in the department and the fact that there is more crime in one year in most NYC precincts than a suburban cop will see in 25 NYC has the best investigators in the country. We also have the biggest incompetents also but they are not the ones sent to spy on camel jockeys in nj. In saying all that, I think having cops go to Virginia and investigate gun shops and PA to sit in parking lots of fireworks stores to see if any NY plates pull up is friggin ridiculous.

How hard is it to get and why don't more people get them? Wouldn't it save you a whole lot of money if you were cutting out the middle man?

Ok, so I got my firearms id card a few months ago. Also got 3 permits and will be buying my a sig 9mm next week which will the last of my 3 permits used up. My question is, now that I have a firearms ID card, next time I want to get a permit to purchase do I have to go through the whole process of fingerprinting, references, mental health checks etc......

So what your saying is I can buy a bb gun in PA and as long as I transport it locked in my trunk back to my house I'm good to go. The police do not ever have to be notified that I bought one? It would be pretty funny to have your FID yanked because of a stupid pellet gun!
