  1. Very cool. congrats on the success. I have a serious question. Has anyone tried eating one? if so how was it? Reason I ask is my wife and son just got there hunter education cert yesterday and my son was asking whats in season besides turkey. lol. My son has been taught that anything we shoot we have to use/eat. Over the years (long time ago) I have killed a couple for farmers but never tried to eat them. just curious if anyone has tried it. again congrats on the success. I see those pics and I see lots of cows/horses happy that there will less holes to step in. Nick
  2. Welcome. Burlington county resident as well. Nick
  3. the Mossbergs i shot favored Winchester ammo. I honestly haven't seen the benefit of 3 1/2" ammo. is more expensive and recoil is insane. I 've killed a few with 3" Winchester supreme #5s. this season im trying a 20gauge and im using the hevi shot blend in 3" 20ga. it a mixture of 5, 6, and 7 shot. in NJ you cant use shot smaller than 7 1/2. just an fyi. If you had to pick one shell/brand I'd go with 3" Winchester in 5s. shoot at 20, 30 and 40 yards. use the free targets off of the NJ fish game site(you print them). Nick
  4. Thanks guys. yea after I posted I got off my arse and dug a little bit on Fish & game website. Thanks again. Nick
  5. anybody know where the get the dvd/paperwork in Burlington county area? I asked at dicks sporting goods and he said they don't carry them anymore. should I just do the online route (pay). its for my wife and 10 year old son. Thanx. Signed them up for the 4/11 class at Telco. Neither may end up actually hunting but both enjoy shooting and I look at this as training and any training is good training. Nick
  6. Edlemans. blast from the past. grew up in Pennsauken (im 40 now) and that place WAS my ToY store. lol. We would go to edlemans, strattons, and another smallplace in medford (mikes). get most ammo online. may go to sportsmnens or Cheyenne. sometimes to dicks sporting goods as I have 3 of them within 20 minutes of me. Nick
  7. I just think the newspaper was incorrect in there wording. The only rifle he could have had legally for deer was a muzzle loading rifle. Or a regular if he was coyote hunting. Again I think the paper is misinformed.
  8. Hello from another Burlington county neighbor. Nick
  9. Welcome to the site. im not far from ya. I currently am not at a particular range member at this moment but check out Telco(atco) and Range 14 at fort dix. Nick
  10. yea it happens (not recovering). if/when I knock a bird down I try to get to the spot as soon as possible....SAFELY.
  11. /\ what he said. show up and they will put you thru. they aren't turning down an opportunity to make a few $$. Nick
  12. with a double late in the year I have high brass 6s in the first barrel and high brass 5s in the 2nd barrel. hunting over a dog with a single barrel gun I' have the IC choke in the gun and have 7 1/2s as the first shot and 6s as follow up. Nick
  13. very nice. please don't post a pic of that meal as I will either break a finger going for it or chip a tooth! lol. sounds like fun. I live 20 minutes from there but have never been there. shame on me. Im off every third weekend and every Tuesday if someone needs a 4th! lol. congrats on the great day. Nick
  14. I'd start with pyrodex for now. get your gun/scope sighted in and on paper. I've shot pyrodex in my encore. no issues. Nick
  15. I've used blackhorn and I like it. its a little less smoke at the shot and does clean up a little easier but I think powder/gun/bullet still has to be tweaked and researched by the shooter to see what works best in your gun when it comes to accuracy. its not a shortcut for accuracy. marketing would lead you to believe so but its not the case. I've never tried the pellets b/c I've seen a couple interesting situations with them at ranges so I've chosen to not use them. those situations may have been a shooter issue rather than a pellet issue but for now I'll pass. lol. pyrodex in my T/C White Mountain Carbine and blackhorn in my T/C Stainless Encore. 275gr T/C maxi hunter in front of 80gr of pyrodex in the WMC and 80gr of BH behind a T/C cheapshot 250gr all lead saboted bullet. no need for a jacketed bullet on deer in this general area. I get pass thrus 9 out of 10 times. most deer will less than 150lb and by big game standards they are thin skinned and on the small side. Nick
  16. youth model in either Remington 870 or Mossberg 500. 20 ga. barrel is shorter (home defense). both have different placement of the safety. comes down to personal preference. with todays ammo the 20ga can keep up with the 12 on the clay/skeet field. as for home defense 20ga does have a factory loads for buckshot. #2 and or #3 buckshot. I've used it on deer out to 25 yards no problem. Im fairly certain the bad guys cannot tell the difference between 12ga or a 20ga in the dark or between 12ga buck or 20ga buck. especially inside of 30'. lol. Nick
  17. This guy is the crossbow guru and backs anything he sells 1000%. browse his site and feel free to email him any questions he will get back to you. I picked his brain a few years ago when I got a crossbow. he was/is extremely knowledgeable and very informative. www.wyverncreations.com
  18. not familiar with the make/model but for that price it seems to be a good starting point. I have a strykezone 350. extremely accurate and fun to shoot. just like anything else it can be deadly so it should be treated as such. do NOT dry fire the crossbow meaning pull the trigger when its cocked with out an arrow/bolt in/on it. if that happens the limbs can split/shatter causing injury. do not use wood arrows use only bolts that's are recommended for that draw weight crossbow. Nick
  19. still available. less than $30 with 5.99 shipping. Nick
  20. very nice lower. Nick
