  1. I have no information other than what's in the article. If it's true that's a big black eye for an organization that I know a chunk of people on the forums here have a good amount of respect for. Sucks when a few dumb people ruin it for everyone else I guess. I hope it's exaggerated, but if its not I hope the cops roll on those involved and they all lose their cars, licenses and get hefty fines & community service. http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2012/04/nj_state_troopers_face_probe_f.html
  2. ahh yes, sorry I should've mentioned that. I do only have 10 rd mags for both those guns.
  3. I'm going back for alumni weekend in upstate NY and I'm wondering if I can bring a couple rifles up there and shoot. Anybody know if there's gonna be any problems with that? I'd be bringing a .223 Mini-14 and my 10/22. I don't see any issue with it based on what I can find online but thought I'd check with anybody who may have actually done it.
  4. yeah Maks mentioned Paul's are in-stock about a week ago so I'll get my hands on a couple now before they're bought up. Thanks for the info!
  5. Cool thanks, I just didn't know that's the part of the process we were at. Getting the unique product certainly worth the wait. In the meantime I'll prob order a couple of those metal ones from A&A
  6. got a link? i did some googling but couldn't find anything referencing that
  7. +1...I ordered 5 for my new AR, need to order something else if they're not here soon so I can shoot!

    Walther PPQ

MAGFA915 is the Magnum Research model number you want. I just finished an IDPA match with my PPQ using these mags exclusively with zero issues. I'm pretty sure both the Walther and the Magnum Research are made by MecGar in Italy and they just slap a different butt plate on the bottom. So if you're not obsessed with your magazines saying "PPQ" insteady of "Baby Desert Eagle" you can save some money with zero function impact.
  9. Damn...epic fail There was actually one stage that started at low ready too! You missed a few moving targets and some "machine gun" zombie action. Pretty good day even though I had two FTNs (with good groups though!)...lots of new ppl
  10. I just ordered the LW-15 lower on Monday and it shipped on Tuesday...now I'm gonna have it sitting in my safe waiting for my Stag 2HT upper
  11. I haven't been fishing since I was about 10 and I'd like to at least have some equipment around the house in case I decide I'd like to catch my own dinner for a change. So I've got some real rookie questions and will probably be laughed at, but if you have answers from experience or could point me to some sites relevant to our area that'd be much appreciated. So far i've found this (http://www.fishingreportsnow.com/New_Jersey_Fishing_Reports_Pro.cfm/reg/5/city/172/cityname/Central-Jersey.html) plus an NJ fishing forum...but I like you guys better 1) Is there even anything decent to catch around here (central nj)? What kind of fish (freshwater) do we have? 2) Recommendations on an inexpensive rod & reel combo that's NOT made in China? Yes I'm willing to spend more, I'm just sick of sending more money to China and dealing with crap customer service WHEN it breaks...because my luck/experience is that it's not an IF but a WHEN. 3) bait/lures for said fish that work on said rod/reel combo I'm gonna be at Cabelas in CT next weekend and hope to be able to bother some poor employee into helping me as well, but if you guys have any silver bullets based on your local experience I'd appreciate the input.
  12. i'll be there, and i voted for the hi-power because i've never seen one in person

    Kel-Tec KSG

i wonder how much of that is because this thing pwns noobs in Call of Duty? seriously all the other shotguns must use buckshot and this one uses slugs in that game because I die across a map from it. Regardless I'd definitely buy one once the price settles down
  14. I guess this would be the real inexpensive: http://www.usaammo.com/AR-Lite-M4-Carbine-AR15-P869.aspx
  15. Followed his lead, after some additional research landed on the same lower and the Stag 2HT upper because I wanted free float quad rails and iron sights. With a little more than expected for shipping plus 5 15 round mags ordered here in the forums I should be right around 900. Will post pics when everything comes in!
  16. Agree with murphy. After a lot of research I found sturdysafe.com. 100% american, they fabricate their own streek and make safes out of 7 gauge. Seems less expensive than paying for the fort knox name. Haven't decided yet but they're in the running since the only place I can put my safe is in my utility room the real fire protection is something I need
  17. updates on additional questions I asked RobArms. 2 business day turnaround on email over the holiday weekend. Hope this helps anybody else thinking about the XCR...I've since decided to save some cash and build an AR since it'll be my first "evil black rifle". - would these mods be permanent or would I be able to undo them with factory parts/service down the road when I hopefully move out of NJ? I guess I'd specifically be talking about the stock, since the barrel device must be permanently attached Because of New Jersey's restriction on both folding and collapsing stocks, it would need to be replaced as a unit since there is not a version of the FAST that is fully fixed. - I've just started my research, so interested in anything you can tell me about your product and how it compares/contrasts to other newer model assault rifles such as the FN SCAR and the Bushmaster ACR. I don't have very much experience with either rifle outside of a show room, but I can comment that most people seem to have a problem with the SCAR's bulk and reciprocating charging handle. The ACR - I also read somewhere that the XCR was in line for the SOCOM contract a few years back but was disqualified on a technicality. Would you be able to elaborate on this at all? Not a key point in my decision making as I understand the sometimes illogical stringent constraints of milspec sometimes result in fine products being DQ'd, but I'd just like to know a little more about it. I was not with the company during that time and have been able to glean very little of the circumstances surrounding the issue. If the company doesn't have an official statement on my second and third points above that's fine, just let me know that and I'll go off the hearsay on internet forums. I also have a few followup questions/concerns: - 1 year warranty? Does this mean 400 days after I buy my rifle and the stock breaks, or some internal part malfunctions after only light use (I don't get to shoot as often as I like) the company won't service it? Or I will be charged more for it? It depends on the situation. I've only charged 2 individuals for service on an out of warranty rifle and those were clear cases of operator error/negligence. - What costs are associated with warranty service? shipping? gunsmithing charge? etc... Generally just shipping and it does depend on the work performed. - I assume if I bought a conversion kit it would included a permanently attached muzzle device at the stated price below? There is a $50 fee for the permanent installation. - Are the NJ compliant magazines sent pinned at 15 rounds, are they custom 15 round mags, or some standard 10 round mag? They are supplied with standard 10 round magazines, but any STANAG pattern magazine will function.
  18. are all these things spoken for? can i get some of these? ignore, went thru the whole thread and saw the link at the beginning. gonna order some metal ones from PK90
  19. do you think that mount would put the optics above a non-folding iron sight? I'm not expecting both to work at the same time, just trying to figure if I can get a quickly attachable scope mount and not worry about spending the extra money for folding BUIS
  20. Couldn't find a good sub-forum to post this, and also couldn't find an existing post, so point me to it if there is one. Anyway, I'm looking for a gun safe in the 10-14 gun size range (I only have 3 right now...but as you've all said, the collection grows). My main constraint, besides not wanting to spend a fortune, is that it needs to be under 33" in width to fit in the only place I have to put a safe in my house. This is primarily to keep the guns away from kids and to a lesser extent anybody who makes it into my house looking for stuff. I'm pretty set on a non-electric based locking mechanism. I'd love mechanical but that doesn't really seem feasible so I'll get a combination or a key/combo dual. There's a zillion companies that make safes and the primary differences I can see is the modularity of the interior (of which I am a huge fan...Browning & Winchester seem to lead here but they're super pricey) and fire rating. Past that do I need to care about the various types of steel or size of locking bolts and such in any serious fashion? Any fantastic raves, amazing deals, or horror stories of ones I should avoid? Question applies to both manufacturer/product as well as retailers I guess. Thanks KeithCo88
  21. Hey, sorry to resurrect an old thread but I was thinking about taking this class and had a few questions (thanks for existing info btw...very helpful!): 1) I'm TOTALLY new to ARs so am I going to be looked at oddly in here for having no knowledge what-so-ever? 2) Does your Brownells discount stay in effect forever? For a year? How long? 3) I've heard building an AR takes a ton of tools that would be really expensive to build up. Do you feel you could strip down your AR and put it back together with the tools you have at home, or have you been exercising the discount to get some of the tools? 4) How did it shoot?
  22. Just researching magazine cost...leads me to the CZ, Savage mags are damn expensive unless I'm looking at the wrong ones. I love the concept of the MVP using AR mags but I've seen a chunk of negative reviews about fit & finish issues from the factory, to be expected with a new production gun I suppose. All the other "detachable mag" .223 bolt guns have a really hokey way of reloading them. To me anyway, like I said I've got zero experience with bolt guns but it just seems so much more practical to slap a mag in the bottom than to need to feed rounds in one at a time. Am I totally missing something here? I read the owners manual for the Remington 700 SPS and it says it's a hinged floorplate design. Didn't see any with detachable box mag. Plus when I google for the magazines nothing comes back except a conversion kit from Brownells and some hilarious forum threads about dudes that wish it was basically the MVP.
  23. Have you shot the mvp? I'm leery of the first adopter risk
