  1. This as I JUST bought a hoppes 9 kit at Dicks... lol Well maybe having extra is never a bad thing.
  2. If you bought at the height of the market, be prepared to stay for quite some time. I bought as the market had already peaked and was slowly declining and I find my property value considerably less then purchase cost. The ONLY light at the end of the tunnel is that as history proves, the housing market is cyclical and prices ALWAYS eventually go up. Some get lucky, buy their homes cheap and sell to make a considerable equity profit later down the line. Most folk that bought from 2002-2006 will be lucky to break even if they stay in their homes long enough. But again, being as optimistic as I usually am, all prices of homes eventually increase, so if you can tolerate living in NJ (meh) long enough, you will be able to recoup costs down the road.
  3. Just because you can... doesnt mean you should... http://gizmodo.com/5...entuated-rifles
  4. Very nice.. What type is this and *gulp* how much did it cost **edit** WInchester Ranger? Just saw the pic description. Model/Size?
  5. I can see how it happens... favorable opinions lead to justification of the gun at hand, whereas the negative opinions of it usually lead to a recommendation the person replying believes to be more suitable. It doesnt mean either side is wrong or right.. especially in a market where variety is the spice of life.
  6. Are there any solutions for safes where handguns are the prominent weapon of the safe. I know as I build a collection I would like to incorporate an AR and a Shotty, but my own tastes lean towards handguns. Is there such as style safe that will allow modular boxes to include 2-4 long guns and the remaining built for storing handguns/ammo/accessories?
  7. One thing ive learned over the years in "studies" is that they can be skewed by sample groups. In 1977... did they REALLY ask every household in America if they owned a gun? and to further my point.. what type of data sampling did they use to come to the conclusion of their new findings.. Its very hard to get accurate evidence regarding people's stance when 300 million people are the target. On a side note, you'd think that a study done by the Violence Policy Center is as biased as the Tobacco co's telling us their study shows that smoking actually cures cancer and not causes it.
  8. As an entry level gun owner the best (and only) advice is to go to your local range, spend 60 bucks on renting 4 or so pistols and weighing your own opinion on which one you feel most comfortable with. If you only plan on buying one pistol.. make it the one you are most comfortable with shooting. I did the aforementioned and ran through the list of all of the above +1 not mentioned and settled for that +1. So as obvious as the previous posts before mine, there are those that have found THEIR handgun that's their go to piece. You go out and put some rounds down range with an assortment of guns and see which one best suits you. ~advice form a n00b~
  9. Major locations of the Revolutionary War (Trenton,Monmouth) Princeton Univ.... Major Military Installments (Dix/McGuire/Lakehurst) Hindenburg disaster (i know not good, but notable) Bruce Springsteen (duh) Hamilton-Burr Duel (when shooting people was civilized) I may add a few here and there but these stick out at me for being staples of NJ's history. NJ Turnpike... not many roads as dense, regularly traveled, and now highly unaffordable to commute like the NJTP.
  10. Really eying up this one. Cabelas showing $275 http://www.gunvault.com/speedvault-biometric-svb500.html Not for everyone I guess, but Id like something to mount between the bed and nightstand on the wall. Quick access and permanant mounting. Id shy away from the biometric option due to complaints of overall biometric sensor degradation in the safe/vault field.
  11. 1. Application type Initial FID Request + Permit 2. Police Department where you applied. Manchester 3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD. Unknown Clerk at Records 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit. 24 days 5. Documents required by the PD (aside from the standard application and the mental health release form).Notarized document stating I am not a drug/alcohol abuser. Fingerprinted at a third party location for the background check ($60) 6. Notes - anything pertaining to the application process (unforeseen difficulties, chief of police calling your home, you hiring an attorney, etc.). Shocked at the admittance of the clerk it should take 3 months for the request to be approved, and even more shocked that the approval notice came in 24 days. Way to go Manchester!
  12. Disliked* and tossed in Victimization by Legislation. Prohibit the law abiding citizens from arming and protecting themselves against the criminals that dont care about how many laws they are breaking as they gun down innocent civilians. TAIM "Taxpayers Against Ignorant Mayors"
  13. Weekend shooting seems to be BRUTAL at BA and SS. I stopped in SS Sunday night close to closing and the place was still packed. Happen to be lucky enough to be off during off-peak hours for a little peace and quiet.
  14. 6. All calibers of pistols may be fired. 7. Rifles up to .300 Magnums may be fired. 8. NO birdshots may be fired from shotguns. 9. Tracer, armor piercing and steel core ammunition are prohibited. http://www.brick-arm...id=49&Itemid=54
  15. Was searching the google machine on NJ specific gun laws and this popped up. Seemed to be a no brainer to join up and add to the community.
  16. Just dropping by to introduce myself. Im a resident of Manchester. Grew up in Old Bridge. Work as a firefighter and am anxiously awaiting my FID and pistol permit. (dunno what took me so long) Have been out shooting at Shore Shot and look to check out Brick Armory in the near future. Looking to pick up a Sig p226 .40 (two tone) for my first and expand my collection by at least another 2 handguns, an AR, and a Shotgun. Love having a valuable resource for information regarding weapons in general and more specifically how NJ bastardizes the process of procuring such. Interested in range firing and HD (hoping the need never arises) Look forward to contributing to the site and showing off the goods when the steel meets hand. Thanks for having me
