Problem solved - user error. I had swapped out the butt stock a few times. I put on an ATI stock and changed back to the standard stock. Along the way I neglected to put the spacer in. This kept the trigger assembly from sliding back enough to clear the tabs. All the info you guys posted way helpful. It showed me that the trigger assembly needed to slide backwards, not just down. Thank You!

Thanks everyone I still can't seem to get it. Feels like it is hung up on something. I will keep at it. This could be the excuse I've been looking for to upgrade to the 590A1 SPX I've had my eye on.

Is there a trick to removing the trigger group from a Mossberg 500 or a problem that can keep it from coming out? I pulled the pin, have the bolt 1/2 way, barrel off. Trigger group will not come out.

I think I'd go with the Shield in 9mm

Found the extractor plunger and spring in my range bag. Went ahead an ordered a titanium extractor and a few other minor upgrades. Nice little project to do next weekend.

Took my 10/22 TD to the range. Constant FTF after the first few mags. Figured the extractor was warn out. Got a new one, took the bolt apart. Extractor and spring were missing. Ever heard of this?
