  1. really? i just picked up a M11-A1. well i put my NICS paperwork in since they were backed up today due to the snow storm yesterday so i should get the call tomorrow. but i've heard good things about their CS. care to explain a little more?

My sig would not group at all. Atleast 5 different people shot it with the same results. was all over the place. Called their customer service. They said well what kind ammo am i using. I told them I had tried remington umc, sellier & bellot, pmc, and blazer brass. They pretty much told me Im using too cheap of ammunition and that there was nothing they can do. I explained to them that I have never had a problem with that ammo in any of my other guns. They didnt seem to care. So I sold it. Ive since shot a few others which seemed fine but not sure what all of the hype is about.

  2. I think if you're on chains, the down angle isn't as critical (but doesn't hurt).  The plate will naturally swing when the bullet hits it, so a lot of the energy is absorbed.

I have a similar setup and haven't had any problems yet.  Although expect your wood frame to get chewed up, as the shrapnel just blasts it from all angles.

whats the closest you get to your targets?

  3. Do you use your gun when you sweat? I do. My results with the stuff I have used that the video has is in line with their results. In my experience, CLP outperforms frog lube in corrosion resistance by a bit and neither are super awesome.

IMO frog lube is NOT worth the price. I was jazzed for a non stinky wax/grease, and it doesn't cut it compared to most every other grease I have used in terms of staying where you put it. The liquid is on par with CLP at a higher price, but it smells not too awful, which might justify it for you.

Currently, I use FP-10. a teeny bit more than CLP, it has a kind of cinnamon like scent to it. A coating lasts longer, but corrosion protection is about the same.

I really don't rely on anything to CLP. THE C part gets done by a separate product, I just want a good all around LP. They all seem to be not that far apart unless you start going with a separate lube and protectant. Unfortunately simultaneous use of most L and P standalone products is contraindicated.

There are three I actively avoid. 1) Wilson grease. It's not a grease IMO, and does not stay in place well as well as not cleaning or protecting. kind of a waste of money. 2) Boeshield. t-9. I've only ever found the spray. It's a decent protectant, but aa crap lube. It dries to a weird coating. On polished surfaces, not so bad, on matte surfaces it seems to stay sticky and pick up dust and lint. The real killer is that it penetrates, and I have had it cause unsafe conditions on multiple 1911 pattern guns by negatively interfering with the fire control parts. 3) militec-1. The stuff seemed to actively promote corrosion. Total crap as a lube. I got mine as a free sample in a grab bag and was pissed with the results.

i do use my guns when i sweat on a hot summer day. that is still far from the corrosion tests. I clean my guns after the range. I dont leave them out in the elements for 2 months.

  4. What ammo are you shooting out of your 930? I picked one up used and jams every other.

What 930 do you have?  My JM Pro eats everything.... except the cheapcrap walmart Winchester Bulk.

I have the 930wf with 28 inch ported barrel. I use it for trap/skeet. I just use the cheap remington and winchester tareget loads. # 7 1/2 or 8. Cycles flawlessy.

Is your gun together correctly? make sure the spacer tube and the pusher assembly are not flip flopped.

  5. I've burned my 1st two permits already. So, maybe, in another 1/2 year,  I'll look at getting two more. I'd be looking at upgrading from 9mm to .45acp. So, maybe a 1911 .45acp. Perhaps a .45LC revolver.

But there are other, more current priorities. Specifically, a 12G.  Probably a 930 class semi-auto.

    I purchased a 930 not long ago. Kicks @ss!

As to what i want next? thinking a gen 4 g34. Been wanting to build a race gun for some time and glock seems to have the available parts at the cheapest prices.

  6. I've already fallen in love with my brand new fresh build, just picked it up

started life as a S&W 627 4" pro series, add titanium cylinder, hogue big butts, apex hammer, 6.5" barrel off a 27-2, hogue extended release,  SDM fiber, Weigand Rear, trigger job, mmm mmm mmm

I have a 686 with 6" barrel and love it as well! good choice!

  7. Since you started this thread, wouldn't it make sense for you to say what your favorite pistol is?

Well mine is the legendary model 29, but I don't have one just yet. So I have to say its my model 19 for now

your absolutely right haha. im sorry. My current favorite is my para usa elite pro 1911.

  8. I was wondering if anyone has shot a gen 4 glock 19 and a gen 4 glock 23 extensively.

I'm not looking to start a caliber war, but was curious if there is a big difference in perceived recoil / snappiness between the two using both FMJ target ammo and SD rounds?

    Thanks !

yes big difference. both are controllable but the 23 is definitely snappier

  9. Had this question for a while now, I'm aware that if you move from out of state you're not required to register your weapons but are handguns bought here registered?

yes definitely! they know every gun you purchase in nj. last time i applied for a pistol purchase permit i forgot to sign one of the forms. the lady at my local pd said how did you miss that? you have done this plenty of times... that indicated to me that every permit ive applied for is in their system

  10. I shot a steel target mounted on a 4"X4" post with my AR from about 25 yds and a friend that was standing about 5 yds behind and to the left of me was hit in the chin with a fragment. It made a small cut and a trickle of blood but thankfully no major injury.

sounds like two problems here. #1 a rifle shooting a steel target is a recommended distance of 100yds minimum. the other problem is from what i understand a steel target should never be fixed to a solid post unless angled down.

  11. i am building a target stand with ar500 steel targets. two 8", one 3", and one 10" gong. they are hanging targets. i have them mounted to two chains each. they all slightly lean downward. Anyone ever have any issue with richocet? the way i have it setup shouldnt be a problem. Just curious if anyone has ever been hit by a richocet from a steel target

  12. Never had problems using M Pro 7, Militec, or Breakfree CLP.  Was curious about Frog Lube but I don't want to waste the money I spent on the previous lubes..maybe I'll look into those when my current supply run out.  Same with FireClean.

This vid might be able to help you decide

I never go by those videos. there is tons of them on youtube. they all have different results. It doesnt test the oil how it's used on a gun. I dont leave my guns outside in the elements and i dont spray salt or fresh water on them either. all those videos show is corrosion resistance if you forgot your gun outside for 2 months. Im more interested in whats gonna protect my finish in a high friction and heat environment. Those tests dont show which cleaners work better or what lubrication handles wear better.

I used mpro on my gun last night. Reason being? I was a little nervous that it would be tough to get the froglube paste out of the 25LPI gripping
