  1. Check mailed 11/22, check cashed 1/18, got permit 1/25
  2. I don't drink, but if I live long enough to be able to carry in New Jersey, I will be happy to have my first Blanton's since 1979 with you.
  3. Application mailed 11/22. Check cleared 1/18. Awaiting permit.
  4. Haven't got mine yet. Mailed the check 11/22 and called1/4 and left message. Got a callback 1/6 and was told they are just now just starting on November applications. She said I should get it a couple of days after the check is cashed. As of today my check has not been cashed.
  5. IF this bill is passed as written, I'll bet NJ starts issuing CCW's to get in on the $$$ it would collect by issuing them. I for one would not get a NJ CCW and look to see which state issues the cheapest out of state CCW and get theirs. For all the years they have been denying us, it would put a smile on my face to be carrying in NJ and knowing that not one dime for the permit I have is going to this state. I would hope that others fell the same way, as they say "payback is a bitch."
  6. I have an XDS45 also and never took noticed this. Laying a business card across the end of the barrel, my guide rod protrudes exactly as far as the barrel.
  7. The northern 1/3 of N.H. is the mountain section and is pretty remote EXCEPT the Conway area because of the outlets. Expect lots of traffic in that area and there is no way around it. Also, north of Jackson about 50 miles is the town of Errol that has a huge hunting and sporting goods store.
  8. In Conway and North Conway there are a ton of places to eat and a lot of outlet stores, a train museum and white mountain firearms. About 50 miles down the road in Wolfeboro there is the Wright museum, a WW2 museum about what was happening in the U.S. during the war, war bonds, gas rationing, victory gardens etc. Also in that town there is a antique boat museum, but I didn't find that all that interesting, but I'm not interested in old boats.
  9. I have a champion generator and it ran 18 hours a day during Sandy for 17 days. Never missed a beat or failed to start. Funny story, during sandy my son went down to Lowes for something and saw a dozen generators lined up outside. This was when you couldn't find one anywhere. When he asked a sales guy about them he was told they were being returned. Seems no one told the buyers that they are shipped without oil in them, even though there is oil bottles in the shipping box.
  10. Funny thing, I was in the navy during the Viet Nam era and got a letter from the VFW to join them after my first cruise............it was to Bermuda.
  11. If he belongs to the VFW I would have a talk with the commander of his post.
  12. Am I missing something here? You say bullet hole isn't bad at $10 a 1/2 hour, and you plan on going three time a month, that's $30, times 12 that's $360 a year. RTSP is $350 a year membership and you get the membership bennies of the early start etc...
  13. All of us that have lost a dog know your pain. Sorry for your loss.
  14. I googled "how to file a FOIA request" and it looks like it could get very expensive for an individual to do. I also looked up the form for applying for a CCW and lines through 9-11 ask name and address of employer. Somehow I don't believe that the state does not keep these forms so I think they do have a way to look up the number of private, everyday citizens that have CCW's. I'm sure the file those records are kept in isn't that thick.
  15. To me, the names are not important, what I would like to know is: What is the total number of CCW permits issued by the state. How many of them were issued to citizens that are not ex LEO, ex judges, or never held political office. I don't see why that information could not be made public.
  16. This was discussed at the safe conference by the trooper. I left after the power went out, and Evan Nappen was to speak later. I also went to the conference in Morristown a week or so ago and Nappen was the speaker there also. The question came up again about loaded magazines and he said you can not have loaded magazines while transporting. I questioned him after the meeting and he said he corrected the SP officer and corrected it the second time he spoke, which was after I had left. Who do you trust NJSP or Nappen? I'll load my magazines when I get to where I'm going and trust Nappen for legal advice.
  17. Great idea. Someone should send them a map of the United States with a circle and arrow to show them where we are.
  18. nice gesture it will never pass Go back to watching F troop and complaining on this forum. There are plenty of gun rights groups who promise to try to correct NJ's problem (just join and send in your dues and remember "your dues is NOT enough") Here is a chance although slim to try and do something for free! Over one million gun owners in the state and if everyone called multiple times it would over load the switchboard. I for one am not going to sit back and do nothing and complain on the forums and chat rooms. I forwarded this to everyone in my address book and hope they do the same.
  19. Nappen was the only speaker though someone from the US shield gave the intro and short pitch to join the organization.
  20. Went to Morristown last night and Nappen was the speaker, Three hours with a break in the middle. First half was Nappen explaining N.J. gun laws and do's and don'ts. The second half was Q&A. All questions answered and he even stayed for a while after it was over to answer more questions. Show was hosted by U.S. law shield, and during the break they are selling memberships and are a little too forward for my liking. I am not familiar with their group and just wanted more info before joining and he just kept saying "this deal is only good tonight". Sort of like time share salesman. Did some research today and I will probably join, but I will go to the New Brunswick show to get the "special deal only good tonight".
  21. Thanks grumpyoldretiree, I went to see Mr Zorn today, and although not out of the woods yet there has been a huge step forward. A typo on the rejection letter made it seem he was being refused a FID because of a restraining order against him. That was not the case, a far easier problem exists that should be easier to correct. Hoping it will be on the lower side of the cost that he quoted me.
  22. Sorry for being vague about this, but this is a public forum and I do not want to put out too much information as of now. We spoke to a lawyer 2 weeks ago and he said a phone call or an e-mail by us should resolve the problem, but calls and e-mails are not being returned. A letter from a lawyer would carry more weight in getting an answer so we can go on to the next step. In my first post I did ask if anyone knew a firearm friendly lawyer in the Somerville area. I know of Nappen's reputation, but you don't need F Lee Bailey for a simple will or a cannon to take care of a chipmunk. And I do know that F Lee Bailey is dead.
  23. It is a problem with a FID card and as of now I think a simple letter from a lawyer will resolve it. If it does get complicated Nappen will be contacted, but as of now, a local firearm lawyer will have to do. This is not my problem but a relatives and money is tight.
  24. Looking for a lawyer in the Somerville area that is firearm friendly. Do not want to post details as yet as I don't want to make matters worse. Thanks in advance.
  25. Start paying for things like adults? Reasonable amounts? Google "paving roads per mile" and you will find that the national average is $162,200 per mile, the state of MA pays $675,000 per mile. they are number two. And the winner(?) is New Jersey at $2,000,000 per mile. Makes me feel proud, we're number one! We're number one!
