  1. This is mounted on a range toy, an inexpensive Beretta neos. I have had it for about two years and this was the first problem I have had, haven't even had to change the battery. The red dot may be inexpensive, but I can hit within a 8- 10 inch circle of what I'm aiming at on a target at 25 yards, and that is the best I can do, no fault of the red dot or the pistol. Having the glue fail after about 5000 rounds through it is not suprising to me, and if the glue holds for another 5000 rounds, I'd be happy. I don't get rid of a truck when a windshield wiper fails or if it needs a new battery.
  2. Thanks for the offer bry@n but I got some crystal glue and the job is done. Good to know there are people on here offering help and suggestions for a rookie.
  3. Thanks junkmanted, it was a toss up between the crystal glue and trashing it for a quality optic. Hope I'm making the right choice.
  4. Have a sig sauer sts-081 and during shooting today the rear lens fell out. It is out of warranty but I called them anyway. They said they never heard of this before and offered no solution. I don't know if it is glass or plastic, but I do know what happens to some plastics if you use crazy glue, it hazes the lens beyond repair. Anybody else ever had this problem? Any suggestions? Possibly a jewelry shop?
  5. I drive to Florida a couple of times a year, I do not have a CCW, nor do I bring a pistol down there or back, but if I did I would just leave it in the trunk for the trip instead of stopping at state lines to holster up. One less hassle. Maybe take it out in N.C. when I stop for the night.
  6. No matter what tools you have at home, always loosen the lugs after having tires changed at a tire shop and tighen them with whatever you carry in the car. Chances are that is all you will have unless you get a flat in your driveway. And anti seize compound is your friend.
  7. Nothing wrong with two bikes. I have the concours for over 100 miles and a KLR650 for under 100 miles.
  8. My 2 cents. When you buy a car you can adjust the steering wheel, seats, windshield wiper speed, temperature and a lot of other things. Bikes generally come one way, and to find the one that is perfect for you would be a tough find. Be prepared to buy after market pegs, bars or seat to make it fit you. Watch out for people who highly recommend one brand or another that would not ride any other brand and never have. A good portion of BMW and Harley riders fall into this class. Do not use the internet for brand specific bikes, they all think their brand is the only one you should ride. Use the touring or sport touring sites. Then there are the people who say that their bike is the best they ever owned until the next year when they buy a new one, and then That is the best bike they ever owned. Some people have a tough time after spending 15-20K saying the bike sucks. As for me, I'm retired and travel X-country by bike most every year, have done it 8 times and can't wait till next year to do it again. First time was on a BMW K1100RS ( rear end went after 175K) now riding a 2008 concours 1400 which is more comfortable, but a whole lot heavier. Good luck finding the one that fits you.
  9. Don't forget to take it out before taking a bath. Don't want to take a bullet...........................
  10. Toll on 78 to get into PA after that no tolls at all.
  11. You don't say what town your leaving from or the town in S.C. you're going to but if you can get to 78 west, then 81 south to 77 south to 26 east will take you into Charleston S.C. I drive to FL at least 3-4 times a year and haven't been on the northern part of 95 in years. The only city you will have trouble with is Charlotte if you hit it at rush hour, Columbia is no problem. Of course an accident or road construction changes everything. Last time I went (May) there was no real construction to speak of. As of today, S.C. has the cheapest gas on the east, so top off there.
  12. Also applied on 6/7 and approved on 6/11. LGD said they got 150 approvals that day.
  13. I'm waiting for my permit to come in, but I ordered a 686 plus from Jim Flynn's and he told me he could have one in about a weeks time.
  14. Another shooter from warren township and I shoot at RTSP.
