  1. Little update on an old thread:

    Handgun:

Still just the two 9mm Glocks. However I'm picking up a smith 686 ssr in the next couple weeks once permits get in.

    Rifle:

.22 and .223/5.56. I am picking up a bolt action 308 scout rifle and I hope to build an AR10 in the future.

    Shotgun:

Still have my pump action 12ga and I recently added a 12ga semi auto to the mix since I'm obsessed with clays now. I'll probably stick with just 12 gauge for shotgun, that's quickly becoming my favorite type of gun. I want to get a little pistol grip backpack shotgun.

  2. Sooooo. After taking everything into consideration and finding an amazing deal...I'll be picking up a brand new A300 for an incredible price. I think it will allow me to get started in the sport while save some money for a really nice shotgun. Very excited and can't wait to get it out on the field next weekend. Pics soon!

  3. I am leaning toward getting a long barrel for the 870... But its hard to resist the Italian American song of the Beretta A300...any thoughts?

Also anyone have tips for beginner clay shooter? Might have to make a trip to the informal shoot.

  4. Went out skeet shooting for my first time this weekend....its like I fell in love with shooting all over again.

All I had was my Remington 870 Tactical with magpul furniture. I shot a 17 and 19!!

I shot a few birds from 3 station with a guy's benelli semi auto and instantly wanted one.

My upcoming wedding has my gun budget in the dumps. I figure I can spend about 600 tops for a new gun right now. Maybe by mid spring I can drop about double that.

I would love an auto loader but I think that's out of the question.

So - do I buy a used over under, or get a nice pump like a super nova and save up for my dream gun (Super Black Eagle 2 or Super Vinci)

My Remington has ghost ring sights on it so a long barrel is out unless I take off the ghost ring rail.

    Help!

  5. Well right now I think I need to concentrate on handgun.

I have a .22lr rifle and an AR pattern rifle in 556/.223 that isn't fully out together. I also have a 12ga shotgun.

I think after all the responses... I'll go with a good solid metal frame 9mm and a revolver that does spl and magnum rounds.

Then move on to finishing the AR and stocking ammo before I start moving on to other calibers/firearms.

FWIW once you pick up a 9mm and are ready for a revolver, you could consider the ruger Blackhawk convertible. It shoots 357mag/38spl and comes with a spare cylinder that you can use to shoot 9mm.

Really?! I need to check that out for sure.

  6. I see some rifle calibers in this thread.

Are you looking for rifle too, or just pistols?

  7. I keep guns for 3 reasons.

    1) Self defense

    2) range fun

    3) disaster prep.

After hearing some of your thoughts.. I think I'll get the beretta and maybe a revolver like a 357 that can also accept 38 spl

Maybe down the line I'll get into 45 and other calibers.

For rifle I'm sticking with .22 and 556 (ar platform)

Shotgun is 12 ga with a mess of different loads.

I have to pay for wedding and stuff so funds will be a bit tight. I think keeping to the one caliber will probably be best for now.

What do you guys thinking the Beretta??

  8. Been a firearms owner for a few years now.

I have 2 handguns in my collection. Glock 19 and Glock 26.

I like the 9mm platform and I have a good deal of ammo stocked up.

My question is....do you guys stick with one or two calibers or get various guns in a bunch of different calibers?

If I stick with 9mm I'd like to get a Beretta 92A1 or Sig 226

If I go different caliber id like a 1911 of some sort.

    What do you guys think?

  9. Hello everyone.

I have a bit of a raccoon problem.

This guy, and a few of his pals, keep frequenting the area around my house. They climb up in the trees and mess around with the garbage cans.

Town won't do anything unless he attacks one of my dogs or something. I don't want it to get to that point.

I know firearms are probably out of the question.

    How about paintball gun? Bow?

What canny use to shoo this guy away?

    Thanks!!!

  10. I had the opportunity to meet this man. People like him are few and far between now a days.

    Here's his MOH citation:

" Rank and organization: Master Sergeant, U.S. Army, Company C, 302d Infantry, 94th Infantry Division

Place and date: Near Tettington, Germany, 23 January 1945

    Entered service at: Bayonne, N.J.

    G.O. No.: 95, 30 October 1945

Citation: M/Sgt. Oresko was a platoon leader with Company C, in an attack against strong enemy positions. Deadly automatic fire from the flanks pinned down his unit. Realizing that a machinegun in a nearby bunker must be eliminated, he swiftly worked ahead alone, braving bullets which struck about him, until close enough to throw a grenade into the German position. He rushed the bunker and, with pointblank rifle fire, killed all the hostile occupants who survived the grenade blast. Another machinegun opened up on him, knocking him down and seriously wounding him in the hip. Refusing to withdraw from the battle, he placed himself at the head of his platoon to continue the assault. As withering machinegun and rifle fire swept the area, he struck out alone in advance of his men to a second bunker. With a grenade, he crippled the dug-in machinegun defending this position and then wiped out the troops manning it with his rifle, completing his second self-imposed, 1-man attack. Although weak from loss of blood, he refused to be evacuated until assured the mission was successfully accomplished. Through quick thinking, indomitable courage, and unswerving devotion to the attack in the face of bitter resistance and while wounded, M /Sgt. Oresko killed 12 Germans, prevented a delay in the assault, and made it possible for Company C to obtain its objective with minimum casualties."

God bless and thanks for your service sir.

13 shot, most critical, including a 3 year old girl.

    CNN is covering Miley Cyrus

Yet these 13 people will be used in statistics by anti gun groups to push more laws that will NEVER prevent s*** like the above or what happened in Washington from happening.

Mental health reform and strict/lengthy jail terms for criminals caught using guns... That's what will work. Not the bull crap feel good junk the million moms or bloomburgs thugs put together.
