Hey Cam, I too have found Youtube to be helpful in videos on how to take down and clean the gun I'm looking at. I went to dicks yesterday to buy some cleaning stuff and check out ammo prices. What gun are you looking at?

Thanks for the replies all!! I've always loved the look of the 92 series Beretta and I am really excited to finally have my own. I took a trip to Dicks today just to see what they had. Picked up a cleaning kit that handles 9mm-45ACP, 12ga shotgun, and .223/5.56 NATO. A pack of patches and some ear protection (doubled up and got some muffs and plugs). I checked out their ammo but unfortunately they were completely out of 9mm ammo with the exception of a few boxes of hornady critical defense. It seems to me that the 92A1 comes with (3) 10 round mags. Thinking of buying a few 15 round mags before the state decides they want to change their minds about mag capacity. So now looking at getting some targets, some other odds and ends for the range bag...and some damn 9mm ammo. Ref. letters should have been turned in today or tomorrow so I am hoping any day now. Thanks for the link dirtydigz! I'll be sure to check that out. Anything else you guys do to help pass the waiting game time???

Afternoon all! I've applied for my FID and a P2P - I think I'm pretty set on getting a Beretta 92A1 as my first handgun. I am only a few days into the waiting process, but from what I understand - my town is usually pretty good about the applications. A buddy of mine applied a few days before I did and I have already gotten his reference letter to fill out. Anyway - what the heck should I do in the mean time?!? I am thinking I probably need to purchase my own Eye and Ear protection along with a cleaning kit. Anything else I should buy? What else should I be looking at before I go out and pick up the gun? I also want to take a basic pistol course - any recommendations for something in the western Monmouth County area? Thanks all, J

Thats great Raz - your rig looks f'ing sick. I like the model that comes with the rail on top and the ghost ring sights...BUT - they are 7+1 so Im assuming that ill need to swap out the plus 2 for a +1 choate extension? Am I right?

How do you like the 92A1? Looking at picking one up as soon as my P2P gets in.

Hey few questions for you guys - In NJ the 930 Spx with a pistol grip would be illegal correct? How's the recoil on it? How much did it send you back?

Hey guys. Looking at the RRA LAR-15 Elite Operator 2. Would be my first rifle (first long gun purchase as well) How would the process work? (Do I order direct from RRA or ask a dealer to order it) How long would it take? Would I pay for the entire thing upfront?

Hey all, Has anyone seen what a sig p226 in 9mm is going for now-a-days? Trying to further my research as I wait for paperwork.. If you happen to be at the range, would you be able to check what one would go for? I am going to check with Shore Shot and Brick Armory later this week Thanks!

Thanks for the advice Maksim! Those are some great points to consider. I've contacted a few friends with XDM, Glock and Sigs to see if they can hit the range over the next couple of weeks while I wait on my paperwork to get back. Any other points of advice you'd give to a new guy just getting started?

I plan on hitting the range over the next few weekends and trying all three. I've shot the Beretta 92 and a Sig 226 at Brick Armory a few times...put a couple hundred rounds through them. The Sig felt much better in my had but a little out of my price range (I'd like to spend some money on ammo, some more training etc) How does the Sig compare to glock or XDM in terms of feel/grip? Hoping to get to the range and try the Glock and XDM

Hi all, Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself. Doing my research to make my first gun purchase within the next 30 days or so, just waiting on the final paperwork. Looking at getting a handgun to start then maybe some long arms down the line. I'm currently looking at the Glock 17 Gen 4, Springfield XDM 9mm and the Beretta 92A1. My uses would primarily be range fun and HD. Any advice or previous experiences would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
