  1. Beautiful gun, congrats! How much did that set you back for the whole thing?

I recently purchased my first hadgun a while back (a new G19 Gen4) and have had my eye on 1911's for a while, however, needed to save up for the 1911 and went for the glock first b/c it was only $600.

I really like the Springfield and have also looked at Kimer, S&W ones - does anyone have a suggestion on a quality, reliable 1911 that's below $900.

It was 899 on the nose with an extra mag i purchased. The mag was 28. The sticker on the gun was 825

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Need to get to the range next week and put some seriours rounds through it and shake it out.

  2. You got a pretty nice case. Mine came in a smaller blue one.

I think it came with the better case cause of the extra mag and the holster and mag pouch but yeah i like the bigger case and can always get a smaller one if i want

  3. Thanks for the info. I was thinking aboput going to the match this weekend at CJRPC and just watch want to join there anyway so i will get to see the facilities gonna call the guy running the match tomorrow and see if that was ok

  4. Congratulations on the new gun, pic's as requested already. Also if you plan on shooting steel and other action matches, get at least another 3 mags at a minimum.

So 3 mags are not enough wowo didnt relize that a stage could use that many so do i need a mag pouch that holds 4 or 5 mags

  5. Hey got my first permit used tiday bought a springfield 1911 A-1 rang officer Model. Ran 50 rounds through it at SS (also where it was purchased). I like it. It also came with a holster 2 Mags and a magzine puch so all set for some idpa or steel matches. I will post pics as soon as I can

  6. I went to Dicks in Freehold a night ago and was interested in an over / under shotgun I spotted so I summoned the samesman over who was already behind the counter. No other customers were there so he was totally free to assist me. Bottom line, he didnt! After several questions about the shotty it became clear that this "dick" was not even going to go touch that shotgun, much less show it to me. In fact he went as far as to answer questions from the hip not even looking at the tag on the shotty, making statements that started off with "I believe or I think" Sure I had my F.I.D. in my wallet but it was evident this guy was not interested in showing me anything. I won't ever go back there (for anything.) either.

That must be the saem gyuy i delt with today. Older guy? I went in this afternnon to buy some 22LR ammo and had forgot my glasses so i wasnt seeing so good. We went to the case and i told the guy i wanted to try a few different kinds to see what shot best. He goes well cci is our best seller i said ok guive me two boxes of that and do you have any match ammo. He says what the hell do you mean match ammo. You know like federal match or the like. Shakes hius head. so i'm getting annoyed just cause hes being an a**. On the way back to the counter I said to him do you have any RUGER 10/22's in stick and he goes what the hell is that. Really you work in a gun department and you don't know what the hell a RUGER 10/22 is probably one of the best selling 22 rifles ever. Just a piss poor attitude to save a few bucks well guesss ill just have to go somewhere else.

  7. Finally today my permits and my firearms id card came in today. The application was put in the monday after thanksgving so i dont think jackson thinks much of that 6-8 week time frame Now Just wish i got more then 2 P2P on the pistol one i think is going twords an MDX comp and the other a .22 like the MKIII ruger. next will have to get more cause i deffinitly would like some kind of 1911

  8. I went iun rentedf the gun paid range fee and then got 2 boxes of 9mm and it weas 96 dollars shot almost both boxs through a so/da sig i liked went back out got 2 more bboxes then tries a ruger full size 9 and the m& p since i stayed in same caliber no upcharge in rental fee but second 2 boxes were 58 and change i kid you not and when renting you have to use their ammo

  9. thanks guys i though I was right that as long as you can get 15 rd maghs or have them pinned then the gun is legal. Oh well you live and learn the worst par tis this was after i went in bought 3 boxes of 9mm and range fee for the day plus rental of gun. cnat wait till i get my FID and can buy a gun instead of rent and go find a real range and buy normal priced ammo 28 dollars a box for 9 mm at SS

  10. Quick question,

I was just down at Shore Shot and asked about renting a 9 MM XDM the big guy behind the counter told me that the 9 XDM is illeagal in nj becaus of the magazine holding more than 15 rounds. I thought that if you got a mag for a gun like this pinned to 15 then the gun was legal can someone let me know what is right. I like the xdm in 45 and wanted to see if i liked in 9 was considering for a future purchase

    Thanks in advance

Mikeythumbs waiting since nov 28th for my jackson FID

  11. Chief siad he would try to have them by the end of the week. Then the investagator wrote back and said one of my references was late in getting back and that i shouod have them by the end of the month so still waiting nov 25th till now hopefully will get them before the CJRPR new member meeting at the end of the moth would really like to join this month and not have to wait till the end of may may is such a great month to be outside. I do know i am going to apply for more pistol permits probably 5 and then get extensions on three of them. This is really just a ridicouls state of affaris six months to get a FID that the form that comes from the state say 6-8 weeks

  12. I called again just now and was told still sitting on Wagner's desk so the lady in trcords put me through to his voice mail where i left a pleasent inquirart as what is taking so long. here is a copy of the letter i sent to the cheif if anyboday can think of anyhting i should add when i write the mayor let me know

I am writing to inform you of a problem I seem to having getting my firearms id card and permit to purchase pistols. I have been a resident of Jackson for a year now and love the area and had wanted to join the Central Jersey Rifle and pistol club (which as you know is located in Jackson). I filled out the application and got my fingerprinting done and returned the completed application the week following Thanksgiving. At this point in time I was told the wait would be 6-8 weeks which I was fine with I understand you have to do the background checks and wait for my references to get back to you.

I am now writing you on the second of April and still no ID I have call records and as far as I know the application has been sitting on Officer Wagner’s desk since at least Feb 14th, I just wanted to follow up with you to see if this is normal to wait this long or if I am missing something from my application or if there is something else wrong. It just seems 4 months is an overly long time to wait when being told it would take 6 to 8 weeks. Almost another 6-8 week period has passed.

If you can let me know if there is anything I can do to help this process or even maybe an approximate date as to when they will be done I would be very grateful

    I can be reached at 732 580 1091

And my home address is 3 Ashford Road

    Jackson NJ 08527

    Respectfully

    Michael J Norris Jr .

P.S. I am also going to CC officer Wagner so he is aware of the problem also

  13. There are a few things that make the difference. Weight of the gun. Action a semi auto asorbs some of the recoil. the stock type can help certain stock types distrubut eht recoil better. The charge in the shell has something to with it too aslug has more more kick than a load of birdshot just as a 2 3/4 has much less kick then 3 1/2. So as you can see there are alot of differetn reasons for a gun to kick more or less mostly to do with newtons laws .

  14. the reason they called it a goose gun was that years ago marlin made a 12 or 10 ga bolt action that they named the goose gun. I have the mossberg model 190 which is the same gun in 16 gauge. I have put lead shot through it never steel though did unscrew the choke tube all the way till it was basiclally cylinder and put a few slugs through it and even in 16 ga it kicks like a sob hope this helps
