  1. Bob's is a great place and much cheaper than Hagues. Great little range and they allow you to shoot anything but shotgun as long as the velocity of the round is less than 1800fps. I asked what rifles can you shoot there and was told anything that was chambered for a pistol round. I have membership there and it includes family right off the bat. My wife and I can shoot together for the same prince as just myself. She also has her own membership card so she can shoot on the membership without me.With a membership you also get 10% off ammo targets. Rentals are $5 less for members as well. Even they guest fee for none memners is only $4/hr. With a new purchase they even give you free hour on the range with free ear and eye rentals. When I bout my 10/22, my wife and I were able to shoot for an hour for free (other than the ammo of course). Everyone there is very nice and they have spent hours with me on separate vists try to pick out a HG knowing I having got my permit yet. Bob is a wonderful man and very humble and down to earth. I highly recommend them as a range and a LGS. The only downside is their parking is very limited and they can get very busy right after they come back from their dinner break.
  2. I just called the local PD. All my paperwork is in, I just have to wait behind all the people in front of me. They are just getting to the permints from January now. I was told that my app is in the Detective Bureau, and I should get a call in 1-2 weeks.
  3. I am actually going on 8 weeks for my P2Ps. I already have a FID.
  4. Thanks guys. I am sorry if this is a repeat of previous posts. Thanks jon for the links.
  5. Collapsible stock and a pistol grip, probably not. Sorry. You know that according to Trenton, that kit will turn your 10/22 into an assault weapon.
  6. On Rugerforum.net the SR1911 have really good reviews from those that have them. The major is with them is availability. Seems Ruger is really behind on SR1911 production.
  7. I am a member at Bob's as well and they have a range of calibers you can rent. They also have offer pistol safety courses you can take. They are not NRA courses, but a good intro and you get to shoot 3 different guns. They are also very helpful and reasonably priced. I have been renting handguns from them to get a handle on what I want to buy. They have a number of 9mm you can rent. Hope this helps.
  8. Well that stinks. They can basically drag there feet and say they were just backed up and they are fine.
  9. I was talking about when you cross back into NJ. I thought you were only allowed to transport your HD from home to the range and back. Would going from home to work (out of state) and then back still be in the exemptions?
  10. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
  11. I am looking at a 357/38 revolver as my wife really has issues with the slides on the semi's and the first HD will be a range/HD purchase. My second will either be a 1911 or a 9mm.
  12. I submitted my P2P permit app on 2/1/12 and I am still waiting. When I called last week I was told they are still working on the requests from Oct/Nov 2011! I am going to call again on Monday and check the status. This time I will ask to talk to the officer doing them.
  13. But aren't you breaking the law concerning transporting handguns in NJ? Only transporting to and from a range? If I go to work in PA and carry when there and then come home to NJ, isn't that illegal? I am really curious about this as I was thinking of getting one myself.
  14. In February I purchased a Ruger 10/22. Waiting in my permits for my next purchase, a handgun. Still trying to pick which one out of all the choices out there, LOL.
  15. This may be a stupid question, but how does a FL CCW help you in NJ. I know PA and DE recognize them, but don't you have to unload the gun, before you come back to NJ?
  16. @Lunker: I am willing to irritate a little, I just don't want to be an a-hole. After all, I live here. I was thinking of calling and asking to speak to the officer in charge and see what the status is and see what I can do to help. If that doesn't work, I was thinking of going to the chief and then on up.
  17. I am new to the forum and to handgun shooting. I have shot rife and shotguns off and on for years. Saw this forum and decided to join to help me stay in touch with NJ firearm issues and events.
  18. If I am correct, according to the statues, the local PD must approve/deny your P2P/FID within 30 days of application. I called the local PD last week and was told they we just getting to Oct/Nov permits. I filed my on 2/1/12. I was looking for advice on how to proceed with prodding the local PD to "speed up" my permits. I already have a FID. I don't want to irritate them, but this whole process takes way to long. I know this is happening to everyone else. Any advice?
