  1. This is a question for anybody that has applied for a handgun purchase permit since December 22, 2022 – the day that Murphy signed the “Carry-Killer” bill into law. Part of that bill raised the price of purchase permits from $2 to $25 – the question is: How many of you have been charged the new $25 price by their police departments? I guess the corollary to that would be how many are still only paying $2? In both instances, please name the police department.

While ANJRPC’s injunctive relief was granted for parts of the bill, as I understand it, fees was not one of them. An informal survey of local PD’s here in my area shows one still only charging $2, others are charging the new fee of $25.

  2. I think it comes out to 50/50 for me between internet sales and in-store. I don't really buy used guns.

I'm not counting using the vendor tool here as an online sales, as that's how I ended up buying my Walther PPQ 9 years ago.

Otherwise I've used Kulak Arms for both transfers and some "in-store" purchases. I use quotes because I'm very specific with my purchases and he's ordered a number for me.

My AR build is kinda a weird one, though. As I bought the lower from Kulak (Aero M4E1) but then, due to my aforementioned specificity, sourced the remaining parts from various internet vendors. So the part that is arbitrarily considered the firearm was obtained locally, but for all intents and purposes it's basically an internet frankenstein gun.

  3. I'm a little late to the party on this one, but this is an absolute tragedy and totally unacceptable behavior on behalf of the shooter, especially if this occurred off the clock.

Mechanical safeties should never be used to compensate for user negligence.

It is a huge pet peeve of mine when people rush either the load or unload portion of a stage. Nobody has ever won a competition or gunfight because of their incredible re-holstering speeds. What I have seen is people DQ'd for unsafe behavior during these unscored sequences, so stop with the grandstanding.

So everyone, for the love of all things holy, treat your guns with the respect they deserve and conspicuously follow the RO's commands.

  4. The Modbutton is momentary only. You can get the Surefire DS00 tailcap to give constant on via the tailcap button, but I don't have experience with it personally.

Unity Tactical, who makes the Modbutton for ModLite, makes what they call the HotButton which may be more up your alley.

  5. Snagged one of these the other day and I'm quite impressed with it. The standard Modbuttons have been total unobtainium since they launched in the middle of the pandemic, so when BigTexOutdoors dropped their exclusive "Lite" version, I snagged it up as I already have a scout mount.

The button activation is tuned nicely, being very tactile and completely silent.

ModLite claims that the switch will deliver full power to modern lights using high output 18650 rechargeable batteries (such as Surefire M600/M640, ModLite OKW/PLHv2, and Arisaka offerings).

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with Surefire tape switches to compare against, but I see no reason to get one with ModLite's current offerings.

As I noted above, this is my first set up with a tape switch, so any suggestions on set up is always appreciated. Pic below of my current layout.

  6. You can send Walther CS an email. I had contacted them when my PPQ trigger return spring failed and they sent me a replacement with a spare (occurred at 12k rounds for those curious).

Taking the PPQ apart is no more difficult than a Glock or any other striker fired gun. You should be able to do it with help from YouTube and a few punches as Stu already said.

  7. Use a different vendor. Adjustable stocks are not illegal on rifles or shotguns. You just have to play the evil features game correctly. It is not any more different than AR grips. There's no reason they can't ship it to you unless there's some other context I'm not aware of.

so how do you get it on or off without sliding it on the extension?

Unless I'm mistaken, all stocks when their lever is pulled to the down most position, will allow the slider pin to clear the inserts and "telescope" rearward until it comes off the extension.

Its all a threat until.. its not. Just don't be the one unlucky bastard i guess.

Depressing the lever allows enough clearance to allow the stock to move between holes, but not enough to remove the stock from the tube. So the stock stop effectively moves that boundary to a single hole.

Stock installation depends on the specific stock, but those I've encountered need to have the pin extended further than the lever allows, usually through the use of a tool.

Sorry, but in this state you do need to over think it.

The only question is, "does the stock telescope"?

Your questions have zero to do with the requirements of the law.

No, it doesn't need a tool. The stock telescopes once the lever is pulled down far enough to get passed the internal block. The function of the stock is unchanged.

In a court room, can someone show the stock moving along the buffer extension? Yes. Whether it locks in place is irrelevant, or the direction being rearward.

By all means, be the test case.

I'm not able to move the stock along the receiver extension with the handful of stocks I've tried. If you have first hand experience otherwise please share.

Everyone loves to threaten the test case but it will literally never happen.

Here is a trick question. Do you need a tool to remove it after it gets installed?

'It' being what? The stock? Yes. It needs a punch or firing pin to remove.

The stock stop removes pretty easily from the tube one the stock is removed.

I don't really get the purpose of the question, though. The stock doesn't adjust with the stock stop installed. End of story. If you remove the stock stop and reinstall the stock, well then that's illegal.

It's like the old joke of the man going to the doctor saying "it hurts when I do this" and the doctor responds "then don't do that".

"Does the stock adjust with this device installed?"

    "No."

"But what if I convert it to be illegal?"

    "Then it's illegal."

If someone wants to point me to a case where someone was prosecuted/convicted for possession of an Assault Weapon because the method by which they attempted to comply was insufficient, then go for it. Otherwise we should stop driving ourselves nuts over these stupid hypotheticals.

TL;DR: Stock stop is fine. Stop overthinking it.

+1 for Richie at Kulak.  @Golf battery @Pizza Bob @SgtToadette and I have all had great experiences there.  They've been there more recently than I have, so they could probably chime in on his stock.

I was there about 2 weeks ago and stock was decent. Had some 92s, 1911s, and a CZ P10C. With this market though you almost need daily updates. Rich is a good guy and will help if you're looking for something specific. Again, it's crazy times so expectations should keep that in mind.
