  1. stopped by-not a lot of stock yet, but very nice guys and it looks promising!
  2. There is some great advice in this thread. To that I would only add that I made a lot of errors in buying my first handgun. I have learned that there is a lot of wisdom in considering the primary use of the gun. Range, home defense, competing? I bought a small Glock 36 in 45acp because I thought it was cool. But it was a lousy range gun. I sold it quickly. I bought a single action Ruger but found that single action made range time boring, and there are not a lot of places for Cowboy Action in NJ. After a lot of missteps, I have settled on a 1911 and love it. Good luck and enjoy.

    1911

I bought my first 1911 a few months ago, and all I can do is share my experience but remember YMMV! I bought a "budget" 1911 (about 500.00) that seemed to look fine. I soon found that I loved the 1911 platform! However-its accuracy was not too good and the quality of some of its parts was lacking. So I bit the bullet (sorry) and traded it in. I ended up with a used Colt government model. The difference between the two is a amazing. The quality and workmanship of the Colt is clear, and the accuracy is so much better. If I had to do it again, and I really wanted the 1911 "experience" I would have begun with one of the more mid level quality brands-Springfield, Colt, Kimber, Smith and Wesson, etc. I probably would still not invest in the Wilson, Ed Brown, etc level-I'm not good enough a shooter to justify. Again, I have read on these forums of people who had great experience with the lesser priced 1911's particularly the Rock islands, but all I can do is share my experience. I hope you love your 1911 as much as I do!
  4. Pizza- further into town, near Chevy dealer They seem very pro 2nd amendment
  5. Took a trip to Dunkelbergers in Brodheadsville, PA. Huge selection, friendly staff, good prices, and gave me more for my trade than many of my LGS at which I'm a long time customer.
  6. I am thinking of bead blasting a stainless gun-do you know of any gunsmiths who do this work? with thanks
  7. I am new to firearm auction sites and I am wondering if my more experienced brothers here have any tips on bidding successfully with thanks
  8. Thank you Mr Colandro. Looking forward to my membership.
  9. Joined Woodland Park today, mostly based on the great comments in this forum. Crazy day to join, because it was jam-packed with people on spring break. I must say that even though it was chaotic, the staff was professional and helpful, and my wait to use the range was not too bad at all. Looking forward to calmer days at the range!
  10. I don't wear spandex anything! (be too horrible to look at)
  11. As it warms up (a bit) in this cursed state, I decided to go out this AM for a bike ride I realized that we need "Four Rules of BIke Safety" just like 'Four rules of Gun Safety" 1. Any car can kill you 2.The car that you don't see, is the one that will kill you 3.The car that kills you will be driven by a 90 pound woman in yoga pants who is talking on her cell phone while driving a 6000 pound vehicle 4.When she hits you (and she will) and you are lying on the sidewalk, bleeding out, she will clutch her I-Phone and scream "O My God-do you have to report this"?
  12. I need to be down in the West Long Branch area next week for business and might have an hour or so to hang out. Any recommendations for gunshops with a decent stock? thanks
  13. Happy new year-hoping to do some business with you in '15!
  14. I'm a fan of Bullethole. Always have a positive experience and I find that the RO's are helpful.

    First 1911?

Para usa does not get a lot of love but I think the Para Expert series is comparable to the Ruger at the very least. I think it is better than the RIA or Tisa.
  17. The Marlin 39d is highly sought after by Marlin collectors. Whatever you paid for it, it is probably worth a lot more. You might want to check out the Marlin Owners Forum. That libtard might have done you quite a favor.
  18. YMCA camp. 11 yrs old. Bolt action 22's loved shooting ever since
  19. I love my Marlin 357 1894. It is a pre-remington
  20. Although I'm partial to the Marlin should point out to the OP that someone has a nice Henry Golden Boy for sale on this forum (not me)...
