  1. No...she wants to shoot and rarely ever comes up by me.
  2. But there is no law against how far you are travelling to a range, correct?? So I can drive down with the HG to the range near her house and have her meet me there?
  3. So crazy!!! Makes no sense to me at all!! Someone can do more damage with a rifle than a HG. HG's are just easier to conceal. So stupid!!
  4. With the fear of having to read the many posts about...use the search function, read the sticky, etc....I'm going to post this anyway. If I am reading everything on here correctly....is it illegal for me to take my rifle and handgun to my mother-in-law's house, which I will be staying at for the weekend, and taking both guns to a range local to her? I know the rifle is not a problem, but what I am reading, it looks like I am not allowed to take the handgun to her house at all??
  5. Sorry guys for apparently bringing up a topic that has already been covered....maybe I just don't know how to use the search correctly. Every time I put something in the search it says no results. Anyway...thanks for all the advice and I agree with everyone saying it's better for her to use it then be harmed. Is there any good places to find the rules on home defense that I can give to her?
  6. I have a handgun and it is all legal and registered to me at my address. My girlfriend has nothing not even an FID. If she is home alone and someone breaks into our home, can she use it to protect herself without fear of going to jail?
  7. This is a very clever video that was made....Bravo!
  8. OH NO.....NOT prison for a stupid .22...UGH. It's all done....it is now NJ legal. Holds a max of 15 rounds....not 16....15.
  9. Hey everyone...the name's Steve, I'm from Pine Brook & East Hanover. Found the site through Google and as soon as I came across it, I looked around for about 10 minutes before signing up. This group seems to have a lot of understanding and technical background when it comes to firearms, hence why I signed up. I was always into firearms, but never bothered to get my FID until my uncle wanted to turn in his 2 guns to the police station since he was going to be moving and no longer wanted them....so I said...no...wait The rest is downhill from there. He gave me a 1974 Walther PPK/S and 1973 Glenfield Model 60. I'm looking forward to this hobby and getting to know everyone here!
  10. NJ sucks!! If it can be proven that it is an heirloom, it should be deemed so. What is the reason for the ban?? Is it just because they are high powered?
  11. I have been scanning through the never ending info on the sticky....but I either skipped over it/haven't found it or it's not there. I'm going to go with I skipped over it as there's no way I can possibly read all of that word for word lol. If someone has possession of an M1 Carbine who received it as inheritance from their father as it was his rifle in WWII...is there a way to get a license or permit to own it legally in NJ?
  12. I saw that thanks.....but it was conflicting with what I had been told by someone, so I decided to post the question.
  13. Yes we both live in NJ. I had someone tell me that he wouldn't bother with the P2P since NJ is a registration optional state??
  14. I searched and searched, but couldn't find the answer. My uncle is moving and doesn't want his handgun any more. He wants to just give it to me. It's a '74 Walther PPK/S. Since he is just going to give it to me, do I still need to get a P2P? Does this have to go through an FFL? Thanks in advance!!
  15. There was another thread somewhere talking about something similar with mags. If I remember correctly, it was said that if a mag is for a certain caliber and only holds the 15, but can hold more than that of a smaller caliber, then it is just coincidence and to label that mag for the larger caliber only and you'd be fine. So in my case, if the gun is stamped by the manufacturer for 22lr only and I modify it to accept only 15 of 22lr then I should be fine....
  16. Thanks!! I was aware of that already. I cleaned it all out a bit and it seems to chamber the round fine when the bolt closes quickly, but if I hold and guide the bolt closed, the round twists and gets stuck. Since I've never cleaned a gun before, and this thing is in need of some serious cleaning....I'm going to meet up with a friend who can show me the proper way to disassemble and clean this thing....hopefully that helps.
  17. Now I just need to wait for my P2P, so I can get my uncle's PPK/S.
  18. Just got some ammo...I need to score the inner tube and take off 3 inches.... I also need to find out why the round isn't loading correctly. The round loads but the charging handle won't close. It seems like the round isn't loading into the chamber correctly or straight.
  19. Montville Township...6 weeks to the day and had FID in hand.
  20. Just checked the barrel....stamped on the barrel states .22 LR Only
  21. Everything I am finding states 22 LR only...wish I could find a manual, but not having any luck. I called Marlin and the only thing they could tell me was year of manufacture, which is actually '73, not '74 as first thought.
  22. Better yet....just got a phone call back. She typed it up and was able to catch the chief....So I'm getting it in about 30 minutes!! WOOT WOOT!!
