  1. At least there is a list.. and it's not one of those "You have to pass it to see what's in it"..
  2. Typical meeting between politicians and constituents: I got the same email from him.. and I thought I was special
  3. I overheard the TV here at work.. not sure what channel.. but they mentioned unsubstantiated reports that it may be gang-related. Take with an iceberg-sized grain of salt.
  4. Fear folks with guns.. especially those with the skill to network them together and create an all-powerful AI.
  5. Find / -name vi -rm -exec link -s /bin/nano {} ; And I prefer my revolutions measured in BAMs. And ford > Chevy. And this thread is officially hijacked.
  6. Saying that VI is esoteric and complicated compared to emacs? Wow. %s%x instead of :qs and god have mercy on your soul if your terminal settings are wrong in either case.
  7. In other news, NY AWB updated to include bubleguns and "detergent airators" added to the scary features list.
  8. I'm multi caliber^weditor: VI for quick edits, Emacs for code, and bash, grep, and awk for real work..
  9. *shrug*.. I think he can disagree with the NRA over the commercial and still agree with them over (some of) the actual issues. It's not a black and white relationship. I'll say I think it's okay if Christie comments on the video.. his kids have protection, after all. and it's certainly less hypocritical then the President.. Slamming the NRA over kids in a commercial while being surrounded by them in a press conference.
  10. I think the exemption basically fosters the 'us vs them' mentality. Personally I think LEO and former LEO should be exempt.. but so should everyone else as the entire bill is ridiculous. Without the exemption I'm sure LEO's would be almost universally against the bill and therefor you would see consistent pressure from their organizations and unions against the bill. What the exemption does is reduces the likelihood that there will be coordinated backlash from from LEO side of things and 'we' use them as a powerful ally against the bill. Yes, individual LEO may still be in opposition to the bill.. but I don't think the bigger organizations/unions would be as willing to jump in on our side without their folks being directly impacted.
  11. How is that different from cars? I'd call them high-dollar as well and my TV is plastered with car dealer ads.
  12. Emacs has a keystroke that would insert keywords into the bottom of email messages... of course, that was before most email was web-based or mobile and folks still had dedicated email readers. Still, the same concept could apply to social media and would be relatively easy to write a chrome/mozilla plugin for.
  13. "Sir, We need to see your magazine. I believe you've loaded more than sev.." <BANG> <BANG> <BANG> ".. Here's my magazine officer, as you can see, no more than seven"
  14. I think he was assuming that this bill passes while the AWB 2.0 does not.
  15. My concern is that someone will add a rider that says that the way they'll fund the $2k credit is to add a tax to the sale of firearms and ammo.
  16. But don't you dare mention MY kids.. BAD NRA.. BAD!
  17. What's the difference between price gouging and supply and demand? Just what side of the transaction you sit.
  18. I wasn't able to watch the press conference and only skimmed the play by play above but did Obama mention the laws passed by NY?
  19. Unless there is also a "Must Report stolen guns" law as in NY then... The same as would happen now..
