45 Colt isn't typically loaded as hot as maintenance guy's figures. Commercial loads are usually 850-1,000 fps. Some 45 Colt +p rounds will get close to 44 magnum ranges. 44 magnum will be 50+% faster, in the 1,500 fps range. 454 Casull loads start around 1550 fps and go up from there.

In with Mark Anthony on this. Guns are for shooting. Especially the really good ones. Just like you wouldn't buy a $3,000 custom 1911 and not shoot it. The whole point of a great gun is in putting rounds down range with it. That said, if you're looking for a nice revolver to put through the paces, get a GP. Yeah, I'm going to talk to him on Monday and figure out what works best. Rick's a great guy and I'm sure he'll do what he can to make it go smoothly. Sucks that he's closing up.

This is a unique scenario. I've had two guns at OMG waiting on permits. Permits are in, but he's closing up shop in less than 30 days. Which means my options are get a multiple handgun exemption, fast. Or sell one. I'd rather go the exemption route, but even with a fast turn-around it's going to be close, so I'm weighing my options.
