  1. Lol. I don't think anyone was carrying an unloaded long-gun to fend off carjackers.
  2. You guys could always just not read those posts. Just saying...
  3. I took my shotgun (cased and unloaded) everywhere we went.
  4. Heads up for you Middlesexers http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2012/11/boil_water_advisory_issued_in.html The Middlesex Water Company has issued a boil water advisory in Carteret, Edison, Highland Park, Metuchen, South Amboy, South Plainfield and Woodbridge because of a power failure at its New Brunswick intake stations. The company said it is working to restore power, possibly by early Tuesday morning. The following is from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection: "The (DEP) has determined that a potential or actual threat to the quality of water being provided to you currently exists. Therefore until further notice, bring tap water to a rolling boil for one minute and allow to cool before using for consumption; drinking, ice cubes, washing vegetables and fruit, and for brushing teeth. Please continue to boil your water until you are notified that the water quality is acceptable. We also recommend the following steps as of the time of this advisory: • Throw away uncooked food or beverages or ice cubes if made with tap water made after the time of the issuance of this advisory; • Keep boiled water in the refrigerator for drinking; • Rinse hand-washed dishes for a minute in diluted bleach (one tablespoon of household bleach per gallon of tap water) or clean your dishes in a dishwasher using the hot wash cycle and dry cycle. • Do not swallow water while you are showering or bathing; • Provide pets with boiled water after cooling; • Do not use home filtering devices in place of boiling or using bottled water; most home water filters will not provide adequate protection from microorganisms; • Use only boiled water to treat minor injuries. Individuals with severely compromised immune systems, infants, or the elderly may be at increased risk and should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers. General guidelines on ways to lessen the risk of infection by microbes are available from EPA’s Safe Drinking Water Hotline at (800) 426-4791. Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly, for example people in apartments, nursing homes schools and businesses. You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail. Please note a boil water advisory is a standard procedure whenever a treatment failure occurs which may compromise the quality of your drinking water." The Middlesex Water Company said it will inform residents when the advisory is lifted. Updates can be found at at www.middlesexwater.com and through the company's Facebook and Twitter site. You can also call the company at (732) 634-1500.
  5. Sounds great. Count me in. I'll bring my 20 Ga, a hand thrower and a couple of boxes of birdshot
  6. Ironically, their spokesman is the same Fernando Mateo who organized the first toys for guns program in NY
  7. Actually it's the opposite. I go through a mag everyday and more than once the sheriff's officers had to hold onto something that wasn't allowed in the building (knife, cuff key) because i forgot to leave it in the car. She probably leaves her edc in her vehicle and just forgot that day.

    Gun Prices

Next to shooting, the largest portion of my disposable income goes to cigars. Same problem for that industry: the local shops can't compete with online retailers on price. They make up for it though by having hard to get items/exclusives and by being knowledgeable, FRIENDLY, and offering what online dealers can't- a sense of community. Many LGSs seem to have taken the opposite approach. You're not gonna win anyone over like that.

  10. Applied today for address change and a P2P in Edison.
  11. I was wondering about this as well.i live in condo development (rent not own) and would like to be able to clean my guns on the back deck (wife hates hoppes smell). While legal, i can definitely see some neighbor freaking out and calling the fuzz.
  12. I have my Hunters Ed cert, so i could use that and just apply directly to Florida. That's why i was curious about getting my prints done on my own. Though, i might just take the GAPP Utah/Florida combined class ($150 for both!)
  13. Any recommendation on prints? Does it have to be from a LE agency?
  14. jrfly3006's comment was probably directed to me. I'd like to see the judge that thinks a DP complaint about class c fireworks trumps the 4th amendment.
  15. Re: entering your property- Police cannot enter your property in absence of a warrant, consent or exigent circumstances. Exigent circumstances means: someone is in danger, 'hot pursuit' or the likelihood that evidence of a crime will be lost/destroyed while waiting for a warrant. Not Roman candles... There may have been a plain sight argument here, but the op stated that the only way the officers could see was to be in his shrubs. Even then, there was no reason to go on his property unannounced. That's way over-stepping. If an arrest was made or citation issued, even a first year lawyer could've gotten it tossed. If the dog got shot, that's some serious liability for the dept.
  16. The only time i can see complaining about membership costs is when there's a big "one-time" fee on top of a high membership or a lot of work hours expected. Otherwise, it's either worth it or it isn't, depending on how often you shoot. $400 = about 26 hours or twice a month, at the bullethole. If you shoot less than that, you don't need a range membership. If you shoot more, the membership pays for itself.
  17. Related question: I'm thinking about joining, what's the law like in PA for transporting from NJ?
