  1. Hi all, I was hoping there were some IT guys on the board (or at least someone with a much better understanding of networking than myself) that could point me in the right direction for adding a Wi-Fi access to my wired home network so that we can connect to it via our smart phones or maybe even a laptop. My wired network is set up like this: Cable modem .........|| .........V 4 port router (3 open ports) .........|| .........V 8 port network switch (2 open ports) (connected to 4 computers and 1 networked printer) Would I need to purchase a wireless router (use as a bridge?) and connect it to one of the network switch ports? Or could I connect it to one of the other router ports? Or should I use something else? To say that I'm confused would be an understatement, LOL. Needless to say I still would like to maintain a secure network. Thanks for any assistance/advice you can offer.
  2. Reading this, after reading the article linked from another thread http://njgunforums.c...-i-havent-seen/, just pi$$es me off even more. WTF is wrong with these jackasses????
  3. Thanks for posting that link. Very good reading and informative. It's refreshing to see someone articulate, so well, the facts and fallacies regarding the impacts and perceptions of a weapons/magazine ban. Maybe all of the anti gun folk should read this article so as to get an informed opinion on the subject and not be led by fear mongering/misleading politicians and media. I have to add, that quote from the Washington post article of 1994 was very disturbing to say the least. WTF!
  4. Just when you think things cant get any worse, some a$$wipe goes and does something like this. I mean, really, was it necessary to locate all of these people with handgun permits on a map and post it? I suppose there is no such thing as morality in journalism anymore. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should do it. WTF!!!! I would be furious, for no other reason, because it would make me a potential high priority target for theft while no one was at home. I did get a good laugh at the response to it though; when their personal info was posted.LOL Whats good for the goose, is good for the gander. But unfortunately what attention these reporters, editors, etc. receive will only be short lived compared with the people located by map points. Sadly they will have to sweat this out for quite a while, Im afraid.
  5. Merry Christmas everyone! Have a safe holiday.
  6. There were two in my area a couple of weeks ago; a blue one in one local gun shop and a black one in another local sports store.
  7. I'm a fan of Kbar Tanto blade knives. I have one in both sizes and can be had with partially serrated or smooth blade. Amazon prices are much better than on Kbar website.
  8. For me it will be roast prime rib, potatoes au gratin, green bean cassarole, biscuits, and chocolate cake.....chased with diet pepsi.
  9. Hmmmm, the funny thing about that article are the liberal responses to it. None of them believe Boenher will allow a bill like that to pass. He, as a politician, is doing what he(they) do best......side step the direct question using ambiguous wording that is open to interpretation. He's pro 2A and until a bill is actually put before them I wouldn't worry about it until then. In the mean time we need to write to our congressmen letting them know how we feel so that when it comes crunch time they will know how "we the people" feel about this.
  10. I would definitely not be happy with that. WTF! What brand is that stock wrench? Shouldn't be able to sheer nubs off of a wrench like that. Please post the brand name of that wrench so we can avoid purchasing that garbage. Thanks.
  11. $300 is high for a new one, let alone one that is used. Dicks did/does have a special on them. And yes, they are a decent rifle and easy to work on with tons of aftermarket add ons/upgrades available. Is it a standard carbine model that you were looking at? There are several "distributor exclusive" models, and the Take down model that generally retail at higher amounts. However if it is a standard carbine you should be able to get it new at around $260-$270 any day of the week but if its an exclusive or takedown model it could fetch a bit more. Then there is always the possibility with the Christmas rush and everything else going on in the gun world these days that the local shop is trying to price gouge a bit.
  12. Nice time to sell, get better price for it and buy an upgrade when things settle down, or at least thats what I was considering. Of course it is a gamble as to how things will be when it finally settles (for or against us). I gave a fleeting thought about selling my AR but I don't want to risk it....."bird in the hand worth 2 in the bush" type thing. Though, to see what people are bidding on these guns now is a sight to be seen. Check out Bud's gun shop......it's nuts.
  13. You guys all make very good points. I will therefore redirect my AWB stress into consuming large quantities of food (as if I needed help with that) LOL.
  14. Very Nice! Betcha that puppy is worth about 20% more now in light of recent events.
  15. Yup, from the inside out, as prophesized. Gov't violating constitutional rights by banning guns, increasing authority to BATF, DEP, and IRS. The United States of America...... home of the free? Someone wake me up, I must be dreaming (nightmare).
  16. Ha ha, I didn't crap my pants, but it definitely spiked my blood pressure until I read his entire post. Ahhhh, OP got me with that heading, for sure. I didn't think it was funny at first, but when my bp settled I was able to find it funny, especially when reading about the chain of people the information had passed from.
  17. Holy Toledo! I had been going to A-n-A's website several times a week over the past couple of months pondering a Daniel Defense AR purchase for after the holidays. He had a pretty large selection of them along with several other brands and had been like that for some time. Just checked tonight and every last one of them are gone....POOF, just like that. As for ammo, I'm glad I had gotten a fair amount at the end of the summer into the fall for about 6.50 a box for PMC. Prices are absolutely nuts for .223 now. Scary times indeed. Yes, if you can find one, get it ASAP.
  18. If you aren't able to find one (I couldn't either) you should follow raz-0's advice. Very easy to switch to bull barrel on these guns, but keep in mind that you will also have to get a different stock to accommodate the thickness of a bull barrel (or modify factory stock). I ended up getting a green mountain heavy target barrel and archangel stock and couldn't be happier with it. BTW, the scope rail comes with the 10/22 (along with the screws) but it isn't installed on the gun at the factory like the tactical model does.
  19. Herein lies part of the problem. We, as pro gun advocates, cant even agree among ourselves as to what would constitute reasonable alternatives to an outright ban. This is where the anti's have us cold. They are ALL behind an outright ban on so called "assault" weapons.......quick and clean with one fell swoop. I'm seriously hoping the pro gun politicians will have the stomach to stand up against the anti's considering the heinous nature of the incident that got this proverbial ball rolling.
  20. Over $12 a box for PMC 55 gr .223 ammo????? Damn I should've bought a lot more at $6.50 when I had the chance. Talk about an investment.
  21. Just when I thought that I had enough 22LR's in the houshold, someone has to go and post a pic of the STG44. Damn, thats nice.
  22. I fear the anti's got us by the short hairs this time. They are going to ride the coat tails of this tragic incident right into another weapons ban. This is all about getting their anti gun agenda passed and if it can't be done this time, it never will be. For them it's pretty much now or never as the timing couldn't be better for them. Its bad enough that some twisted f*ck gets his name emblazoned into the annuls of history for the evil despicable acts that he had committed and the families that he destroyed. But then to top it off, the politicians with their typical knee jerk response to punish millions of law abiding citizens by passing some despotic legislation that would not have prevented this tragedy in the first place. The vast majority of these mass murderers are suicidal and kill themselves in the end. Are politicians really that stupid to believe that if no guns were available that these same individuals wouldn't have used another means to achieve their ultimate goal? No they aren't, but they will convince a large portion of the public to believe it by using their emotions to sway their thought process.......with the mass media's help of course. Batten down the hatches, the storm is fast approaching and its going to be a big one.
  23. Just when I think that I have reached my limit of contempt for my fellow man, some jackass has to go and raise the bar. I still can't believe that someone would/could kill a whole classroom of children; mental defective or not. I cannot begin to imagine what the parents and families of the victims must be feeling right now. I've said it before. I truly believe that the media and press are partly culpable by sensationalizing these tragedies which basically gives every wack job out there inspiration to have their 15 minutes of fame. Recently, it seems like each one was trying to "out do" the previous. I fully agree. Scary part about this is that when children's welfare are a driving force behind legislation, it is generally passed. Problem is, as several posters have mentioned, this is a knee jerk reaction to a larger problem and will solve nothing but trample on the rights of law abiding citizens. Case in point: this jackass was mentally defective and gained access to legally owned weapons that were not his own. How do you stop that?
