  1. I'm picking up some signatures to run in district 31 in south Jersey City. As of yet I do not have a running mate. Though I did here that there was some other pro 2A people running in this same district from Bayonne, but no one I spoke too remembered their names. If anyone knows them can they give me a PM?
  2. I suppose I could agree that it is strange to give that as justification but given that it is NJ, I suppose they just wanted their customers to just err on the side caution to avoid as many nonsense charges as possible. And regarding that incident, The original attacker had used a brick to beat down the person. The other group defending him use pure physical force. The original responding officers refused to identify the group that defended the beaten down man because they thought it was absurd that a prosecutor would seek to charge people that saved someone from potentially getting beaten to death.
  3. I would imagine the problems will come later on down the line after the police already responded. For some reason the officer might want to examine the bullets of the gun. Or Mostly may stem from when the prosecutor's office gets involved. I've seen first hand on an incident where someone was attacked, and another group of people saw the incident and beat down the attacker to defend the other person. When a prosecutor got to the scene he wanted to know who stopped the original attack and charge them with assault as well.
  4. I actually asked a similar question to a Gun Shop. It was explained to me that it was legal, however simply the word hollow-point going off on the police radios may bring a negative response because of the stigma behind them in NJ. I was also recommended to use Federal Guard Dog as well.
  5. I'll definitely be going. We need to oppose as much of this lunacy as possible.
  6. Thank you very much for the info, If I can't get my boss to forward the letter back then. From what I recall of actually seeing the employee verification letter, it blatantly says firearms department on it and it contains a questionnaire. I see if they can just get the letter sent back.
  7. i suppose I could just give licensing a call and ask of something can be worked out. I had a similar problem with my last job when applying for my FPID card was that they "never got" the application. Which I actually found laying around in my boss's office collecting dust who I had to take to someone else in the management to fill out. If anything I thinks the whole needing to send a letter to verify employment is a load of bull when a simple phone call to the HR department or Manager of a company could work. Also, I don't think its anyone's business that I am an owner of firearms to begin with.
  8. I've been waiting several months now for me to get new PPPs from Jersey City. My employer was sent a letter to verify my employment which they did get, however my boss doesn't want to return the letter as he would like have me on for sometime before he sends the letter back out. With my application hanging in limbo, would there be any complication with reapplying and listing myself as self-employed?
  9. From one new guy to another, welcome.
  10. Thank you very much for your warm welcome and I appreacate the feed back. I'm glad to be apart of the community.
  11. Hello, I am a new gun owner from Jersey City after having to wait forever to get my NJ FID. Though the wait was mostly due to paperwork that the city required that my job and one of my references was holding up on sending back to them. Though the staff at the licencing department were good with communicating questions that I had and keeping me up to date with progress on my application. I am currently looking to start a career in armed security after having 6 years of unarmed security services and was looking on where I should begin to go about it. I have been looking at some companies but most require those with law enforcement experience. In reguards to training. I was wondering if I should go along with Taking an armed security course of if was a security company that would provide such training on the job. And if I was to take a Training course I am split between getting from gun for hire or from NJ Firearms academy. Though I was leaning more for the Firearms academy because of its proximity and my reliance of public transit from not owning a car. I'm glad to join the forum.
