  1. Once you are turned down you then have to keep answering the question whether you have been ever turned down (which is asked by most states).
  2. It doesn't need a lawful purpose as NJ explicitly allows one to carry it for self defense. 2C:39-6(i)
  3. The original MA case that SCOTUS ruled on was not about carry. MA made a ridiculous claim that only weapons there existed at the time the 2nd amendment existed were legal. This allowed SCOTUS to strike it down. The NJ AG consent decree didn't talk about carry. They very carefully only changed their ruling about stun guns regarding specific sections of NJ law and these did not deal with carry. If someone with cash (for lawyers not the stun gun) purchases one they can then sue the state for infringement of their 2A rights. I am guessing the NJ2AS wanted the win rather than to continue the fight.
  4. In the home I would assume one would choose a firearm. What about keeping one in the car ? Is that considered carrying being it is not in your home and don't have another lawful purpose for it ? I doubt a car is allowed unless you meet the other criteria such as going to have it repaired, purchasing it, etc.
  5. Yeah a pistol, shotgun, or rifle is better than a stun gun at home although it still might be useful for someone that doesn't want a firearm at home.
  6. I stand corrected. NJ doesn't allow carrying a weapon for self defense so that would apply to knives and Stun guns without another lawful purpose. I have a feeling we are out of luck as far as carry goes. In the home they will be fine until NJ requires a P2P to purchase them. Ugh
  7. I just checked and Amazon, Cabela's, and MidwayUSA will not yet ship to NJ. It may take some time for everyone to get up to speed. I guess I can pick one up the next time I go to a gun show in PA.
  8. Where is everyone seeing that you can't carry? It seems like it is legal to possess just like a knife as long as you are not committing a crime with it.The only restrictions I can see are in schools, under 18, and prohibited persons.
  9. In the application for a DC concealed carry license there is the following section and question: https://mpdc.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/mpdc/page_content/attachments/ConcealedCarryLicense_GoodReasonApplication_fillableform.pdf Firearms Training Background 4. Are you requesting an exemption from the firearms training course requirements in either Question 1 or 2 above? In the instructions for filling out the form they provide examples that meet the training requirement (this document is a few years old): Instructions for Submitting an Application for a Concealed Carry Pistol License https://mpdc.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/mpdc/page_content/attachments/ConcealedCarryLicenseApplicationInstructions102214_FINAL.pdf 3. In the Firearms Training Background section of the application: If you are requesting an exemption to the firearms training course requirements, Section 2336.3 of the regulations requires you to provide supporting documentation, such as: - Firearms training provided by the National Rifle Association - DD Form 214 if it shows special training for marksmanship - Retired law enforcement officer credentials - Hunting license - Armed special police officer license So with all of the demonizing of the NRA they (as other states also do) use the NRA training to meet their training requirements. What do the anti-2a groups say about this??
  10. So his son doesn't want the home. You think its too late for me to be adopted?
  11. I had a slightly different (but good) experience flying Newark to Dallas and back a couple of weeks ago. The guy came out (I think from American but not sure) of the TSA room and asked me for the combinations for the gun case lock. I questioned this and he said how else were they going to open the cases. I complied, he went back in the TSA room, but a minute later a uniformed TSA employee asked me to come in the room. I went over to the TSA person who had already opened my bag. He asked me to open the combination locks on the Pelican case which I did. He inspected the firearm and took a look at the box of ammo which was also in the case. He then asked me if I wanted to pack the foam material back in the way I had it which I did. I locked the gun case and he then locked my luggage. They were very professional and polite. I had left a piece of clear tape on the gun case so when the counter clerk gave me the declaration form I could stick it to the case. My understanding is if they open the luggage and don't see the declaration it can cause problems. Since then I have attached a clear adhesive mailing sleeve to the side of the case in which i can slide the declaration form (I found this trick on a website). When I arrived at Dallas my bag came out very quickly and I picked it up and left (I didn't have to do anything special at all). It was a bit easier on the return trip as TSA never called me in to see the firearm at Dallas. At Newark it also just came directly to the carousel. The entire experience was much easier than I had thought it would be. The one thing to watch out for is if your flight gets redirected to a place that is not gun friendly (like NYC). Under no circumstance should you take possession of the bag on the carousel. Have the airline transfer it to whatever flight you are taking back home. You can get jammed up if you take possession of the firearm like the guy that was flying into Allentown PA (I believe) and was redirected to Newark where he then tried to take ground transportation back to PA with his firearm.
  12. Sorry for the delay in replying I have been away for a couple of days. The way I understand it, you have to apply for the ccw and request an exemption. It is then up to the chief to determine if your training is sufficient. https://mpdc.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/mpdc/page_content/attachments/DC Regulations for Licenses for Concealed Pistols_through August 25 2017.pdf "2336.3 The Chief may, on a case by case basis, exempt a person from the requirements of §§ 2336.1 and 2336.2 if the person submits evidence that he or she has received firearms training in the U.S. military or has otherwise completed firearms training conducted by a firearms instructor that, as determined by the Chief, is equal to or greater than that required by the Act." I will be down in DC in a couple of weeks and will be submitting my application. I will find out if they accept my NRA instructor training as meeting their requirements (I have a variety of certifications including personal protection inside the home and personal protection outside the home). I found this DC training company at: http://discovershootingnow.com/dc-concealed-carry-classes/ Except for the legal class they say that DC may exempt you if you have substantial training (2 days in non-basic training) or if you are a firearms instructor.
  13. I agree that nothing is certain with SCOTUS and at times things move at a snails pace. I also don't listen to pollsters. So if Trump wins another term and then is followed by Pence we could see multiple appointments. Only time will tell.
  14. So did DC and Illinois but they are now both shall issue. You gotta believe!
  15. Except for the DC legal class the other firearm training can be exempted. For example: military experience or for an instructor).
  16. Some of the training requirements can be waived (except for the training on DC laws): https://mpdc.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/mpdc/page_content/attachments/DC Regulations for Licenses for Concealed Pistols_through August 25 2017.pdf 24-2345. Non-Resident Applications for Concealed Carry License 2345.1 A non-resident of the District, as defined by the Act, may apply to the Firearms Registration Section for a concealed carry license upon a showing that the applicant meets all of the eligibility requirements of § 2332 2345.2 A non-resident may satisfy some or all of the firearms training requirements in § 2336 by providing proof of completion of a firearms training course in another state or subdivision of the United States. 2345.3 A non-resident shall obtain a certification from a firearms trainer that the applicant has received and completed training in District firearms law and the District law of self-defense.
  17. Question #20 on the application states: https://mpdc.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/mpdc/page_content/attachments/Concealed Carry License Application_fillableform 101117.pdf Do you have a bona fide residence or place of business in the United States and are licensed to carry a concealed pistol by another State? The instructions for the application states: https://mpdc.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/mpdc/page_content/attachments/Concealed Carry License Application Instructions_10 05 17.pdf If you answered “Yes” to Question 20, then you must provide the same types of documentation as required for Questions 18 or 19 and proof of concealed carry permit/license issued by another state Questions 18 and 19 are for residence or business owners in DC and the documentation required include official documents that have your address such as voter ID card, tax bills, etc.
  18. The Metropolitan Police Department has updated their website to be in compliance with the latest appeals court decision: https://mpdc.dc.gov/node/929382 "Pursuant to the decision of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, Wrenn v. District of Columbia and Grace v. District of Columbia, applicants for a license to carry a concealed handgun in the District of Columbia no longer need to provide a good reason for carrying a handgun." So another state goes shall issue!!! I will be making a trip to DC soon.
  19. So it looks like the NRA is now on board at considering banning the Bump Stock along with a list of Republicans. https://home.nra.org/joint-statement/ (FAIRFAX, VA) - The National Rifle Association today issued the following statement: "In the aftermath of the evil and senseless attack in Las Vegas, the American people are looking for answers as to how future tragedies can be prevented. Unfortunately, the first response from some politicians has been to call for more gun control. Banning guns from law-abiding Americans based on the criminal act of a madman will do nothing to prevent future attacks. This is a fact that has been proven time and again in countries across the world. In Las Vegas, reports indicate that certain devices were used to modify the firearms involved. Despite the fact that the Obama administration approved the sale of bump fire stocks on at least two occasions, the National Rifle Association is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law. The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations. In an increasingly dangerous world, the NRA remains focused on our mission: strengthening Americans' Second Amendment freedom to defend themselves, their families and their communities. To that end, on behalf of our five million members across the country, we urge Congress to pass National Right-to-Carry reciprocity, which will allow law-abiding Americans to defend themselves and their families from acts of violence."
  20. How about making the bump stock illegal as part of the SHARE Act.
  21. Maybe.... The Polls — All Of Them — Show Hillary Clinton Leading Which means Donald Trump is losing. Oct 27, 2016 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/hillary-clinton-leading-polls_us_58112308e4b064e1b4b05ce5 "An AP-GFK poll shows Clinton leading by an astonishing 14 points, 51 percent to Trump’s 37 percent, in a four-way race. In a two-way heat, Clinton’s lead narrows to 13 points."
