  1. I received a notice from Getty Images today that France has passed a law that as of October 1 any photographs that have been retouched to make the model either thinner or heavier must be noted on the use of the photograph. As a result Getty will no long accept photographs that have been retouched in this way.. The heavy hand of government. We can retouch everything else though (like noses, blemishes, etc). Ironically the new law also requires the models to get medical exams to verify that they do not have too low a BMI. So one can't retouch the models to make them look slimmer (the healthier option) but the models also cannot be too slim.
  2. Daniel Schmutter a 2a lawyer that spoke at NJSAFECON yesterday https://njsafecon.net/featured-speaker-daniel-schmutter-esq/ said that these cases are all going in the right direction and its up to the right case to come along.
  3. One thing to keep in mind as pointed out by DSG Bloom is that if you are denied the permit then forever after you have to answer YES on the application for a FPID/P2P for the question: (27) Have you ever had a firearms purchaser identification card, permit to purchase a handgun, permit to carry a handgun or any other firearms license or application refused or revoked in New Jersey or any other state? If yes, explain Failure to answer YES can bar you in the future. Currently this is how the scheme works but who knows what Loretta and Murphy come up with in the future.
  4. There are two gubernatorial races this year in NJ and Virginia. The NRA has made a commitment to fight in NJ. This includes hiring staff for the NJ race. Christian Ragosta the NRA grass roots field coordinator and Darin Goens the NRA lobbyist for our area were there. NJ is still NJ but the NRA behind the scenes has made some great progress in NJ but only with our support. Keep on sending those emails as they do have good consequences. The NRA-ILA makes sending those emails as easy as clicking a button. There are no excuses for not doing this. All of this does take money. The NRA will not be able to turn NJ pro-gun. But Murphy will surely sign lots of anti-gun legislation. Now is the time for everyone to get more involved.
  5. If anyone attended NJSAFECON yesterday they would have heard a "lively" discussion with Scott Bach explaining the NRA position. It is rarely what it appears to be on the surface.
  6. fwiw: I flew out of and back to Newark last week with a pistol and ammo and had zero problems. Much easier than I thought it would be. The airlines and TSA were completely professional. The one big caveat is that if the flight gets diverted to an anti-state do not take possession of your baggage even for a second (leave it on the carousel). Have the airline transfer it for you. I only had 10 round magazines so I don't think that would be an issue anywhere. Shipping is probably the safest bet. I would not drive through a state that has 10 round limits with a 15 round magazine (or an "assault weapon" in that state).
  7. As expected it was an excellent conference. Very lively discussions. The attorney presentations were great (Daniel Schmutter could have passionately talked for hours - and was fascinating). Anthony was even well behaved. The diversity panel was very interesting (I have to buy a Black Guns Matter orange sweatshirt like Maj was wearing). NJSP FIrearm Unit DSG Bloom (and NRA Life Member) was back to answer questions. And as Scott mentioned those NRA-ILA emails we send do have a large impact so everyone should be doing it. And of course Loretta got her boos and hisses at the mere mention of her name! Next year we need more people to turn out for this event! Come on guys and gals, it is just one day per year. A big thanks to John for putting on the event (and you did great speaking to the group).
  8. 2015 New Jersey Revised Statutes Title 2C - THE NEW JERSEY CODE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE Section 2C:39-6 - Exemptions. http://law.justia.com/codes/new-jersey/2015/title-2c/section-2c-39-6/ e.Nothing in subsections b., c. and d. of N.J.S.2C:39-5 shall be construed to prevent a person keeping or carrying about his place of business, residence, premises or other land owned or possessed by him, any firearm, or from carrying the same, in the manner specified in subsection g. of this section, from any place of purchase to his residence or place of business, between his dwelling and his place of business, between one place of business or residence and another when moving, or between his dwelling or place of business and place where such firearms are repaired, for the purpose of repair. For the purposes of this section, a place of business shall be deemed to be a fixed location.
  9. I am pretty sure these are connections for the flux capacitor.
  10. I've also never had any problems with them. Order a case and they have free shipping.
  11. I have a couple of 20 mm brass shells in the basement that my dad brought back from Pearl. They are even dated 1943. Boy they hold a lot of powder.
  12. Yeah if this is fake it is going to be real embarrassing. Dailycaller.com seems to be the original source as the story gets picked up by other outlets (all conservative so far).
  13. Supreme Court Asked to Review California’s 10-Day Waiting Period for Gun Purchases http://www.breitbart.com/california/2017/09/03/supreme-court-review-10-day-waiting-period-gun-purchases/?utm_campaign=coschedule&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=NSSF In Silvester, et.al. v. California Attorney General Zavier the district initially found that a 10 day waiting period to purchase guns did absolutely nothing to deter a person that already owns a gun from committing an impulsive crime. Of course the Court of Appeals for the 9th curcuit overturned the district court ruling. SAF's Alan Gottlieb is now asking SCOTUS to hear the case: "Remember what Senior Judge Anthony Ishii of the U.S. District Court said in his original order, that the state has tacit knowledge that a protected Second Amendment right is burdened by the waiting period law. His comparison of the waiting period to prior restraint is a point that should grab the attention of every journalist who has ever defended the First Amendment while disdaining the Second. A civil right is a right, and all rights are equal and deserve equal protection."
  14. I have a CMP M1 Garand that came with a new Boyd Stock. I disassembled the stock and can see in the hidden areas that the stock was stained. Does anyone know if they also applied any finish on top of the stain and if so what type of finish it is? To my completely untrained eye it looks like stained raw wood but it would be great to get some expert opinions on this. Thanks in advance.
  15. There is a good review and discussion about the strengths and weaknesses of handgun safes at: http://www.handgunsaferesearch.com/
  16. Read this article. It has some surprising results. Lucky Gunner Labs Eye Protection and Shooting Glasses Review http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/eye-protection-shooting-glasses-review/
  17. For those of us that can't get enough of this: List of municipalities in New Jersey https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_municipalities_in_New_Jersey Local government in New Jersey https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_government_in_New_Jersey Boroughitis https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boroughitis

  19. Anyone can file a criminal complaint with your county prosecutors office against the police chief. It is not going to make you popular but the county prosecutor has to open an investigation. The state AG guidelines are outlined here: http://www.state.nj.us/lps/dcj/agguide/internalaffairs2000v1_2.pdf
  20. "There is no specific exemption to take ones handgun to another state in which we have a CCW unless we are going to an exempt location (like a range). Can we take a handgun to another state (locked as per FOPA) for the purpose of just carrying in that state?"
  21. This is much more to this story than we are hearing from most media outlets. I might not like the views of many groups but every group has a right to peacefully march and protest. The left and the media no longer believe in these true American values. Unfortunately one crazy driver took this to a place he should not have gone and the entire group is being assumed guilty. The left has been using violence for a long time (think WTO, and during the election). The media and politicians feed the frenzy. I have no idea how far this is going to go but the good thing is that these are still relatively small groups on all sides. So let the Nazi's and BLM and antifa march (with more separation next time) and celebrate the rights that all citizens have in this country (not just the ones we agree with).
  22. Interesting story and I also had not heard that the demonstrators were armed. The chief also confirmed what the President had said that both groups came at each other armed with sticks, etc.
