  1. This Law Could Make or Break High-Capacity Magazine Bans http://www.realclearpolicy.com/articles/2017/08/16/this_law_could_make_or_break_high-capacity_magazine_bans.html 'California’s Proposition 63 presents a rare opportunity for the Court to step in and make clear that if Americans have a right to any weapon “in common lawful use,” that includes the whole weapon — not just the parts that don’t frighten the California legislature.' The article lays out clearly why magazine bans are unconstitutional under both the second amendment and the fifth amendment "Takings Clause". This case could obviously directly help New Jersey.
  2. Interestingly neither domicile or residence are defined in NJ firearm laws. There is a common law definition as jackandjill, GRIZ, and Smokin .50 have pointed out: Black's Law Dictionary http://thelawdictionary.org/residence/ "Living or dwelling in a certain place permanently or for a considerable length of time. The place where a man makes his home, or where he dwells permanently or for an extended period of time."
  3. As long as your wife (and anyone else) does not have access to the locked rifle then there is no transfer so you should be good to go.
  4. OP: Do you really want to give your wife temporary possession of the rifle or did you just want to leave them at another location locked in strong box/safe so only you can get to them until you return?
  5. Old Bridge has a bunch of different types of matches. If you just want to get your feet we with a "competition" try shooting static steel. its lots of fun and little movement. Five targets. But when that buzzer goes off your heart starts to pound and possibly everything you thought you knew is forgotten. Lots of fun and very beginner friendly. Stages sometimes have swingers where you hit one popper which starts two plates swinging. You can take as many shots as you want. No one cares what your time is its a lot of fun. Tomorrow they have a knockdown steel match. That has more targets on the stage and some movement between shooting boxes. Its more challenging but lots of fun. And everyone will be supportive if you just hit a single plate. Lots of good help is offered. Give it a try you will enjoy it.
  6. Little Boy Crashes NJSP Training at Elementary School I am pretty sure that under NJ's zero tolerance for guns in schools that the NJSP are in hot water
  7. Their next step is to start checking our search history on our devices and arrest us for searching for guns which might be illegal in a location. 1984 is slowly coming. We need more federal judges appointed by Trump and ultimately by Pence over the next 16 years to reverse this stuff.
  8. If anyone wants to know what it feels like before they actually carry on a trip I would suggest carrying around your house all the time. You have similar issues to contend with including the bathroom. It will let you know which firearm feels comfortable and the best way to carry it. Just remember to remove it (and any spare magazines before leaving your property). The first time you leave it in your own bathroom on the back of the tank, will be your last! One suggestion about dealing with holstering up in a free state and also bathrooms is to carry a small backpack for these times. It allows you to holster up in a bathroom and also to temporarily place it in the backpack on the door hook (or on your back if there is no hook). A small lockable backpack works well for travel.
  9. Agree that Bronson was the original but Willis will put his own mark on this. Trailer looks great.
  10. No permits needed (they are only for pistols). You can buy as many as you like. The magazine limit for semiautomatic shotguns is 6 in the magazine.
  11. We need some more time for Trump to appoint additional judges. It took 8 years to get the courts in their present state.Hopefully we will get 16!
  12. Injunctions can sometimes have a national scope unless SCOTUS says otherwise.
  13. Our Federal court system sets up separate federal districts and each have a Court Of Appeals which usually controls that districts courts. When there is a split between the various districts SCOTUS has a greater reason to take a case and give a decision.
  14. The Federal DC Court of Appeals today issued a 2-1 opinion that rejects the DC "Good Reason" law and requires the district court to enter a permanent injunction against its enforcement. The ruling combined two cases BRIAN WRENN vs DC and MATTHEW GRACE AND PINK PISTOLS, vs DC The usual organizations were involved including the NRA, GOA vs Brady and Everytown. https://www.cadc.uscourts.gov/internet/opinions.nsf/005426559985AEE685258168004F376E/$file/16-7025-1685640.pdf "But listening closely to Heller I reveals this much at least: the Second Amendment erects some absolute barriers that no gun law may breach. This lesson will prove crucial as we consider the challenges presented in these cases to the District of Columbia’s limits on carrying guns in public." ...... "To watch the news for even a week in any major city is to give up any illusions about “the problem of handgun violence in this country.” Heller I, 554 U.S. at 570. The District has understandably sought to fight this scourge with every legal tool at its disposal. For that long struggle against gun violence, you might see in today’s decision a defeat; you might see the opposite. To say whether it is one or the other is beyond our ken here. We are bound to leave the District as much space to regulate as the Constitution allows—but no more. Just so, our opinion does little more than trace the boundaries laid in 1791 and flagged in Heller I. And the resulting decision rests on a rule so narrow that good-reason laws seem almost uniquely designed to defy it: that the law-abiding citizen’s right to bear common arms must enable the typical citizen to carry a gun." "We vacate both orders below and remand with instructions to enter permanent injunctions against enforcement of the District’s good-reason law."
  15. So no questions asked...but...can they photo your license plate or take your picture? I guess one could get $120 for their handgun or walk around the block and get ?
  16. Last years conference was great. Looking forward to this years.
  17. Welcome. What handgun did you get?
  18. My understanding is that the signs went up in all of the stores. The sign doesn't mean that the store will necessarily close. Go figure. Maybe it was a negotiating tactic to extract lower rents. Who knows.
  19. Here is a list of 57 stores to be kept open as of June 29: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DDhJ-IcVwAAW3DI.jpg:large
  20. Czech parliament’s lower house passes right of citizens to keep and bear arms ‘to participate in the security of the Czech Republic’ https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2017/06/29/czech-parliaments-lower-house-passes-right-of-citizens-to-keep-and-bear-arms-to-participate-in-the-security-of-the-czech-republic/?utm_term=.3263616014d7&wpisrc=nl_volokh&wpmm=1 So now the Czech Republic will be ahead of NJ! The vote was 139 to 9 so it was even bi-partisan. I hope their Senate is less dysfunctional than ours.

    Newbies 1st gun

Some of the high tech large ranges do maintenance on their rental guns and keep detailed computerized info about the guns. That can give you a pretty good idea of the guns performance over time based upon tens of thousands of hours of use, etc. not just comments from a few people. btw: I didn't want to add my own thoughts just for the reasons you mentioned but I would agree 100% about Glocks reliability.
