  2. Hi, It's been a while since we were on the board so we thought we should update you all on the film, how it's been received and how you can see it. We would also like to thank all of you that help make this film a reality. Here is our current press release and new trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsEt7vLQlNE ASSAULTED: CIVIL RIGHTS UNDER FIRE HITS 100 MILLION HOMES OCTOBER 1st The debate over public safety versus gun rights that has taken place on national news programs, and in state and federal legislatures over the past nine months is now heading into living rooms across America. “Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire”, a 79-minute documentary (PG-13) that brings audiences to the center of the controversy over guns in America, is scheduled to be released October 1st on digital platforms, cable and satellite TV, and in DVD at better brick and mortar and online retailers October 15th. The film takes a step back from the normal public discourse that is filled with emotional rhetoric, to offer unique perspectives on the Second Amendment’s significance in American society while taking a critical look at current gun laws and their effect on public safety and civil rights. Created by two-time Emmy winning producer and writer Kris Koenig (“400 Years of the Telescope,” the upcoming “Fight for Space”) and co-produced by Eric Katzenberg (“Secrets of Navy SEALS,” “American Guns”), the film is narrated by critically acclaimed rapper and actor Ice-T (“Law and Order: SVU”). With the original intent of empowering a citizenry to defend itself against a corrupt or tyrannical government, the concept behind the Second Amendment may seem farfetched today. “Assaulted” weaves together such narrative threads as the post-World War II Battle of Athens and the Deacons for Defense of the Civil Rights Movement with more recent events, including the abandonment of Koreatown during the Rodney King Riots and the heavy-handed action taken by public officials during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, to show that tyranny comes in many forms. With the purpose of igniting a meaningful gun control conversation, as opposed to adding to the existing rhetoric, “Assaulted” sought out constitutional historians, lawyers, law enforcement, educators, anti-violence leaders, gun rights activists and gun owners to lend their voices to the film. The result is more than 30 interviews from advocates on both sides of the argument. What the critics think about “ASSAULTED ” “‘Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire’ is a reasoned counter to Michael Moore's ‘Bowling for Columbine’ and, as such, a constructive addition to the current national firearms debate.” – Los Angeles Times “‘Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire’ comes across as too thoughtful and well researched – in short, too reasonable — to be easily dismissed as mere agitprop.” – Variety “[The film’s] real purpose is to bring some historical perspective to the argument, to move the conversation beyond emotion-based rhetoric.” – LA Weekly “…along the way, the film provides some interesting food for thought that elevates the discussion.” “Assaulted isn't a one-sided documentary popped out of the Michael Moore mold. The film talks to a variety of sources, from fervent gun rights activist Ted Nugent to Dan Gross, the President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.” – Breitbart “Testifies to the vital importance of gun ownership” - Hollywood Reporter

  4. The film will cover all aspects of 2nd Amendment in the country by comparing and contrasting CA to other states - including NJ. Please let you friends know about our project and support us if you can.
  5. Thanks for the tips and advice, I will follow through. I'm starting to think this should be a weekly series...
  6. And this hilariously beautiful piece of work got tweeted out today! It is excellent!
  7. Thanks! Glad to be here with all of you!
  8. Yes, all great ideas and some of which are being examined in the film. The working title was "Bullet Button" to sum up the silly laws, but it was deemed to specific title wise. Sure do appreciate the feedback, keep it coming folks!
  9. Thanks folks, and yes, we agree that we need to look at the entire nation to do a thorough job of this production. I am posting on all the gun forums that will allow me access. We are a small production company but very capable. We need to gather as much research and input as we can to do a proper doc on this very complicated topic. We'll take all the feedback you got! Good and Bad, we want to hear it all. Kris
  10. Good day, I'm new to your board so I hope you don't mind me introducing myself to you in this way. My partner and I are Emmy award winning producers from Northern California. Two years ago we started working on a film about street gangs invading rural California. Due to my repeated contact with gang members, it was recommend that I obtain a CCW permit - which I did. The process led to me learn about the backward gun laws of California compared to the rest of the Union. Through research I discovered that there has never been a positive documentary about the 2nd Amendment and gun ownership in America. Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire will be such a film. Supported by the CalGuns Foundation and Second Amendment Foundation, this PTV/PBS documentary will look at how California is the front line in gun control battle. The film will look at the current assault weapon ban proposals in California and Washington, DC, as well as, CCW permitting across the USA. Here are a few links to learn more about the film: http://kck.st/OllEYn (Our Kickstarter funding campaign where you can see the trailer) http://www.AssaultedFilm.com (The project website) http://www.examiner.com/article/docu...rms-under-fire (An article from the Examiner) https://www.yousendit.com/download/TEhXNWNnQ3Q1aWIwZXNUQw (Gun Owners of America Radio interview) Please post or IM any ideas, suggestions, or viewpoints you want to share with me regarding this production. Thank you for reading this post.
  11. My name is Kris Koenig, and I am a documentary producer in Chico, CA. I am currently starting production on a PBS film regarding the gun laws in California, vs the rest of the nation. I will also be including issues surrounding the 2nd Amendment, reflecting on historic understanding compared to present day interpretations. I will post more info about the doc on the NJ Gun Laws forum section, and invite anyone who has ideas, suggestions and viewpoints to post them or IM them to me. Thank you again for your assistance and for allowing me to participate on this site. Kris
