  1. I had Geico for years, but like every other insurance company, with time, the rate goes up. I switched to Allstate 4 years ago and saved about $300 a year. Was just hit with a $300/yr increase by Allstate with no claims. Their answer......oh yeah, everyone got an increase. Time to start looking again. Anyone deal with Progressive or Farmers?
  2. Thanks HE and everyone else for the Info. I let him know to also run it by his department supervisor just in case.
  3. Hey all. I have a friend who is a NYC police officer. He wanted to come out this way so we could go shooting with friends at Range 14. Are there any restrictions to him bringing his service weapon or other guns to NJ to go to a range? Do his weapons have to be NJ compliant? I'm telling him to leave HP ammo at home. Too many ways to get jammed up in this state, LEO or not. thanks, Maximus
  4. I took the course through MSF years ago. They taught me stuff your buddies who never took the course, probably still don't know. It's well worth the time and money. Riding a motorcycle is a hazardous adventure. I had too many close calls with people who either don't care or just don't see you. I was sitting in a left turn only lane and some guy pulled up right next to me, about a foot away. I banged on his window and he almost crapped himself. He said he didn't see me there. Never mind the people who pull out of side streets or parking lots without looking. Be safe. Drive defensive. Watch those oil spots especially at toll booths. And keep the rubber side down.

  6. Thanks for all the info guys. I'll look into the places mentioned and see what my kids can attend. Pizza Bob It may be better to wait and see if the two part class is dropped. Probably more informative and can answer any questions where the on line class may not have been able to. Thanks.
  7. Are they back open or was it just Bangers that was closed?
  8. My kids just got their FID's and I want to have them enroll in a Basic Pistol course in the South Jersey area. Does anyone know if the course is offered at Ft. Dix? I thought they had the classes there at one point. Also, am I correct that the course is now 2 parts? The first class being online. Thanks
  9. Mastori's Good food, good sized portions, good pricing
  10. What used to be about a month and a half wait for an FID in my town has turned into "at least six months". They are saying they have a desk full of applications and that they can't get them done with Trenton holding things up. Taking the blame off their office and putting it on Trenton. The AG's statement means nothing because there will be no repercussions. So, things go on as they have and we get to live under their rules.
  11. That sucks. You posted as I was sending out my last response. Looks like you're going to have to get info from the tax collector anyway, so you might as well ask them about help with the comps.
  12. Depending on how helpful your township tax collector is, they can supply you with the comps you need if you visit their office. I live in Evesham and the tax office helped me and my daughter with comps. Since they have all the tax listings in the township, it's as simple as them looking in their records. They go by similar model of home, square footage, etc.Again....as long as they are a helpful group. Give them a call and see if they can help. It saves a ton of time.
  13. You're welcome. Good luck. It pretty much painless doing it on line.
  14. I've appealed my taxes for the last couple of years and have had decent results. This link is for the online appeal. https://secure.njappealonline.com/ProdAppeals/login.aspx Each county has different deadlines to file. I filled out the form, actually with the help of my township tax assessors office to get the 3 necessary comps, paid the $30 to file on line, waited for someone from the township tax office to come to the house to do an appraisal, and finally got a judgement. They will give you an offer to accept. Take it or don't. If you don't accept, I believe you can go to court to fight for more. In my case, I got a reduction in taxes both times so no court needed. First time I did it I used a lawyer, but I did it on line this time and had my daughter file hers also. Check out the link and filing dates. Good luck
  15. Response from a Trenton Democrat NEW JERSEY GENERAL ASSEMBLY REED GUSCIORA DEPUTY MAJORITY LEADER 144 WEST STATE STREET TRENTON, NJ 08608 (609)-292-0500 FAX: (609) 571-9647 EMAIL: [email protected] COMMITTEES CHAIRMAN, REGULATORY OVERSIGHT FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS AND INSURANCE LABOR GOVERNOR’S COUNCIL ON HIV/AIDS August 31, 2016 Dear Mr. Xxx: Thank you for contacting me regarding the Governor’s conditional veto of A3689, which clarifies the standard of “justifiable need” to obtain a “carry permit,” and S.816, to require “personalized handgun technology.” Unfortunately, the Governor’s conditional veto attempts to re-write the legislation and thereby expand his constitutional authority. Since this is clearly a violation of separation of powers, I urge the Governor to work with the legislature for a new bill rather than merely refashion language contained in the bills to attempt to effectuate a completely different outcome. This is ironic given the Governor’s criticism of the President for issuing Executive Orders when Congress fails to act on a given issue such as immigration. While I recognize the right of persons to obtain firearms in conformity with the Constitution as well as current case law (ie., DC v. Heller), I believe New Jersey citizens favor rational gun control measures that lessen the likelihood of firearms getting into the wrong hands. In this regard, you may be interested in my bill A2605, which eliminates the presumption of non-incarceration for theft of a firearm. Nonetheless, thank you again for writing me regarding the Governor’s conditional veto. Should you have any issues in the future please do not hesitate to contact me. Best, Reed_Signature (6) WRG/njg
  16. That's correct Zeke. You off the meds again?
  17. Yep. That would be $25 for the transfer + $15 for the NICS = $40. Funny how that works out.......lol
  18. http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/76465-centaur-firearms-llc/?hl=centaur http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/79049-centaur-firearms-in-lumberton/?hl=centaur Nice guys in there. Did a handgun transfer through them. They were charging $40 plus tax for transfer and NICS, but mentioned possibly raising in the near future to about $50.
  19. Maximus. He's about 8 years old now. Great smart dog once he got past the puppy years.....lol
  20. ^^^^^thisBeen there done that. A lawyer will wind up being more expensive. Try the mediator route. Lawyers keep stoking the fire and dragging things out. My bill after lawyer fees, not including what it cost me in the settlement, was $35k. Every time something was agreed upon, she decided to change something. Back to the lawyer, try again, another change, and so on, and so on. Best of luck. Try to keep it as friendly and non threatening as possible. If you can get it done quick, do it. Don't let it drag. Time is money.

  22. I was looking for a local FFL and came across this shop. Has anyone had any dealings with Centaur Firearms on route 38 in Lumberton?. Their transfer fee on firearms is $25 plus $15 and tax for NICS.
