  1. ^^^^ this^^^^ Finally, someone with common sense! I could add hating the Eagles more than Dallas to this thread if this had anything to do with football. =)
  2. Does anyone know if they would honor a NY State big game hunting license and bow tag from 1987 to get a NJ hunting license? I've hunted in NY, Montana and Wyoming but the last time was about 7 years ago.
  3. Wednesday night with the family in front of the TV. It's one show that is always hilarious and holds your attention. Si, Jase and Phil are the show. Especially Si. And the career day with Si and Phil at the kids school is one of the best episodes. I just don't think I could eat squirrel brains!
  4. Checked up on my rifle's specs. It's a Spikes Tactical. From Spikes forum: All standard ST parts are mil-spec components and meet or exceed the M4 TDP. ST buffer tubes are machined from 7075 series aluminum and has MIL-A-8625F Type III Class 2 hardcoat anodizing covered by MIL-L-46010 dry film lube. Covers me except for the NJ compliant pinned stock. Thanks for the response. It made me go verify what I have.
  5. Sorry........ Only kidding guys. I thought the smiley face might have brought that out. I may be crazy but not that crazy so my kids tell me. Don't know about the "throwing the gun" post.
  6. I did trying throwing the gun but only once. It landed barrel first but the bolt didn't release, so I banged the stock on the table instead. That got 'er. Guess the stock end would be preferred over barrel end.
  7. The charging handle was fully forward as well as the bolt. I could not get it to move back at all. I did not try the bolt carrier release button. That may have helped to inch it back. I'll keep that in mind if there is a next time but hopefully it doesn't happen again. Thanks for the input.
  8. His ammo is only for his bolt action. He doesn't have a semi in .223. I didn't get the chance to go as far as checking the OAL of his rounds. I guess the best way to shoot reloads is to shoot your own. I don't know exactly what process he goes thru during his reloads but I think I'll let him keep the ones he has. I checked the stock and the pin for any damage. I did not see any. There is a 1/8" dia pin in there so it should be strong enough to take one serious bump. Thanks for the help guys. I just wanted to make sure I had the right procedure.
  9. Perfect day for the shooting yesterday. Took my daughters and a friend and we went off to shoot. Everything was going fine, that is until I got a major jam. I had just put 5 rounds of my buddy's reload ammo in the mag and my daughter was going to try the AR for her first time. I load the mag in, pull back on the charging handle, loads round, she fires, goes bang. She goes to fire next round and nothing. I take the rifle back from her, put the rifle on safe and try to clear jam. Remove mag, tried to pull charging handle back and it will not budge an inch. I don't know if it was an overfeed over the bolt or where it was jammed. I could not see anything from the mag well or the eject port. I had read somewhere to try to mortar the rifle when you have a jam like the one I had. Seemed like my only solution. Honestly, I really didnt want to do it because of the safety factor and the damage issue. Placed a towel on the bench and while bringing the rifle stock down, kept pulling on the charging handle. It released right away. Head of the bullet was rounded over I assume from the jam. Is there a better, less drastic way to clear a jam like that which will not cause damage to me, other shooters or the firearm? Everything else fired fine though the rifle except the reloads, which I handed back to my buddy to use in his bolt action. I don't really want to do that again if there is a better way to clear that type of jam.
  10. Congrats to all of you pregnant families throughout this post. I have 2 daughters that are older now but believe me when I say they will put you through all you can handle. First thing I said to any guys coming over was, "Let me introduce you to my gun collection". That will get their attention real quick and keep them on their toes.
  11. I picked up 3 from them a month or so ago. 1 held 15, the other 2 held 16. Called them and spoke to Brian. I sent them back and they repaired them. Took a couple of weeks to get them back but their service was great. They don't want any issues with our great state either.
  12. ^^^^^this^^^^^ Emailed both to let them know they will not be forgotten. Also mailed Senate Addieago to tell her to really think about her vote and to research these bills before blindly voting on them.
  13. I just checked my reps, Brown and Rudder in district 8. Both are Republicans. Brown was "yes" for everything I checked and Rudder was a close second. For the most part they it seems they don't care about our rights, so I sent e mails to both regarding their votes and where I will stand when they try to get back in office. Remember all the ones who voted to pass these bills and get them out of office next time around. Hopefully it will not be too late for us.
  14. Remember how fast the seats filled up in Trenton last week? Does anyone have an idea how many seats there are for Thursday? Their plans are to arrive around 11. Maybe those that can make it Thursday plan on getting there well before that to fill the seats, make the line to get in extra long and have them sitting in an overflow room like we did. Maybe they can get together outside and hold a peaceful meeting like we were forced to do. At least it may limit their attendance. I wish I could be there again but I have an MRI scheduled for Thursday. It was a great experience to be able to stand with you all. Again, Stand strong and make the numbers count.
  15. And from the Saratoga County Deputy Sheriff's PBA to Cuomo and friends: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B56MnMGOf6wrSzBuM0V3UjAtN2M/edit
  16. There's something I look forward to. Hearing the facts straight from uncle Joe Numbnuts. It seems signing up for their petition site automatically, at least in their minds, places you in their camp. I have signed several petitions and any of the responses I have received have always leaned in their favor. They address you like the petition you signed had nothing to do with their response and this must be what you really meant! It's probably just their way to put happy, flowery, I love Obama thoughts in your head. By the way, just a reminder, their petition website now needs 100,000 signatures before getting a response. If the responses are like the OP does it even make any sense to sign them?
  17. And when it gets to 100,000, will he just up it again? Sure sounds like he doesn't want to hear any issues the citizens of this country may have.
  18. Is it even compliant with the stock he has on it? I would think not since it is adjustable with a tool and not permanently fixed.
  19. This has got to be a joke. If it is, the NRA has not released anything to rebuff the story. What the hell are they waiting for? The game looks like it was released on Jan. 13 and all of the news and antis are jumping on the bandwagon. Now the " NRA is spitting on the graves of those children in Newtown" one article said. http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/01/15/16524425-nra-releases-practice-range-shooting-app-after-blaming-video-games-for-violence?lite
