  1. I've been to several sites, uscca, handguns.us, us law shield and they don't seem to give the same info as to what states your good and what states are a no go. Don't know if they're up to date to not. So I'm thinking since I have a NJ and Fla permit, carry to the ferry,  lock it up and take it out in florida. We make 1 stop usually in SC in which case I would bring it in the motel.

South Carolina is probably the best gun friendly state (with the least limitations) that requires a license or their limited reciprocity.

It's a little longer, but I-81 to I-77 south, to I-26, to I-95 only leaves 11 miles of Maryland on I-81 to transport under the firearms owners protection act (FOPA).

Most likely taking the ferry to Delaware then Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel.

  3.  Just looking for some insight by those of you that might do this often. I have a NJ permit, Fla non resident & Pa non resident permits. Be making one overnight stop. Any input/ advice would be appreciated. My research shows in both Maryland and DC I'll need to lock them up. Other states as follows:

    STATE         ACCEPTS

    Delaware             FLA

    Maryland            lock it

    DC                      lock it

    Virginia              NJ, FLA, PA

    NC                     NJ. FLA, PA

    SC                       FLA

Ga                    NJ, FLA, PA  - I believe it’s now permitless.

Not sure if this is the best thread to put this but it seems reasonably appropriate.

Listening to GFH radio over the weekend, I thought I heard AC say something about duty to inform even if you are going to the range and NOT carrying. I had a call into USLS on Friday so I added it to my list when I spoke with the attorney today. And the answer is that YES, if you have a NJ PTC and you have a weapon in your possession in accordance with the previous exemption regime (e.g., locked and unloaded in the trunk) you STILL have a duty to inform LE. Which means that you MUST have your PTC on you at the time even if you are NOT carrying. If you don't have a PTC then the old rules apply.

What I didn't think of until after the call was whether or not informing is considered probable cause for a search of my vehicle.

Why would you need your carry permit on you if your not carrying concealed?

Just looked at my checkbook from 2021, I mailed the check for $97 to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Unfortunately, I don't have the full mailing address. I remember calling and speaking to a guy after a short wait. Maybe try calling and the 'contact us' option again? Good luck.

    Thanks, much appreciated.

I believe so, there were instructions on the application stating where to mail the check.  I'm away for a few days but will look at my checkbook when I get home. I also remember calling them with a question about something as well.

Thanks, appreciate your replying. Read the instructions several times and didn't see anywhere for an address. I tried contacting them via the "contact us" option on their site, emailed them and called them. No response. I was assuming the check gets made out to FL Dept. of Agriculture and returned to them because thats where the finger print cards came from.

I went through the FL Dept. of Agriculture. Requested a few fingerprint cards and printed out the application. Had my fingerprints done at the Sheriff's Office here, no charge. Got photos done at AAA for$6. Mailed the application, fingerprint card, photos, copies of NRA cert. and DL, and check for $97. Almost as easy as getting a non-res PA carry permit.

Did you make the check out to the FL Dept. of Agriculture?

online instructions say nothing about copy of DL or copy of NJ CCW. Are they required?

Before mailing your application, please review it carefully to ensure that it is COMPLETE and ACCURATE. You
should include the following items with your application.
TRAINING DOCUMENTATION as described in the section pertaining to QUESTION 6 above
CITIZENSHIP/RESIDENCY DOCUMENTATION as described in the section pertaining to QUESTION 5 above
    (if applicable)
COURT DOCUMENTATION REFLECTING FINAL DISPOSITION OF ANY ARRESTS (if applicable)
    PHOTOGRAPH
A COMPLETE AND LEGIBLE SET OF FINGERPRINTS OR A COPY OF YOUR RECEIPT FOR YOUR ELECTRONIC
    FINGERPRINT SUBMISSION
A CHECK OR MONEY ORDER FOR THE APPROPRIATE FEES

You need Basic Pistol,  prints,  picture,  application,  and 97 dollars.  Mine took about 3 weeks.  There is no more distinction of non resident or resident. The permit does give you some other rights when purchasing also.  See the Florida law for more specifics.  GFH has it all listed on the website.

    Thanks, all by mail?

  11. So with Murphy pretty much making everywhere a sensitive place and then Judge Renee Marie Bumb granting a request from a coalition of gun owners and Second Amendment groups to extend the temporary restraining order, allowing permit-holders to bring their firearms into an array of public places deemed illegal under the new law, including beaches, casinos and public parks, how do we tell where we're actually at legally. Hard to keep up with this stuff. Is there a statute somewhere clarifying it. More specifically, I hike a lot, can you carry in a state or county park? Was at a state park yesterday and asked an employee in the office behind a desk if you can carry concealed and he said no. Don't know if he was a ranger of just an employee or if he even knew the right answer.

It looks like Permitium has implemented the new non resident rule that states non residents have to apply in person. It was supposed to start 4/1 as posted on the permit page but people have had this happen since the weekend.

I finally got through. Still taking online applications. At the end of the application when it asks if your from out of state check yes. Then in the explanation put  " Submitting 3/13/2023, prior to the April 1,2023 cut off."   Of course change the date to your application date. You can then proceed to pay.

Here's the actual transcript from the chat with Permitium "

One moment. I am looking into this for you

    thank you

type in the explanation:Submitting 3/13/2023, prior to the April 1 2023 cut off.
