  1. Did it have the "hassle free packaging" option?
  2. I have one and love it. Thousands of rounds through it With no failures. Feels good in the hand and super accurate. I would recommend everyone have one. When going to buy one though make sure you get a replaceable grip model. I found the original wood grips on mine to be a little square and prefer a more rounded feel like my 1911. I made a small modification to a set of 1911 grips that I had to make them clear the slide release and it's a great improvement
  3. I did a lot of gas plug research but never bought one. If I decide to it would be the garand gear one. For now I'm just buying ammo from the CMP. and yes you need to be a manner of an affiliated club/agency to buy am of rom the CMP. It's easy though. The garand collectors association is cheap and easy to join and that makes you eligible. http://www.thegca.org
  4. The double loops are to accommodate different size belts in width (dress vs duty vs standard uniform cut) or thickness.
  5. I went to a dicks over the weekend to do some window shopping and to kill some time (i know i know). and decided to ask about some bolt action center fire rifles on the rack. Told the sales-teen behind the counter that I was looking for such and such a model in 30-06. After pointing to exactly which rifle I was looking at (he was unable to locate the rifles in question otherwise) I asked him what he had in stock. After showing him where to look for the clambering his reply of "it says 7 M-M, is that what you are looking for, I think im reading the wrong thing...."! He then picked up the next one off the rack and said "it says point 2-7-0 win. Is that what your looking for?" After beatin my head against the counter I thanked him for his time and walked away frustrated at the loosing battle. Apparently the training standards are sub par. It's ok though, I'm sure he got a trophy in little league for showing up despite being the worst team in the league....
  6. That's ok I still appreciate the input it was good to read about your experiences.
  7. Thank you all for your input. After going to the shop and holding both guns a few time I decided to get the M&P 40. I bought one from a forum member and shot it today. It is great I'm very happy with my decision. Thank you all for your input!
  8. Hi everyone, I did a search looking for a similar thread but was unable to locate one, I apologize in advance if this has been discussed before and I missed it while searching on my phone. I am looking into getting a new handgun and have narrowed my choices to a Springfield XD 40 or a S&W M&P 40. I am looking for everyone's opinion on the two. Which one would most of you prefer? Any advantages, disadvantages, known issues with either? Thanks in advance John
  9. I had this problem and found that sometimes although locked in the mag was not always seated properly. Now whenever I put in the mag I insert it with a bit of force and then give it a good tap to make sure it is in all the way and my problems stopped
  10. Best way to clear a jamb I hear
  11. found it, It was a k98 not an M1 but seems like other people had the same problem here is the link http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=105089&referrerid=14659
  12. I would heat the welding rod with your stove or some other consistent heat source. I will try to find the thread on the CMP forum
  13. Someone had the same problem on the CMP forum recently. He fixed his issue by heating and repeatedly passing a welding rod down the barrel until he melted a hole all the way through the center of the snake. This relieved the pressure inside the barrel and he was able to then push it out with a solid cleaning rod.
  14. Bad enblocs. Never would have guessed
