  1. Did it have the "hassle free packaging" option?
  2. I have one and love it. Thousands of rounds through it With no failures. Feels good in the hand and super accurate. I would recommend everyone have one. When going to buy one though make sure you get a replaceable grip model. I found the original wood grips on mine to be a little square and prefer a more rounded feel like my 1911. I made a small modification to a set of 1911 grips that I had to make them clear the slide release and it's a great improvement
  3. I did a lot of gas plug research but never bought one. If I decide to it would be the garand gear one. For now I'm just buying ammo from the CMP. and yes you need to be a manner of an affiliated club/agency to buy am of rom the CMP. It's easy though. The garand collectors association is cheap and easy to join and that makes you eligible. http://www.thegca.org
  4. The double loops are to accommodate different size belts in width (dress vs duty vs standard uniform cut) or thickness.
  5. I went to a dicks over the weekend to do some window shopping and to kill some time (i know i know). and decided to ask about some bolt action center fire rifles on the rack. Told the sales-teen behind the counter that I was looking for such and such a model in 30-06. After pointing to exactly which rifle I was looking at (he was unable to locate the rifles in question otherwise) I asked him what he had in stock. After showing him where to look for the clambering his reply of "it says 7 M-M, is that what you are looking for, I think im reading the wrong thing...."! He then picked up the next one off the rack and said "it says point 2-7-0 win. Is that what your looking for?" After beatin my head against the counter I thanked him for his time and walked away frustrated at the loosing battle. Apparently the training standards are sub par. It's ok though, I'm sure he got a trophy in little league for showing up despite being the worst team in the league....
  6. That's ok I still appreciate the input it was good to read about your experiences.
  7. Thank you all for your input. After going to the shop and holding both guns a few time I decided to get the M&P 40. I bought one from a forum member and shot it today. It is great I'm very happy with my decision. Thank you all for your input!
  8. Hi everyone, I did a search looking for a similar thread but was unable to locate one, I apologize in advance if this has been discussed before and I missed it while searching on my phone. I am looking into getting a new handgun and have narrowed my choices to a Springfield XD 40 or a S&W M&P 40. I am looking for everyone's opinion on the two. Which one would most of you prefer? Any advantages, disadvantages, known issues with either? Thanks in advance John
  9. I had this problem and found that sometimes although locked in the mag was not always seated properly. Now whenever I put in the mag I insert it with a bit of force and then give it a good tap to make sure it is in all the way and my problems stopped
  10. Best way to clear a jamb I hear
  11. found it, It was a k98 not an M1 but seems like other people had the same problem here is the link http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=105089&referrerid=14659
  12. I would heat the welding rod with your stove or some other consistent heat source. I will try to find the thread on the CMP forum
  13. Someone had the same problem on the CMP forum recently. He fixed his issue by heating and repeatedly passing a welding rod down the barrel until he melted a hole all the way through the center of the snake. This relieved the pressure inside the barrel and he was able to then push it out with a solid cleaning rod.
  14. Bad enblocs. Never would have guessed
  15. I had some 1 in steel square tube laying around that I dropped in the base of mine for weight haven't had any problems in the wind
  16. Could you try using an inverted can of canned air onto the casing to cool it and shrink it and then try the cleaning rod again?
  17. Don't quote me but I believe the Sunday morning sessions at OBRPC are open to the public. Non members just pay more (20 instead of 10)
  18. To make it easier I will post the parts list on here All pipe is 2 inch PVC 30 ft PVC pipe 4- tee's 6- 90 degree elbows 2- cross tee's 2 couplings I cut the 30 ft of pipe into 20 inch sections. (16 in total). (The remainder was split up to form the upright) Each coupling, tee, or elbow has one section of pipe pre connected to it and held in place with a self tapping screw to make assembly simpler The upright sections can be cut into with ever lengths you wish, I have 1 20" piece and 2 other pieces of pipe of varying length. The 20" pipe on the upright is not included in the 16 count given above. Please look at the attached sketch for assembly. I apologize in advanced for my poor art work, I am not an engineer, architect , or an artist. For use as just a paper target stand take out the 2 20" pieces of pipe with the couplings pre-attached to narrow the stand a bit, leave the 2 upright 20" Lents in place and insert appropriately sized wood into the pipe to serve as your uprights (I currently do not have a picture of this but will add one after my next range trip this week. I also bought 4 2 inch pipe brackets and attached them to some 1x6 to act as shelves to stand items on. If you have any questions or need better detail then let me know
  19. Sorry didn't realize I forgot to attach the picture
  20. Tis is 2" PVC pipe, most sections are 20 inches long, the whole thing breaks down and stores in a sea bag for ease of transport. It is easily adaptable as well. The top section comes off and the bottom of the stand is in 2 pieces. This allows to easily convert it into a traditional target stand by dropping 2 1x2's into the uprights. The top cross pieces are drilled out so i can hang things (like bowling pins) and the bottom cross pieces have boards attached so you can use knock down type or stand up targets. On an aside the bowling pins absorb hits pretty well, I have put well over 1000 rounds of 22lr, 500 rounds of 30-06 and about 1000 rounds of 40 s&w through them and they are still good to go. If anyone wants plans/parts list let me know and I'll send it your way.
  21. Group buy going on now my friend. Here is the link to get in n it. http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/55355-the-official-steel-target-group-buy-thread/page-2?hl=+steel%20+target
  22. Indeed the same one! D&R stands for Delaware and Raritan. The canal starts in New Brunswick, runs south to Trenton and then back North via. "Feeder" canal that ends near bulls island on the Delaware. In total the trail is 58 miles (36 on the main canal and 22 on the feeder. Here is the link to the D&R commission website: http://www.dandrcanal.com/ Ad the state parks website: http://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandforests/parks/drcanal.html Due to its proximity to the 6mile run resivoir site both websites contain info on that trail system including detailed maps. I prefer the commission website over the state but they are both helpful.
  23. I usually hike the gap. Both nj and pa side. Most of the at from the gap to high point is fairly accessible and pretty easy going once you make the ridge. By far though the best views are in the gap. For simple trail biking I hit the D&R canal tow path. Nice and flat, shaded, nice things to look at good history and great if you just want to pound out some simple strait forward miles with out any challenging terrain.
