  1. Another cool wrinkle - opticsplanet.com fulfills via Amazon. You can shop there, pay via Amazon account and choose their 2nd value shipping options as Prime customer.
  2. These have been out of stock since before Christmas - I've been checking every day for two weeks. http://www.americantactical.us/4590/detail.html They showed up as in-stock this morning - I suspect it's an ecommerce engine glitch showing them in stock, but that didn't stop me from ordering a few. The ATI website will only ship to FFLs already registered with them. I already spoke with Frank at the Silver Bullet in Rockaway, NJ and his going rate for transfers is $50 per S/N. I read good things about his shop and he struck me as a straight shooter on the phone (he was as surprised as me that they were in stock)
  3. At the risk of getting a reputation as OpticsPlanet.com #1 fan boy, check out their OPMOD extreme soft case Is priced at $30 http://m.opticsplanet.com/opmod-floating-msr-extreme-gun-case.html I got a 38" one. It's well made and I just measured w tape as 11 3/4 high inside. It has regular carry handles and a single adjustable strap to sling over one shoulder on back (like a soft guitar case). OpticsPlanet fulfills through Amazon so if you checkout through the amazon option everything ships value for free if you've got Amazon Prime
  4. I'm new new to optics too. I'm looking for similar setup and been oggling Redfield Revolution 2-7x32mm wide view scope. Theyre selling for $169 before $30 rebate all over web. Is 32mm a wide enough FOV that one doesn't need to close one eye? Would this work well enough on rings at traditional factory location? Forward mounted? Really more for a different use scenario? The optic is for a Ruger PC9 that's not much good out past 125-150 yds Again sorry for obvious noob-ness of this question
  5. These have been tagged here before. Great pricing if you want to try one http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/firearms/receivers/ati-omni-stripped-lower-receiver.html They also have complete lowers w M4 stock - not sure if these are NJ lega to ship befor stock pinned - for $119.99 + shipping.
  6. Thanks for sharing your experience with your HD7. I'm pre-positioning for Xmas at this point and hope to attach one to a new rifle by end of 2012
  7. Effingers has gotten much better on price over the last two years. The selection not so great but I find they have a good eye for used handguns (I bought a 1968 colt officer match 6" for $450 last fall). The sales guys have gotten less grumpy but still fall short of glad to see you. I'm picking up a 22 rifle for my son this weekend from Lou's. Chris has been great - he ordered a right handed Savage Rascal to size him against and then ordered him a left handed one. He did a lot of work for a $200 rifle and was very pleasant throughout. I find their pricing comparable to Eff but the service much better. I plan to make future purchases from them if this one goes well Anyone buy from the Heritage Guild out on 22 in Branchburg yet? Great selection. High prices.
  8. The online reviews of this newish product are positive. I'm intrigued by it as an all-purpose optic for use on rimfire and 9mm carbines that are on my wish list. The AAA battery strikes me as a big plus. Anyone have one or shoot one at a demo?
  9. I got a FL CCW in APR-11 considering it a $117 cover charge to be counted as an active firearm owner by the statisticians. I haven't actually used it yet - even in PA. I got my subcompact pieces when a family friend inherited a modest collection of vintage firearms and being that she lives in CA now she turned them over to me. Her dad had impeccable taste and the lot included a Colt Det.. Special (Gen-IV), a S&W Model 60 and a Walther PPK/S. As they say, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good - I never would have invested in these living here in NJ but I have come to appreciate how well designed pocket sized guns have to be and what fun they are to shoot.
  10. I found the Charter concept intriguing too The online range reviews on the 40 SW variants don't inspire a lot of confidence. I'd love to hear from someone who has actually put a coup,e of boxes of FMJ down range with one. Beware the value priced 9mm S&W revolvers listings on GB. Most of them are chambered in 9mm SW and the ammo is near impossible to find and crazy pricey
  11. Optics planet.com is my new favorite destination for accessories. They fulfill via amazon.com, so if youre an Amazon Prime member 2-day shipping is free for everything they sell. Shop direct thru opticsplanet.com the choose checkout via Amazon and select value shipping (it's not the default option). The shipping zeros out and you're good to go. They don't seem to promote this at all on their own site but their products show up on amazon searches with Prime shipping using their site within amazon isn't easy to search. I used it last week to get a hard Plano case and the $36 shipping zeroed out.
  12. I'm a new-new member whose been lurking around NJGF for at least a year. Optics planet.com is my new favorite destination for accessories. Anyway their SERPA deal right now is awesome http://www.opticsplanet.com/blackhawk-cqc-serpa-holster-active-retention-matte-finish-4105.html
  13. Really cool build. I handled a 9mm Just Right AR based carbine over at Lou's this weekend. Anyone have any experience w these relatively new models? Have you read any good articles on how these factory rigs compare to the DD components?
