  1. Well without a long winded post it would be hard to summarize. So far to me it hits on both views ( pro and anti) but mostly anti. He's calling for measures soon.
  2. It was also stated that she was a prepper of some sort. I know from experience that most people that prep tend to try and save as much time as possible to be able to safely gather and go. What if this was the case with the guns? What if they were placed somewhere loaded to be easily accessible just Incase? At the beginning of this I stated my concerns with the accessibility of the firearms. I always keep a pistol at the ready, but un-chambered. My long arms are all locked away, but still relatively easy for ME!! To gain access. If loaded guns stored unsecured was what occurred, then I believe this is something that needs to be addressed.
  3. What area of the state are you in? That's insane! Glad everything worked out for you.
  4. I never said it wouldn't of happened, I said what if it would of prevented it? I'm only stating my opinion under the assumption she may not have had a safe.
  5. I need help getting a petition going for a "School Marshall" program utilizing retired military vets and retired LEO's Is anyone interested in helping me get something going? Who would sponsor a petition like this? NRA? Military job friendly organization? Educational organization?
  6. I really believe it to be one of the best ideas I can come up with. Add a level of security that would allow people to feel safer after this incident. Employ a growing number of unemployed veterans. Top priority- keep our children and teachers safe! The concealed carry wouldn't heighten fear for young children. But I also feel having someone on staff could help educate children on lawful gun ownership, and the positives behind it.
  7. Why not employ all of these Vets coming back from oversea's? After a thorough mental eval, and some specialized training. They could be put in place similar to an air Marshall, school Marshall. They would be in plain clothes, concealed carry, possibly a badge as a visual deterrent. Something to think about.
  8. I've been thinking about this soo much, I keep coming back to the one thing I don't understand. Why did he have access to these weapons? Why isn't there anything in place that would require gun owner to show proof of owning a safe? You can only purchase as many guns as your safe is designed to hold. Yes I understand that most people keep some type of weapon accessible most of the time. Maybe we should designed some type of method of securing these weapons within reach, but safely out of others hands.
  9. Quote from Internet. " How do you obtain a Firearms Purchaser Identification Card and/or a Permit to Purchase a Handgun? Download Form A2. You must apply at your local police department. If you do not have a local police department or you are an out of state resident, you must apply at the nearest New Jersey State Police station (excluding toll roads, stations on the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, and Atlantic City Expressway). For any further information outlining specific requirements, contact your local police department or nearest New Jersey State Police station. "
  10. I'm no expert on this issue, but I think both addresses have to match ( fid and DL) I think you can apply for a non resident fid though. Don't hold me to any of my information. I'm new to all this also, just stating what I have read so far.
  11. I've been a Vineland resident all my life (except for a year in Las Vegas, and I'm currently 50ft from the Vineland border in Millville) I grew up in the old part of town... Mostly Italians that eventually moved out into the farm lands. It was comprised of the original houses ( where I grew up) surrounded by low income apartment complexes. I eventually relocated out into the wealthier side of town. This side is comprised of mostly tradesman, police, cpa's, dr's, small business owners, and anyone else that can afford the insane property taxes. For a 14 acre plot the taxes came out to a little over 15,000$ a year. There were smaller, lower income families living next to the larger houses built outside the neighborhoods. You also have clusters of neighborhoods where each house have a value of at least 750,000$. Mostly dr's, and people involved with money. They kind of lived in their own bubble. Where I lived, I was surrounded by people with similar views. We choose to live a little more secluded, we were able to shoot in our backyards. Large number of hunters, almost everyone I know owns a gun. I hate to cut off now, but I have to fly. I'll pick up where I left off tomorrow.
  12. Is there anyway that would be legal?
  13. I just read an article stating he fired the rifle initially at the first group upon entering the building. Then advanced down the hallway with 4 pistols.... I believe the media is just trying to outdo the previous articles.... The mixed reports are extremely confusing.... I feel the media should have to wait to report until at least some facts are known.
  14. Nice to see another Ron so close by. I'm really hoping I get a call soon. Just got done watching a debate on CNN about gun control after today. What is involved in transferring a long gun between friends? Paperwork, matching FID and license and preferably done at a fll to get it electronically filed? My local GS wouldn't hold a gun for me. Even with 100% payment. I'm getting worried this might have been the straw that broke the camels back.
  15. Well if worse comes to worse, tax return will sweeten the deal. I'm starting to consider building my own now. My good friend has a few spare stripped lowers. I was thinking of buying all the parts to build it. By the time I purchase and build I'm hoping my card should be in. Then he can sign the lower over to me. I'm not really sure of the laws behind that idea. The lower Would remain at his house in the workshop until my card comes in.
  16. Thanks for the welcome! I don't understand why I would take that long.... They have a fully staffed full time records dept that handles the permits. I'm really hoping that the tragedy today doesn't hurt my chances of getting the AR I have my eye on. I'm absolutely sick to my stomach, I wish there was a way for the legal gun owners to reach out to the families and express our remorse.
  17. I was saying this earlier. I was stating how NYC has a ban on soda over a certain size. They blame the sugary drinks for obesity problems, when in reality they are passing the blame. Instead of addressing the sedentary lifestyle most people live today, they blame an item that when consumed in large portions isn't good for healthy active individuals. Idk.... This I a very sad day... Prayers for the families and everyone affected.
  18. Thanks for the welcome! The loss of freedoms hurt pretty badly. This state also has insanely strict laws on titling dual sport motorcycles.... Another problem I encounter after moving back.... I'll probably be Florida bound in the next few years. Or Nevada again, or Arizona... Pa at the least lol.
  19. I hope everyone is having a safe and pleasant Friday. I wanted to stop in an introduce myself. My name is Ron, I'm currently residing in Millville, NJ. I lived in Las Vegas from my 21st birthday until the following September ( 9months ) I fell in love with anything firearms related while living there. I was 13 days out from starting Metro's Police academy, but due to a family emergency I had to relocate back to NJ ( still very upset about that) While living out there I purchased my first pistol ( Ruger SR9 in stainless ) To think all I had to do was walk in the store, throw down cash, wait for NIC's to come back, wait 72hrs and pick my gun up. Thankfully I was able to shoot at the GS's indoor range immediately following my payment. Well when came back to NJ I put off applying for my FID, wish I would of got it right away... I haven't been able to shoot anything other than my shotgun (Winchester 1300 fully rifled and my Remington 66nylon) since I've been back. I was fortunate enough to live on 14acres outside city limits. Well last week my buddy picked up a bushmaster ar15. Well that got my wheels turning... Thankfully I dropped my app for fid off Wednesday 11/21. I have already set my sights on a Windham Weaponry Ar. I took some pistol training classes in Las Vegas for my CCW, but decided open carry was fine for me. I didn't really have the money at the time to finish getting my CCW. Is anyone familiar with the wait times for Millville Pd to issue my initial FID? There were no PP's I didn't want to delay my app any longer. My references receive their form the following week, and returned next day. It's only been 3wks so I'm not going to call yet to check my status. I was planning on purchasing my first black rifle right after Christmas as long as everything is in by then. If anyone local to me could give me a heads up on wait times, I would really Appreciate the help.
