  1. Nope FAL style project. So min length would be folded for shortest config. Flash hiders, permanently attached, etc only apply to "asualt weapons", so with permanently (welded) mag everything is is good
  2. Lets say weapon is semi auto, 15 rd mag, permanently attached, 16.5 inch barrel, with muzzle brake, and folding stock. Would this not be legal? How would the over all length be measured for NJ law compliance?
  3. I'm still currently commuting back and forth from PA but, I just wanted to post the Email response from Senator Bob Casey. The Email was a response to one I sent stating I did not believe a ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines would fix anything and the government should instead focus on enforcing existing laws already on the books. In the end, it seems like he has drank the Koolaid and will support his friend Senator Dianne Feinstein and other anti-Second Amendment losers! "Thank you for taking the time to contact me about recent proposals related to guns. I appreciate hearing from you about this issue. As you know, on December 14, 2012, an individual in Newtown, Connecticut forced his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School and opened fire on teachers and staff in the building. In total, the perpetrator murdered 20 students between the ages of six and seven years old, as well as six adults, many of whom heroically sought to stop the shooter and save the lives of children. Like many Americans, I was deeply affected by the scope and brutality of this act. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. The motives that led to this senseless massacre will likely never fully be comprehended. However, I believe that all public officials have a responsibility to work to prevent such an event from occurring again. This incident reflects a complex problem that requires a comprehensive strategy, including funding for law enforcement officers and the mental health care system. Too many individuals with mental illness are not receiving the services they need and tragically, sometimes a small number of these individuals turn violent. I have supported access to affordable and accessible mental health services for all Americans and I will continue to review proposed solutions to improve our mental health system. As lawmakers consider an appropriate response to this challenging issue, we should consider all of the factors that could prevent such heinous acts. As you may know, I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. Pennsylvania has a fine hunting and sporting tradition, and I will defend the right to bear arms as it is enshrined in our Constitution. I will continue to back the right to bear arms for purposes of self-defense, recreation, sporting and collection. However, I also believe that the attack at Sandy Hook Elementary School highlights very serious dangers posed to public safety by the misuse of certain weapons and technology originally developed for warfare. According to reports, the shooter was able to kill many children and adults very quickly because he possessed a military-style semiautomatic weapon. He also allegedly used magazines containing up to 30 rounds of ammunition and carried hundreds of rounds more. After much reflection and careful study of the issue, I have decided to support a federal assault weapons ban as well as legislation restricting high capacity magazines. In light of what occurred at Sandy Hook, these are two measures that will lessen the chances that this will happen again. Before supporting such a law, I would first and foremost ensure that it did not unduly abridge the right to bear arms as established by the Second Amendment. Our Nation has already begun a critical dialogue as we examine what steps must be taken to prevent this type of tragedy in the future. On January 17, 2012, President Obama unveiled a package of proposals to reduce gun violence, which included strengthening the system of background checks, reinstating the assault weapon and high-capacity magazines ban, improving school safety and expanding access to mental health services. I look forward to reviewing these proposals in detail and to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to address this complex issue. On January 24, 2013, Senator Dianne Feinstein of California introduced S. 150, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2013. This legislation would explicitly permit the possession of affected firearms that were owned prior to the bill’s enactment; firearms that are manually operated; firearms used by military, law enforcement and retired law enforcement; and antique weapons. Further, this legislation lists 2,258 hunting and sporting rifles and shotguns that are entirely exempt from the ban. This legislation would ban the sale, transfer, manufacturing and importation of all semiautomatic rifles that can accept a detachable magazine and have at least one of seven specified military features. S. 150 would further ban semiautomatic pistols that can accept a detachable magazine and have at least one of certain listed military features, as well as ammunition magazines that can accept more than 10 rounds. The Assault Weapons Ban would also regulate the transfer and storage of permitted, grandfathered weapons and allow local law enforcement to use certain federal funds for voluntary gun buyback programs. The Assault Weapons Ban was referred to the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, of which I am not a member. Please be assured that should this legislation come before the full Senate for consideration, I will have your views in mind. Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about this or any other matter of importance to you. For more information on this or other issues, I encourage you to visit my website, http://casey.senate.gov. I hope you will find this online office a comprehensive resource to stay up-to-date on my work in Washington, request assistance from my office or share with me your thoughts on the issues that matter most to you and to Pennsylvania. Sincerely, Bob Casey United States Senator My response to his Email. In light of the position you have taken in your email, in regards to the 2nd Amendment, it is apparent I can no longer support you. As an Independent, I find that neither party, represents, the majority of American Citizens', or my views. This country has slipped a considerable way down that "slippery slope" on just about any issue you can name. As a result, more and more, TAX paying citizens are marginalized, and disaffected, in an effort to appease those who produce little to nothing but expect, ever more. To that end I wish you well, but will, for the first time in my life, become actively involved in politics, with the intent to support any candidate who wishes to oppose you. Politicians have made the mistake, repeatedly, of pandering to the media masses, who are vocal, organized, and have round the clock, sound bites. Unfortunately for all of us, this leads to further erosion, of everything around us, as permissiveness, allows anything, in the goal of political correctness, and "individual rights" regardless of the impact on the majority. In some cases this, is as it should be, as this country is not an absolute Democracy, but a Republic, as it was set up. This was intended to protect the rights of the minority against the tyranny of the majority. Why all are punished, for the dereliction of a scant few, runs contrary to everything this country was founded on. As with most things, politically motivated, legislations are more about, feel good, do something now, so we look good, as opposed to lets take time to figure out whats really wrong, like Mental Health, and how we now turn individuals out into the "mainstream", who are unable, to function. Or how criminals are repeatedly turned back out into society. The FBI's own statistics prove that not only are "assault weapons" (incorrectly defined), not an issue, but bats clubs and knives are more deadly than all guns. Perhaps we should enact, Baseball Bat control like Japan, or perhaps steak knife control like Scotland. Criminals DO NOT get their guns from gunshops, gun shows, or legitimate gun owners. Once again FBI statistics prove this out. Strangely the regions with the strongest gun control, also have the highest gun crimes, while the opposite is true of regions where gun laws are lax and legal, and ownership is highest. Once again these facts, are born out by the statistics. While mass shootings, as horrible as they are, barely warrant a mention in crime statistics. If we are going to try the "if it saves only one child", BS, how about we apply a larger metric and do something that will save hundreds, perhaps thousand of lives?? Maybe we should legislate the return of individual responsibility. Perhaps we should reinstall moral and cultural values, into our society, Perhaps instead of allowing kids to curse in school and disrespect teacher, ( New York City), instead of ignoring assaults and thefts (Chicago), maybe, we should focus on the quality of life issues, that have be swept under the rug, for the advancement of entitlement. An inconvenient truth is the vast majority of gun crimes are Black on Black, gang and drug related (80%), and Black on White, rapes assault and robbery (17%). In Philadelphia alone the number of people killed with a gun who had a prior criminal conviction was almost 93%, in 1996. 75% of gun crimes are committed with handguns, 4% with rifles(this includes so called assault weapons), and the rest with shotguns and unspecified firearms. Does this indicate there is an "Assault Weapon" problem?? Not likely, using common sense, this would appear to indicate a societal problem, not a gun problem, not a race problem, not even a rights, or freedoms problems. Perhaps politicians, should apply themselves to correcting the problems they themselves have facilitated, with hackneyed, ill though out and rushed "we need to pass it so we can see what's in in" legislation. The simple fact is legislation like this is passed is because it's easy, not because it's effective. You can seize and control my guns and my neighbors, because we abide by the law, and you know where we are, and we are afraid of loosing everything else, so we are cowtailed, into compliance. it can be seen on TV that politicians "did something" How will you get criminals to hand in theirs?? Harsh language?? Using the "War on Drugs" as an example, that should turn out well. Perhaps if the government could be trusted with guns, (The BATFE, Fast and Furious, Milwaukee), we law abiding citizens would be more willing to listen. But all we hear is an ever increasing chorus of infringement on us, for nebulous ends, and feel good media events. Maybe Congress and the Senate should finally pass a Federal Budget, (4 years delayed and continuing)so economic factors would have some idea of what the hell is going on. How about some real immigration reform that doesn't spit in the face of millions of legal immigrant who paid their money, jumped through hoops and did it the legal way. Instead of contorting law to reward 11-30 million, (who even knows how many there really are) Illegal, yes Illegal Immigrants , who broke the law, who will for the most part collect far more from SS and other benefits, than they are paying in. Yes, we are STEALING from them at the moment, maybe we need to fix that too! Those with fake SS numbers, are paying into a system, they currently cannot collect from, that's not fair either. How about some semblance of Foreign Policy, perhaps we should send more weapons to Egypt, now that they are courting Iran. Nah lets support Syrian Freedom Fighters. Oh by the way who are they exactly??, Lets send them weapons anyway. Exactly how are we helping the Middle East? It's nice to see Iraq turned out so well, oh wait... yeah that's right, their courting Iran too. Oh well it's only 1.4 trillion dollars of US taxpayer money poured down the drain, so Iran and China can gain domination in the Middle East. Any illusions of how Afghanistan is turning out?? Maybe we should drone some more countries, because that really makes friends. Perhaps our ally Pakistan, can help, they helped us find Osama bin Laden after all. Perhaps, politicians should pay attention to their jobs and take care of the big things, before they decide to make 120 million, American, tax paying citizens, felons overnight, so in their next TV interview they say they did something "meaningful" about the non existent "Assault Weapon Problem" After all isn't Government regulation, interference, and money the answer for everything? Everyday, we all see how that turns out. Respectfully XXXXXXXXX Feel free to resend or edit as you need, as long as intent does not change
  4. No, actualy FN FAL clones have the ability to load via stripper clips, with the correct cover.
  5. If I took a gun that would otherwise be an assault weapon under NJ law. Modified the magazine, to accept only 15 rds, then welded the magazine to the weapon, would that still be an assault weapon? If you can modify the magazine to be legal, can you modify the weapon to be legal. Any case law?
