  1. wow....be carful of those that speak this way ya'all.....think what it reminds you of
  2. Never said that not hung up on it..... I don't think you are reading my post completely just trying to find some chink in the "armor" to debate with. No displaying a firearm in a confrontation is not a good idea to me...your post on precautions basically proves my point that using your brain is your best defense.....I never thought I would have this much back in forth from the solid logic I expressed but hey its a discussion forum so I get it....carry on I feel like a fighter taking on all comers....
  3. Man its tiresome to always have to say there are exceptions.....but that what you offered are..... exceptions....most crime that people normally encounter ....and you and I both know it....isn't the type the type you just offered up. Normally I get hit with this type of arguments by people of the Liberal persuasion. They offer up dramatic examples that are far from the norm to try and put you in your place....oh yea....yes there are exceptions.... did I cover that?
  4. Say Que? Are you one of those posters that feel they are so respected they don't have to make any sense...... . Come on you know you patted yourself on the back after that ingenious post didn't you. I'll ummmm stop "flipping out" now.
  5. Point taken with your analogy of running....nice post.... the best posts are the ones that get you to think...good work
  6. The best way to keep you and your family outside the home is with your brain and choices you make....most of the time "bad" things happen in "bad" areas at bewitching hours...I know there are exceptions but you get it. People that are victims of crime outside the home often have made unfortunate choices as to were they were at and what time of day they were there. Fair? of course not....is there random crime? of course but these are usually criminals wanting to take something from you.....Not someone running up to you to assault your family and run off with your wife and daughter...I mean for the most part you can agree right? If someone holds you up are you gonna give up your twenty dollar bill or draw a gun I mean really think about it. I would actually like to have the ability to carry but as I said countless times only draw a firearm when all hope is lost such as someone running off with your family. Am I uncomfortable carrying a firearm no because I have my head straight about this serious subject. Again think of the aftermath of a shooting and how much is out of your hands ....scary stuff. If you read my post I said I feel using a firearm is the worst form of self defense because afterwards you will be defending your self for years against lawyers and courts. I would use a gun only after every other option is exhausted such as running, kicking in the crotch, mace (mace is sold at hardware stores so im thinking its legal but ill look into it) just like I said...To hell with being Macho I need to be here for my family and shooting someone is a bad way of doing that. In my home if I can get my family out of course I will this isn't some movie.....but If I cant God help you. Read my post from the start I didn't misrepresent myself you misread or took liberties with very clear points..... but points different then your own and I guess the forum which did strike a nerve ( I know I know arrogant term). This is big boy stuff again not a movie...I am not saying anyone in here would be careless with a firearm but some responses I get....I dunno maybe it just me. Also one last point I do not believe in carrying a firearm, hoping the sight will scare someone off....If I make the very serious determination to draw a gun its because im ready to use it. Its not me screaming at you.... its my words....they are screaming at you for a reason.....otherwise you would of laughed and moved on...right?
  7. What did I "give" lol I mean seriously. And my mistake but to me it did seem that you came off as some kinda arbiter. Was it me or were you a little put off that I had a different opinion then the majority. I get it..... its being part of the big herd saying NJ sux......... I mean it may be at least a little bit part of the problem but nah nevermind
  8. wow how do you respond to such a post. I wonder if anyone else thought that's what I was going for. Damn I just wanted to join in, you guys always so unfriendly to the new guy? Or am I a special case. Beeee nice .
  9. Wait I was just told that term was arrogant? Again i'm just a new fella trying to throw my 2 cents in. Peace brothers I meant no harm. I understand some people are prone to let little things get under their skin I just forget it sometime. I agree jersey sux can we be friends?
  10. sorry I used such harsh insulting language I'll definitely tone it down a little thanks for the advice.
  11. You definitely seem manly I agree no doubt about that, as you said being manly just must be the way you roll as for us others hell I'll run before I shoot any day I know I know you are shaking your head in disgust but hell being manly isn't for everyone.
  12. and I quote "obvious you have been brainwashed" opps my bad? care to elaborate? or....
  13. wait what? maybe i'm slow but can I have an explanation? It seems I disagreed with just about every post on this topic so yea I'm confused or maybe you didn't mean to quote me if so my mistake.
  14. To all of you that found utopia cool congrats you don't have to prove it to me after all I'm new to these forums just looking to join in discussion. People will disagree with you don't be so thin skinned. Dems certainly hate opinions different then their own do you?
  15. Hmmm seems I rubbed a nerve. Wasn't my intent but interesting all the same.
  16. Did not mean to oversimplify but I just went with the reasons I see most people are leaving NJ on this forum. I'm also not challenging anyones decision to leave I left myself for place I thought with all my heart was better. One of my problems with NJ is its to crowded so I guess I applaud your move. But for the sake of discussion i'll reply to some points best I can. Better weather: Umm kinda agree but I personally like the weather out West. Humidity is a bitch Lower taxes: that can't really be discussed totally accurate Able to afford more house: Come down South Jersey getting downright cheap here Better schools: I don't know the specific school system you are speaking of but being that I have family in SC, TN, and FLA I here the schools are a mess in the south and have a very hard time attracting quality teachers. Politics: Political enviorment is changing rapidly in places like VA and NC mostly because of migration of people from the northeast and immigration from south of the border. CCW: I think you can admit that you took liberties in rephrasing my statement. 100% gunfight? I just stated I feel using a firearm is the worst form of self defense and is only an answer for me in a hopeless situation and as I look at it with open unemotional eyes yes it can certainly ruin your life because so much is completely out of your hands in the aftermath. I don't know where you are moving down south but if its SC enjoy the shrimp and grits I know I do.
  17. I am assuming most people on this forum want to leave the Garden State due to two reasons, taxes and the ability to conceal and carry. While I have many gripes about NJ and have left for California for a time and came very close to moving to South Carolina I'd like to share my perspective on the topic. Property taxes are high in NJ and while researching our move to SC to be close to family, we found out that we would pay about $5,000 less a year down south. We also found out my wife would make $22,000 less a year with comparable experience. Those numbers spoke loudly to us. Also the comparing the crime statistics NJ actually ranks very well while SC has disturbingly high rates in just about every catergory as do many southern and south western states. As for conceal and carry we should without a doubt be able to obtain a license which we all know most of us can't. But at the same time I feel using a firearm is by far the least favorable method of self defense. It without a doubt will change your life forever whether you are in a "free" state or in NJ or CA. You under extreme stress must make every decision perfectly as well as shoot perfectly or end up in jail or being sued and losing everything. Even if you do everything perfectly you are at the mercy of courts and lawyers which is very frightening. My method even if I could carry would be to run, use mace, kick in the crouch, etc. and only in the complete loss of hope would I ever think of drawing a firearm. All this being said my answer would be "no" to leaving this state for these two reasons. Everywhere has it problems without a doubt and I see myself leaving someday but the choice is complicated and I am sure I will have gripes about the new place I end up.
  18. I own a gen 4 g19....from the directions, tips, and videos everyone posted it does seem pretty cut and dry how to install the sights. Being a new shooter correctly aligning the sights seems like something may have a little trouble with. One poster mentioned marking with tape where the old sight was for a reference point, this makes sense to me and if its that easy then it should be no problem. On the other hand I saw a video where the person in it kept mentioning "zeroing" without telling exactly what it means which seems a little more complicated. I will probably give it a go just hate for something happen to a firearm that was such a long drawn out process to get in the first place.
  19. I'll trust you that they are easy to install but the last "easy" thing I installed were slip on exhaust pipes for a motorcycle that were promised to "slip on" and "slip off" ...turns out they did neither. After about three hours and 8 skinned knuckles I made the promise to myself I make after almost every do it yourself project, "next time I'm paying someone that knows what they are @#&*! they are doing. All that being said and this is a legit question, since sights are for aiming isn't there some amount of precision in setting up the sights or do they snap in in the perfect spot everytime? Also with the Dawson's which model do you suggest or have experience with?

    Glock Sights

Hello everyone I was wondering if any Glock owners could give me advice for the following: Due to eye strain I want to get larger sights for my Glock handgun , can you recommend any that have worked well for you. Also I am in South jersey and would need someone to install the sights, is this something a typical gun shop can do or is there anyone specific you can recommend. Thank you for any advice.
  21. Thank you for the suggestions. After checking the websites of the shops mentioned I have a list of places I am going to check out. I am no expert but I feel the place closest to me which is Zues is overpriced but I still want to support a shop that is somewhat local.
  22. The store looks great but from what I understand on their website they only have a indoor range. Is there a range in this area that's has an outdoor range?
  23. I am in Atlantic County and purchased in the past from Lawmen supply in Pennsauken. I heard they no longer sell to the general public so I am looking for another shop for ammo and firearms within an hour drive. Anyone had good experiences or recommendations for a place to go?
