  1. Didn't want to make a new thread and I hate to thread jack but is there any gunshops you would reccomend in the burlington county or camden county area?
  2. Last update: Got the call from the PD secretary saying my i.d and permits are ready!!! Damn it has been too long. If anyone has any questions regarding my process or district 7 feel free to ask!
  3. Thank you. I just received an email from Cabelas for some ammo that was back ordered and due for Monday back ordered again for the 25th of March. This will come in handy.
  4. magna cart or bust! seriously a good bugout bag and 200 rnds of each caliber in which I own would suit me quite well.....
  5. Thanks! I see you're in the neighboring town and frequent the same range as me too.
  6. &--#60;-- 4 months and 22 days this guy has been waiting. I've been in the same dilemma so trust me when I say you are not ALONE! My background information came back but I was told by the police captain that he was not signing off on permits because crimes, murders, and thefts all take precedence over issuing gun permits. Frustrated and desperate I contacted my assemblyman (Senator Diane Allen)® in my district(7) to assist on my behalf as to why my permits and I.d. were being held up. A quick email/letter to the Senators office on wednesday yielded great results by friday. She also mailed a nice letter to my residence yesterday ccing an inquiry email she sent to my municipality on the issue. For better words, my assemblyman inquired on my behalf why my permits and i.d took so long. I highly reccomend contacting your assemblyman, what's the worst that could happen?
  7. Update: Good news! It seems my visit/email/fax to Senator Diane Allens office motivated my local police department to follow up with my references and complete my application. I received a call yesterday evening from a detective at the municipal building trying to inquire about my references. He also asked for a direct number to my supervisor at work which I was hesitant at first to give but ended up giving anyway. I was giddy with excitement so I didn't bother to ask why he needed the number. The detective also stated that my I.D and permits will be ready next week. Is it legal or possible for the Police Department you reside in to contact your employer? I'm assuming it is to verify employment only correct? To add icing on the cake, I received a nice letter with a gold seal yesterday from the office of Senator Diane Allen stating she had taken action and contacted the Public Safety Director of my township to find out why I have been waiting for so long. Today both of my references called me and let me know they were contacted by the same detective I spoke to about character references. I'm not out of the fog yet but I can only hope... I will create a seperate thread regarding my experience to answer questions and help others who might be in the same dilemna.
  8. I should have, at this point i'm not concerned with stepping on any toes! Thanks I will look into this route as I am planning to join.
  9. I'd like to assume anyone who purchases ammo for that price was born with a few extra chromosomes. I only posted it because of the free offer
  10. Update: The Captain returned my call once again and fed me the same bs stating that there is a murderer on the loose and aprehending him takes precedence over approving gun permits. I explained my situation and when I told him waiting 5 months was unacceptable he responded by saying there are other citizens waiting 7-8 months. I haven't heard back from the senators office but hope to by the end of this week. I feel sick to my stomach knowing that municipalites can do this with no reprecussion. If anyone has any further advice or information on how to handle this situation, it would be greatly appreciated!
  11. Hey njgf, I saw this deal posted on another forum and figured I would post it here. There is 2 days left to submit so act fast guys. (I am in no way affiliated with this company or promotion.) Although it's a "luck of the draw" contest, it cost nothing to apply and the worst that could happen is you won't receive 500 free rounds. Link: http://www.bulkammo.com/rifle/bulk-.223-ammo#contest In this crazy ammo market, it's no surprise .223 is tough to find. To help pad one fortunate shooter's supply, BulkAmmo.com is giving away 500 rounds of brass-cased .223 ammunition on February 23 (2/23)! To enter tell us why you love shooting .223, and then share the contest with your audience or friends (website, blog, Facebook timline, Google+ page, or Twitter followers). Use following URL: http://www.bulkammo.com/rifle/bulk-.223-ammo#contest
  12. Minor update: I went to the police department once again today after little success yesterday making no further progress. Today the captain was off or unavailable so I opted to speak to his secretary which is the same woman I dealt with prior. I was told to leave a note AGAIN and it would be placed on the captains desk. When I tried to explain that the delay of my permits or I.D. was unacceptable I was given the bs line that murders, crimes, thefts blah blah all take precedence. Fed up I decide to contact the senator for my district (#7) which is Diane Allen. I spoke directly with her director regarding my issue and was informed that I need to give consent for the senator to contact my municipality on my behalf. I am currently composing an email as I type this with hopes that my issue will be heard.
  13. Hey njgf I have a quick question, is there a way to verify my background applicant status with njsp? If so, is there a number I can contact? I'm about to go speak with the police captain of my municipality in a short while and I would like to be prepared as possible. I figure having any and every possible piece of information in regards to my permits and I.D. would help. I've heard of townships claiming they're waiting on the state to return the background check so I want to be covered in all aspects. unimportant side note: I hold a DoD clearance and receiving that took less amount of time.
  14. How do you like that vice? I'm considering the Tipton best gun vice but considering all options and have yet to see yours...
  15. Well i'll be the second to mention a polymer gun. I'm currently waiting on my permits but I hope that RRA releases their polymer frame 1911 in .45acp that has been in the works for quite a while. I know it's sacrilege but I don't care!
