UPDATE: I've got a statement written up, ready to be given to LEOs - just waiting on NJ2AS approval. I spoke to Morris County Sheriff Ed Rochford, who said he supports this effort 100% and declared his strong support for the 2nd Amendment. I've also contacted the NJ chapter of the Oathkeepers to get them involved as well. If you want to help, contact your local PD - either by phone or in person - and ask them if they will protect the citizens of your town and refuse to enforce the 10-round capacity limit bills if they become law. If you want to use the statement I've written, just PM me and I'll send it to you.

During the rush for gun control laws in the aftermath of the Newtown shootings, state, county and local LEOs from around the country publicly stated they would not enforce any of these potential laws. The NJ Legislature is dominated by anti-gun politicians hellbent on citizen disarmament. Our appeals to them have fallen on deaf ears. Technically, our only hope of defeating the proposed 10-round mag capacity limit is through Christie's veto, and he hasn't proven to be the strongest 2A supporter. If we got county and local law enforcement, in public statements, to say they will not enforce this unconstitutional capacity limit, it may give the tyrants pause. Many LEOs are private gun owners themselves and would be affected by this bill. Obviously, the "left"-leaning areas of the state would be a lost cause, but they would be forced to go on record as supporting tyranny. The State Police would also be a lost cause. Law enforcement in the "right"-leaning areas of the state should be more sympathetic, however, and if they aren't, again they'll be forced to defend their stance in public (or at the polls, in the case of sheriffs). There is a similar effort in Connecticut right now, with hundreds of LEOs refusing to enforce their unconstitutional gun confiscation law. A law is nothing but words on paper if nobody is willing to enforce it. I think what he's going for is that according to the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, his firearms were legal. Which is true. According to the unconstitutional NJ "laws", then they might be illegal.

If enough veterans/active-duty military members (especially veterans of OEF/OIF) voice opposition to NJ's ridiculous laws, the anti-2A politicians might back down a bit. After all, they probably don't want to be seen as being against our troops.

Definitely not. While gun control seems to be dead in the water at the federal level, various states have taken steps to infringe on our rights. The NJ Assembly rammed through a bunch of anti-gun bills, some of which will be taken up in the NJ Senate. New York residents are still fighting Cuomo's tyrannical "SAFE" Act. Democrats in Colorado managed to ram through some anti-gun bills, and Magpul (famous AR-15 magazine and accessory maker) will probably end up leaving there if those bills become law.

They currently use 2 lanes for rifle shooters, the rest for pistols. If you brought your rifle and pistol, I'm sure you could shoot both. As far as how many people are allowed in one lane, I'm not sure. I would think it's probably 2, but you'll have to ask when you're there.

Can't see how an AR-15 or any semi-auto mag-fed rifle can be considered "unusual". They're some of the most common guns out there. And semi-auto is semi-auto. The addition of pistol grips, flash suppressors, etc. doesn't change the operation of the gun. They're gonna have a hard time defending this.

1. Population density is not an excuse to restrict individual rights. 2. Even an untrained shooter can change a magazine in a couple seconds. Unless you're Charles Mainor, in which case it'll take you 20 seconds. 3. This is a strawman argument intended to over-exaggerate the pro-gun position. The 2nd Amendment recognizes the right to keep and bear arms for self-defense, whether from criminals or a tyrannical government. Weapons such as nuclear weapons, battleships, etc. are capable of inflicting a large amount of damage to innocent bystanders and property. They are impractical for self-defense. A more discriminating method of self-defense, such as firearms, are necessary to ensure innocent bystanders and property are not harmed. 4. True assault rifles are heavily regulated under the NFA. Regardless, SCOTUS has ruled that the 2nd Amendment protects firearms that are of "military use". The term "assault weapon" is a recently-invented term for common semi-automatic rifles that are similar in appearance to military assault rifles. They are commonly used for self-defense, hunting, target shooting, etc. and have been for years. They are more accurate than pistols and shotguns, making them a practical choice for the aforementioned activities. 5. The U.S. also has a much larger population than other industrialized countries. Crime statistics will inevitably be higher. 6. This puts preconditions on the exercise of 2nd Amendment rights and is therefore an infringement. Do we require public speaking training before a person is allowed to exercise their 1st Amendment rights? 7. Registration always leads to confiscation. U.S. law also prohibits the government from gathering information about gun owners. 8. What happens when a criminal steals a gun and bullets, then commits a crime with them? While serialized cartridges may Sound like a good idea, in practice it will have no effect on crime.

Here's a thought - why don't we go on the offensive? Aside from the Feb. 8th rally, it seems we're mostly reacting to the anti-2A side's actions. We keep trying to put out brush fires - why don't we start some of our own? Let's get some pro-2A politicians to put together their own panels. Let's set up our own protests outside the offices of politicians. Take a page out of the radical progressive playbook.

I'm gonna try to be there. We need to pack that library with as many of us as possible.

I've been arguing with some of the anti-gun people in the comments there, under the name "DTOM76". They have no arguments to offer (do they ever?), just emotional pleas.
