  1. Well, I don't know how "old" is but I have a feeling I am very near that catagory at 56. I was born in NJ and lived my entire life here. Thanks to several employers I have worked for over the years, I have traveled around the world several times and visited about 75% of the 50 states. Your post is timely as another snow storm is coming our way. As I get older, I find the weather, taxes, politics, etc. here in NJ to be increasingly painful. I would leave and move south in a heartbeat if it were not for my wife and family ;(
  2. Welcome to a fellow "Ocean County" Member! Congratulations and welcome to the forum! I am a newbie as well and find this to be a friendly and informative group. Good luck!

    My newest purchase

Congratulations! That's a fine looking gun and one I would be proud to own. Can you tell me if this is the model (92FS - Italy) that can be converted to shoot .22 or .22lr? I am a bit confused between the FS and FS1B. I know you have the real deal from Italy but that's about all I can see. Go out and break it in
  4. That's a FINE gun and one that is on my list to try & buy. Do you know if there is a kit available to shoot 9MM? Also I hope you don't mind my asking but did you have to go through hell to get this gun? I am waiting on 3 P2P and would like to put some money down on my first gun. I am a bit torn between this gun, a Beretta FS 9mm or an XDM 40 S&W. I'm in Ocean County and new to both this forum and the sport so I don't have a "network" to call around to. Shore Shot is down here but that's another story.... besides, from what I see they are mostly Glock. Enjoy!
  5. That's great news! At least things are "in process". Hope your wait is short (mine too)!
  6. yep, this is my entry to the club FID and 3 P2P. I have a feeling that I will be looking for more permits shortly after I get fully up to speed!
  7. I sent mine in yesterday. I'll let you know as soon as I get them. If you can, please send me a PM so I remember who I should update! Tom
  8. I used two very close friends who will turn it around very quickly. I asked them to let me know if they are contacted in any way (letter or phone). That is the only way I will have to see the process is really moving forward.
  9. You're right, I have been very pessimistic since this whole "attack the gun owners" BS started. Perhaps they will come in on time. I'll let you know. Thanks!
  10. Well I hope we both get them early! Let's keep in touch and see who gets them first. I am in Toms River. We shall see....
  11. Well folks, after waiting over 2 weeks for a fingerprint appointment, I finally got it done yesterday. My town requires prints to be done first before submitting forms. Everything went in yesterday and they told me 6-8 weeks. I put in for 3 P2P due to OGAM. Looks like mid to late March before I can buy anything. Hopefully I'll get lucky and things will move along faster ;-)
  12. looks like they are gone now, no backorder option!
  13. Welcome! Glad you "came out" and joined the group. There is a lot to learn here and many good people to learn from. Tom
  14. Dwamp2006, That is a great looking gun! I see its a S&W but I don't know which one. What exactly is it? Thanks, Tom
  15. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I honestly did not take this into account and that is a big mistake! For $2 more, it's a no brainer to get an extra permit "just in case". Thanks for the benefit of your experience! Tom
  16. Jackandjill, I see the logic in the spare permit but being from NJ, I fail to see how it can be used. Regardless of the number of permits you have issued, they expire after 90 days or if extended, 180 days. After that don't they expire? How does one go about keeping a permit or two on hand for future purchases? I am going to submit my paperwork on Jan 30th as its the first time I could get for fingerprinting. That said, I will gladly add to the P2P count. Thanks, Tom
  17. Done! I hope the rest of the country can be counted on for support.....
  18. I joined a few days ago. When you fill out the online app, it takes you to an "invoice" page. Once there, you can pay the $35 with a paypal account. There are other options as well. I got my card in the mail today, less than three days! Tom in TR
  19. The poll cited is not statistically large enough to be meaningful. In addition, there is no control group of people who are deemed to have feelings in equal parts or no parts, thus constituting the balance. In order to be significant, the questions asked on the poll, the number of people polled and the geography needed to be included. There are many more factors but this should show the poll is not worth the paper or ink used to print it Tom20
  20. Welcome to the forum! I am also from Toms River. Lots of good information is shared here and lots to learn. Tom
  21. Thank you all for the warm welcome. I am trying to read up on the laws and start the paperwork process ASAP. I'll be making a trip to Oak Avenue in the near future. As I progress, I'll keep you all posted. Tom
  22. Greetings All, I joined the NJ2AS today and it directed me over here for the Forum. I am in Toms River NJ and looking to learn. Not quite sure how this all works yet but I am a quick study ;-) Thanks for letting me join your group! Tom
