Hmm... we have a joint account, I worked 2 jobs for years paid for the mortgage, kid's private school, 3 college educations and funded a retirement. My wife didn't work. I think I I need to look into separate accounts.

Thanks for the replies, I am debating sending it back to Ruger, but it looks like a really minor repair, something that I should be able to easily do. The spring may even still be there, but it may have slipped off. I may take a look tonight and if the disassembly is as easy as it looks, I might just do it myself.

I think I need to repair or replace the slide stop spring on my SR22. The slide stop will lock the slide open when engaged but needs to be manually depressed in order to allow the slide to move forward, the stop stays up and doesn't drop down when I pull the slide back. From what I can see on an exploded parts diagram, there is a small spring that should keep the slide stop down and it looks like that spring is either broken or has fallen off. Has anyone ever had to change this spring? It looks like I can get the firing assembly out of the frame by removing a roll pin at the handle. Just finished a batch of Black Rifle Co- Thin Blue Line. Wasn't aware of their politics, need to look closer at that, thanks for the heads up. -
Just hearing on Fox, there was a "massive" explosion in the airspace over Montana. Anyone else hear anything about this?

Happy New Year!

So, somehow my son lost both keys for his truck, a 2010 Ford F150 I would guess that even a 2010 uses a key with a transponder/chip. Any suggestions on where we can get another key made? My son has access to the truck using the key codes, but we need a new key. Do I have to go to the dealer, or can a lock smith make one? Any recommendations would be appreciated. We are in Central Jersey in Allentown. Thanks.

Thank you for the offer, I will probably just change out the battery. It is testing less than 12.6V open circuit and drops way down when lights are turned on, so I am thinking it is starting to go.
-
I agree, I think I will just change her battery, and if the alternator is still outputting 13.9V at idol, we should be good to go.

2013 Mazda 3, battery is probably 4-5 years old. Yep, VA to NJ plus back and forth to work for a week. Yes- 13.9v at idol. I am thinking bad battery or... my lovely daughter left a light or something on in the car.
-
My daughter just recently moved to Richmond VA after graduating college. She called me last week to tell me that her car wouldn't start, and she thought it was the battery. Of course, she didn't leave any of the lights on or anything like that (had to take her word), I told her to get a jump and if it starts take it to the local Midas and if needed get a new battery. She went to Midas, and they told her she needed a new alternator, and it would cost her at least $1000. I told her to hold off and I would check myself. After she got the jump start, she drove the car for a week back and forth to work with no issues. She works nights, so she drove home every night with the lights on, a 10-minute drive but lights on, nonetheless. When I met her this weekend, I first tested the battery with the car off, got 12.3V. With the car running I got 13.9V. To me, this points to a good alternator and a weakening battery since it was below 12.6V under no load. Was the dealer trying to scam a 22-year-old girl or could the alternator still be bad? I drove the car from VA back to NJ with no issues. Thanks,

Using a video camera to zoom in on a scale
jm1827 replied to jm1827's topic in Ammunition & Reloading
This is my second option, bringing the scale up to eye level and making the platform large enough for a powder trickler. I think the camera option might be easier. This will only be for rifle loads that I do on my single stage, I have a powder cop for my progressive that I use for my pistol loads. -
Looks like Santa Clause

I have seen reloaders using video cameras hooked up to their laptop to zoom in on the zero pointer of their balance beam. I am thinking about giving this a try, I did a quick experiment with just my phone, and it made it much easier to see the pointer. Has anyone else tried this and if so, is there a camera that you recommend? Thanks!

My doctor had the option of joining one of the large hospitals under their terms or retiring and he chose to retire rather than try and work in their system.

My primary care physician is retiring so I need to find another in the central NJ area, preferably in or around Freehold or Monroe NJ. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know. Thanks!

CCW Restricted Places Exception
jm1827 replied to g17owner's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
So, let me get this straight. When only the elites were allowed to CCW, they could basically carry anywhere with a few exceptions such as schools, courthouses, etc. But now that the unwashed masses, i.e., us are allowed to carry, they will place as many restrictions as possible on where we can carry? I would think that any substantial changes to the existing policies could be challenged? -

Reloading 38 special 125 gr Hornady XTPs
jm1827 replied to plumbshotsam's topic in Ammunition & Reloading
I only crimp my .38's enough to remove the case flair, but I shoot them in a S&W 686, which is a heavy gun and being a 357 mag has some room in the cylinder if a bullet tended to walk out a little. While I go nuts with case prep, measurement, powder, distance to lands, etc. for my rifle loads. I tend to pick a near bottom load with whatever powder I have and stick with it for my target/plinking loads for my pistols.
