  1. I got a letter mailed to me. Snail mail. Haven't gotten one of those in years except the bulk mail congressional surveys that Garrett likes to send out.
  2. Jim Quinn from WPGB in Pittsburgh, host of "The War Room with Quinn and Rose" did announce the rally on the show this morning. That was really nice of them. They're on XM channel 166 every morning from 6-9AM.
  3. NJSP in Sussex wanted me to make an appointment but it was hardly an interview. The trooper had to witness the signature for the mental health. I assume this is pretty standard.
  4. That state has become more 2A friendly since Gov. Scott Walker took over. Get this - Walker may have been saved from recall by the CCW issue since that was a very popular reform. Yes, there are the fiscal issues too. I don't think this will happen in NJ, but you never know.
  5. The best was the lambo dealer whose complaint was that he had too many cash buyers. smh
  6. Love it! Now that is my idea of a gun buyback...
  7. "If you can ban a big gulp you can ban a big gun" sign was epic. Don't they realize that logic is working against them? The Government took away one freedom so it's ok to take away another? Besides, the constitution doesn't give you the right to keep and bear big gulps. Arms on the other hand...
  8. I have to agree with NickJc. I would not participate in a gun buyback on principle alone. You know why? Because they take pictures and it gets plastered all over the newspapers. The Government and the police then get to crow about how they "took guns off the streets." I'm not contributing to that effort at all.
  9. We had a hooters up here and it closed down. I really miss the place. Been to BW3 once. Never going back. But my friends in Pennsylvania just ignore the signs and carry anyway. What are they going to do, stop and frisk you?
  10. There are internet fax services. MyFax.com lets you send two FREE faxes per day. They take a word doc or plain text.
  11. American Rifleman, that's it. Not sure what else I should be subbing to.
  12. My wife got her own FID. She doesn't shoot (yet) but we figured it was a good idea. Two reasons. If she ever has to use my guns for self defense or home defense, having a FID is one less thing for the law to "get" you on. The other is that if I pass away she can inherit my firearms with less trouble. I don't have a big collection yet but who knows. I would rather have whatever I have stay in the family instead of being seized and ending up god knows where. Besides it's only a few bucks... and it his accepted as a form of ID when renewing your driver license.
  13. I am from Trinidad originally and what you say is true. My grandfather had a shot gun. He had to prove that he needed it, which meant showing that he had land that he used for agricultural purposes and needed the gun for animal pest control. When he got old, in fact not so old (around 70) the police seized his gun because he was too old. My uncle (his son) had a shot gun, rifle and a handgun but he was well connected with the right people (the police and politicians) and joined a club. I believe he successfully used his handgun to defend against a robbery in his hardware store. But the criminals have NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER with getting guns. The gun runners smuggle them from South America, usually along with tons of drugs. The corrupt police even lend out their guns or YOUR guns if you store them at the police station when you're on vacation. Jamaica has the same problem. Guns are illegal but Kingston especially is full of them. If you want to see what the illegal gun trade in Jamaica looks like, the movie "third world cop" shows it, and it is pretty accurate.
  14. Before I became a NJ gun owner. I thought that you could just go into the store or go online and buy one and carry it without a permit. 2nd amendment and all. I had NO idea. I suspect most people who don't own guns are the same. They think it's the wild west out here and they don't know of all the laws and restrictions. And the media will never tell them.
  15. I've always been told that fax is the best way. Let's overflow their fax machines!
  16. I know others have probably said it but I would just like to say that this book is a real eye opener. I knew NJ gun laws were a tangled mess of booby traps and other things that peg the "WTF?" meter off the scale but I honestly had no idea how bad it was until I started reading. And the style isn't too bad either.
  17. The one thing I didn't like is that the first time I contacted him, I got subscribed to his newsletter. I don't want more spam...
  18. Thanks for the warm wishes, even though it is ice cold up here...
  19. NJSP Sussex (Augusta) FID+PP Mine took a little over two calendar months. Filed in late Sep, picked up after thanksgiving. Sandy likely slowed things down. I did find it difficult to get the sergeant on the phone. You have to call him between 8AM and 1PM to make an appointment so they can have a trooper witness your signature for the mental health paperwork. But overall they were pretty friendly. No problems with anything other than the long wait.
  20. Alex Jones was on Piers Morgan the other day discussing gun control, when Piers baited him into the 9/11 truther wackiness. Like a broken clock he's right twice a day but goes off the deep end more often than not, discrediting his argument.
  21. Hi, my name is Ryan and I'm a new member and I live in Wantage, Sussex County. I'm a member of NRA, GOA, ANJRPC and NJ2AS. I haven't been shooting that long and I mostly like to shoot pistols.
  22. I unsubscribed them. Their daily emails were getting annoying anyway. I only bought like one deal from them and that was for pizza.
  23. Hi all, count me among those somewhat new ranks. I went to pick up my FID last year from the sussex NJSP and they had a HUGE stack of them. It reminded me of the old days of film and photo processing where the clerk would thumb through envelopes of photos. And this was before the recent incidents that prompted this talk of gun control so it is likely 100x worse (better) now. Anyway, also consider this my introduction. I've been lurking a while.
