Sometimes people attempt suicide and don't realize there are other paths. I believe in life. I don't believe in preventing people who have exhausted all their options and really want to go but the first timers should at least think twice.

Pretty much this. This is why I carry my amex and use it for everything. The points and other perks aren't too shabby either.

New paper work and more money for permits.
ryan_j replied to wkeilsw's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
SB212A is the new form, and yes you fill it out online. I had to use it last year when applying for permits through NJSP. -
How can he win against standing precedent? Jersey City is just one. The City of Paterson was similarly slapped around (Perez). This is a blatant violation of the law, and the judge (Grall) who ruled is pretty much a hard core anti. She wrote the opinion for Wheeler and Daudelin when NJ decided their badges weren't holy enough for retired LEO carry. Even she can't bring herself to write a decision contrary to the law.

Shipping ammo is illegal to NJ? Samco Global Arms
ryan_j replied to Carcano's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
I think that one million number is a myth. Nobody has an accurate count. Exclude the fudds (who don't care about mall ninjas and their assault weapons) and the number is much lower.- 37 replies

Shipping ammo is illegal to NJ? Samco Global Arms
ryan_j replied to Carcano's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
A lot of out of state stores won't say it, but they look down on NJ residents. They view us as sheep and weaklings. Probably rightly so. And it's not like NJ residents buy a lot of (legal) guns and ammo anyway. We don't. It's not like NJans care about gun rights, otherwise we would be shutting down Trenton every day and the solution to restoring NJans gun rights won't be to move to PA. Let's face it - a lot of us like the oppression, we like the nanny state laws and we like big Government (especially if it fills our bank accounts). Until we fix that nothing will change and they will continue to look down on us. We would have balls and CCW anyway, laws be damned. Police would refuse to enforce the laws against otherwise law abiding citizens, and local Gov't would back them up. We don't do that. Why? Because we like the way things are. I have no idea why, but we do.- 37 replies

I do have a problem with them raising taxes. I believe that Government wastes a lot of money, overpays and underworks much of its labor force, spends too much money on nonsense and views the taxpayer as a bottomless pit. I despise this attitude. It is the attitude of King George III to the colonies. My assessment was lowered after an avalanche of appeals a few years ago. So they just revalued portions of the town. Some people grumbled that it wasn't "fair" because their taxes weren't lowered too... so that triggered a town wide assessment and for most people taxes went back up. Ours went back up to what it was when we bought the house, almost 9 grand. It was a little over 8. One day I'm just gonna say fook it and just pack up and leave.

As simple as I can state it - your town/schools/county needs a certain amount of money to run. They then divide this up among property owners, plus they get some state aid. When they do a town wide revaluation and assessments go down, of course they're going to raise the rate to make up the same amount of money they budgeted. This is Government after all. 90k is the median salary for LEOs for example. You think that money comes from the sky??? Nope. It comes from you!!!

AG Graves Act guideline update
ryan_j replied to bmfenn's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
The directive is littered with the words "resident of another state" and "out of state visitor." It is aimed at them. The gist of it is that they are otherwise law abiding citizens, and only for lack of a NJ permit to carry should not be imprisoned for 3.5 years. Well, what about residents, who also lack said permit? We are law abiding citizens too. It's not just me either, Nappen seems to think there may be an equal protection violation here as well. -
That pussy could have gotten banged up real hard!

AG Graves Act guideline update
ryan_j replied to bmfenn's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
Then so be it. This "fix" is a band aid at best, a day late and a dollar short and if it takes a few more shaneen Allens to permanently fix it then fine. -
Just do it. They will likely do nothing about it but our voice will be heard. At least they'll start talking. Chris Christie has ignored every fax, email and phone call I sent about CCW until the other day out of the blue he replied to me. So nothing is impossible.

Well that's a good thing because it can now be challenged under the 14a. -

I may be there. NJ2AS also usually has a booth there. -
You mean Bliss? It's a real photo actually, taken in California.

Handgun shipping question
ryan_j replied to flbound163's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
I didn't but that doesn't mean there weren't any. What do they look like? I hardly saw any cop cars and Waze really didn't show that many on the map. -
Handgun shipping question
ryan_j replied to flbound163's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
Honestly if you just drive carefully and your car doesn't scream "pull me over!!!" you have little to worry about. I went to WV and VA the other day, went through MD. Programmed my GPS to stop just before the state line to arm/disarm. Left disarmed in NJ, didn't bother with arming in DE, passed through MD, DC, and when I hit VA I armed. Stayed armed through VA and WV. Return trip, disarmed through MD, then re-armed in PA, disarmed at PA/NJ border then came back home. Yes I did go to a range as well.
