  1. Yeah up here the matamoras walmart has most calibers in stock. I usually buy there. But a year ago forget it. No pistol or rifle ammo to be had whatsoever. They had a few like 700 win mag but nothing else.
  2. Booker might be there. His pal Christie did do his best to get him elected after all.
  3. Can't they just run your plates when you're driving? I got a ticket on rt 15 in Sparta 7 years ago because of an expired registration. The cop ran the plate and saw it was expired then pulled me over.
  4. Yeah. NJ is only a lost cause because we've given up.
  5. That's like saying NJ allows CCW in your home, business or at the range.
  6. I was told by an attorney that you didn't have to disclose minor traffic infractions. I didn't. Didn't cause me any problems. More serious stuff like DUI/DWI, reckless driving etc you need to disclose. But speeding 10 over the limit, nah. The interviewing officer was concerned more with the fact that my current marriage was my second one due to concerns about possible immigration fraud but it was fine in the end. Divorce is a big red flag and they often go over your history with a fine tooth comb in that regard. Once you're naturalized it's very difficult to reverse the process so they want to make sure they catch anything before you become a citizen. Truth be told though, as an American, a starter marriage is par for the course, lol.
  7. Yep, plenty of those riding through!
  8. Congrats!!! I naturalized in 2007. And yes I had to put every organization. I put down my ham radio clubs, ARRL, Red Cross, AAA, IEEE and others.
  9. A good few states do not permit open carry. Florida, TX and SC are three I know of.
  10. They just don't want to sell any guns to you damn Yankees, and the NJ laws are a convenient excuse.
  11. The roads are something else, lots of scenic views but lots of steep climbs and hairpin turns!
  12. The front end receiver is helium cooled and the reflector parabola is massive, as well as being finely adjustable. They can detect signals of 10^-26 of a watt
  13. It's true. The telescopes are extremely sensitive and even the smallest signals can knock them offline. They have the 500 mile quiet zone but also a 10 mile extreme quiet zone near the GBT.
  14. Just in case you were wondering, it's in West Virginia about 8 hours from north jersey. The area has no cell service thanks to the radio quiet zone. But the views are scenic and it's nice to be transported back to another time when life was a bit simpler. The telescope is also awesome and is the primary reason why we went but the railroad was a nice touch. BTW Florida or Utah CCW has you covered but you can't take it on the train, so they say anyway. There were no signs only a small note in the brochure. Forget about being armed in the NRAO building since it is a federal building.
  15. I went up there last week. Also visited the radio telescope at green bank. Won't get the photos for that one until a week (I had to use film) but here are a few of the railroad. https://flickr.com/photos/89395174@N00/sets/72157647126467602 Best train ride EVER. It was really nice going up the mountain with the old iron horses powered by all American COAL.
  16. I love bears. It scares the tourists and city folk who then have second thoughts about wanting to move up here.
  17. Springfield XDM .45ACP with three loaded 13rd mags with critical duty ready to go, and one in the chamber.
  18. Best answer in the thread. To me, quick access safes are for nighttime storage because I'm not sleeping with a gun on me. Any other time that I can legally carry it, it's on me.
  19. This is what we call a self fulfilling prophecy.
  20. First off, congrats! Secondly, it's friggin' hot down there. Thirdly, watch out for the scorpions. They are EVERYWHERE.
  21. The latest and greatest from the lovely Ms Emily Miller: http://www.myfoxdc.com/story/26341727/mendelson-says-he-will-appeal-dc-gun-carry-ruling
  22. An MPDC officer told me yesterday that he arrested two people who had guns. One will be charged because he's a felon. The other might be released but they don't know yet. If you carry, be prepared to be arrested at the very least. If you are not a prohibited person you might be let go. But you'd spend a night in jail at the very least. IMO, it is risky business to carry in DC right now because they are going to appeal the ruling and they are also looking at a NJ style may-issue law. Leave the gun in VA or at home.
  23. Probably not by Judge Scullin. The circuit would probably do it though. They may try to carbon copy MD, NYC or NJ but that is going to prove difficult since they relied on the Peruta decision. The decision also said that they must allow carry for self defense. NYC does not allow self defense as a reason to carry.
