  1. Uh, what? Didn't the NJSP say that those use a different method for expansion and are not HPs?
  2. ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding! We have a winnah
  3. A 555 timer and a couple of other parts will do the trick. http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-a-fast-blinking-LED-bike-light/ Radio Shack might even have the parts, but I usually order online from Mouser or Digi-Key. The 555 is a very common and versatile component. I've made everything from flashing lights to a radio transmitter with it.
  4. 1. NJ is a trap. Don't get caught. 2. Education, education, education. Even if it means learning a trade or going to college, concentrate on advancing yourself. 3. Respect yourself first, and be true to yourself. Be what YOU want to be, not someone else. I'm coming to grips with this lately. 4. America is YOUR country. You were lucky to be born here. I wasn't. Your mom wasn't. Make the most of it. 5. Don't forget your heritage. Be proud of it. However, see #4.
  5. That one made me LMAO. However, I think the collection is among PDs as reward money, not necessarily to pay police.
  6. I buy good cases for my stuff. I prefer Pelican. However the XDM and XDS came in cases that appeared to be Pelican cases. I got a $20 rifle case for my AR. It looks good and protects it pretty well. I got $10 pistol cases from Cabela's for our other pistols. Good enough for me.
  7. Things are getting a little rough in Sweeney's back yard. What's happening down there? http://www.nj.com/gloucester-county/index.ssf/2014/08/west_deptford_township_police_station_riddled_by_bullets_in_early_morning_drive-by_shooting.html
  8. Apart from that, NJ now has a residency requirement for most public workers. Honestly, I hope that it never goes away. If you are employed by the taxpayers, you should be one of the taxpayers. If you're helping the state machine, you should be fully immersed in it and not escape it. I personally have not. I moved here from NYC. I moved to NYC from another country. I honestly never wanted to live in the NYC/NJ area. I wanted to live in Florida or Texas. But I met my current wife, got married and we stayed. To me it was a big mistake to stay here. We had plenty of opportunities to leave. Then we bought the house and with the whole housing crash we are kinda stuck now. I must say though, my wife's benefits are pretty good, the health plan especially. I went on my company's insurance and it was expensive and totally sucked. They didn't cover half the things that her plan did and it was a stupid 80/20 plan instead of a PPO with just a small co-pay like hers. As I get older, having a good health plan is a must. The taxes suck but probably not as bad up here in Sussex County. We do pay income tax to NY state though, and that takes an even bigger bite than NJ. However, we are high income earners so we'll probably be soaked everywhere we go.
  9. Pretty much this. This is your best "legal" option, even though the legality of buybacks are questionable.
  10. They will go to great lengths to select the "right" jury.
  11. Yep. I don't think they require the references to be US citizens. The key requirement seems to be that they must have known you for a few years at least.
  12. We have Route 15 which is heavily patrolled and also a huge "drug corridor" as well.
  13. I never even got that far. It's as if the NJ courts completely forgot that I exist. My wife and I have roughly the same level of education in somewhat similar fields (my degree is in EE, hers in comp sci). We are even both naturalized citizens but she was naturalized long before I was.
  14. Lol. Yes I give people I know references. As long as I know they are not disqualified from owning firearms (eg no felony convictions or not a habitual drug user) to the best of my knowledge I can give a reference.
  15. I've never served on a jury but I'm looking forward to when I get called. Strangely enough when I lived in NY I was always getting the questionnaires. When I moved to NJ I got nada. My wife however was called twice.
  16. Barring some major shift happening, probably not until at least one of us retires. That may be sooner than we think though. My wife is older than I am and works in the public sector (not NJ) so she has a lot to lose if she just ups and changes jobs. So let's say they decide to offer city workers early retirement with a decent package. Would she take it? Probably. Would we move? Probably. My wife likes our house though. Can't say I hate the house and property, or even the county/town that I live in. But the state sucks. I have had a good few opportunities to move to places like DFW Texas and Nashville. Relocation within the same company but I kept the same pay. Could have taken them but my wife would lose a lot. We'd lose our health insurance which is pretty damn good, and which we need. So in short, probably not. But as they say, you never know. I could see a move to PA but honestly I'm not to keen on some parts of Eastern PA such as the Poconos region, due to the proliferation of NY transplants.
  17. Basically they have to send to the county adjuster where you live or have lived. This is for NJ addresses only. I do mine with NJSPThey want to contact the county adjuster's office where you live to get your mental health records. That's pretty much the only reason they need your previous addresses. But ask your PD and explain that you lived outside of the country between X dates. They may tell you just put the dates you lived in the US within the last 5 years.
  18. FIJA is planning to hand out literature at the court house. Perfectly legal.
  19. Pretty sure the officer had at least a dash cam and possibly a body mic. IIRC it was NJSP that made the arrest
  20. FOP supports reinstatement of the 1994 AWB. Until they rescind that, they will always be viewed as anti 2A.
  21. I've also seen them up here (Franklin, Sussex county) selling hunting licenses as well.
  22. You are exactly correct. In fact, the prosecutor denied PTI, and the reason cited was "deter" which means that they want to make an example of her. This is THE example of how NJ gun laws were not meant for criminals, but rather, the law abiding citizen. I think it might backfire on them though. People are already talking boycotts, and the NRA and others are pushing national CCW reciprocity. If the Senate flips in November, it could happen. This might push it over the edge, IMO. All over the country they're talking about how Shaneen Allen was unfairly treated and how NJ sucks.
