I don't get why they even do this? Should the unemployed have any less rights than the employed?

Walked into this place a few weeks ago, had my FID and permit in pocket ready to buy. Asked about a couple of guns, they didn't seem to have what I wanted.

How about requiring police departments to adhere to the 30 day FID law instead of whenever they feel like getting to it.

I submitted mine in February, and 8 weeks later I got it. Guess they didn't like me.

1. Application type (FID/permit w/ existing FID). FID with 2 handgun permits 2. Police Department where you applied. Fair Lawn 3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD. Firearms Division 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit. 7 weeks 5. Documents required by the PD (aside from the standard application and the mental health release form). Notarized form saying you are not a criminal. 6. Notes - anything pertaining to the application process (unforeseen difficulties, chief of police calling your home, you hiring an attorney, etc.). Quoted 6-8 weeks timeframe for permits. Good luck calling in to check status of permits. You have a better chance of the President answering the phone.

It seems a recurring theme in getting a permit to purchase or FID card is delays past 30 days which is NJ law. What is an ordinary citizen to do about this? The 30 day law is a joke, and police do not follow it. It seems we are at the whims of the police to provide us with our RIGHTS whenever they feel like getting around to it. Paperwork seems to sit weeks and months on end, they just DON'T CARE. Now even the NICS check is taking a week. This and one gun a month is ridiculous!

The check cashing really is no indication that your permits are near. Just means they are more proficient at cashing checks than signing permits.
