If your not sure if it's going to be your thing go for a pump shotgun. It's cheap and will work fine for anything. Learn on that and start saving your money for a sweet upgrade. As OG said come check out one of the shootouts. All kind of shotguns to sample.

Kubota makes a 5 gallon can that works great. They kind of look like a race gas can. Doesn't leak, drip and the spout doesn't break off. Pricey but it's the only can I have found that meets all the stupid gas can laws. If I have one of the old cans in a commercial vehicle and get stopped by DOT it's a $100 a can fine.

Watch those bastards when you get gas. A lot of places hold your card while your filling up. Ends up giving somebody a couple minutes to grab your name, number, and security code. The 1$ charge is to see if the card number works. They will try and make a very small purchase before moving on to bigger things.

You can always have her ship it while you are visiting her. Most FFLs should have no problem holding it till the paper work comes in. Are you going to Jim Flyns?

We usually start around 9 ish. If you want bring some ammo and a box of clays. There are plenty of us that will let you try our guns out. Also is a great way to figure out the first shotgun to get.

Oh that. Welcome to NJ. That's just the mentality of people in this state. Nobody can think for themselves. Why should they worry about something as silly as tires when the state will save us. Big problem is people are to stupid anymore to know their own limitations or their vehicles. If you don't have the skills to drive in this stuff stay home. The people in SUVs are bad. There is way to many people putting it in 4x4 as soon as their is a coating on the road. These are the same people you see spun out in the median or in the ditch.

Check with a local fireplace/wood stove place. There is a couple of issues that can cause this but they should be able to help you out.
